Copy of Dr Bergs notes for reference: Certain foods cause bloating, like beans, fruit, sugar, and fiber-especially bran. But, what can you do if you’ve eliminated these types of foods and you still bloat? To get rid of bloating, you need to understand bile. Important functions of bile: 1. It helps you absorb fat-soluble nutrients 2. It helps eliminate excess cholesterol 3. It has antimicrobial properties You shouldn’t have many microbes in your small intestine, especially the microbes that make hydrogen and methane. High levels of these gasses lead to bloating. But, bile can help manage these microbes. If you have bile deficiency, you could end up with undigested fat that accumulates in the small intestine. This can cause bloating because of excess fermentation. Bile also helps lubricate the colon. This is why having a deficiency of bile can lead to constipation and why too much bile can cause diarrhea. The best natural remedy for bloating is bile salts. Bile is essential for digestion and helps prevent bloating. If you have low bile, various health issues can occur, in addition to bloating. Symptoms of bile deficiency: • Hypothyroidism • Greasy stool • Floating stool • Not feeling satisfied after eating • Bloating • SIBO • Right-sided discomfort • High cholesterol • Gallstones • Deficiencies in fat-soluble vitamins • Omega-3 deficiency Causes of bile deficiency: • Having the gallbladder removed • Low-fat diets • Antibiotics • Diarrhea • Colon cleanses • High estrogen • High insulin • High cortisol • High omega-6 fatty acids • Fatty liver What to do for bile deficiency and bloating: 1. Consume enough fat in your diet 2. Take probiotics or consume foods high in probiotics 3. Do intermittent fasting 4. Get on a low-carb diet 5. Take bile salts Thank you Dr Berg,! 🐱👍🏿

I was over complicating on why I was bloating, as I literally tried almost EVERYTHING, including drinking 2+ gallons of water a day easily, increasing exercise, increasing electrolytes. NOTHING CHANGED. It turns out I was just stressed and after meditating for 10 minutes, I was able to lose a LOT of water weight and was able to see my veins again closer to the end of the day today. You don’t realize on how stressed you truly are until you take time to simmer down physically and mentally.
Raztac, get your electrolytes! That's way too much water sweethart. And no, I'm not laughing out loud. PS: Forgive me for not spelling ur name correctly. I do hope you have a good day. 🤗
That's fantastic! Sharing your success story to Dr. Berg's website will be highly appreciated! Please use this link: www.drberg.com/add-client-success-story
Thank you Dr. Berg! I’m a nurse and this video validates how I’ve always explained bile . For years Ive literally have explained the gall bladder is like a bottle of dawn dish soap that squeezes out bile when it needed to break down fats in our digestion! it’s the easiest way to explain it.
Started IF with a slightly modified diet, and besides the weight loss, and decrease in bloating, I feel great! Mentally clear, energy! I used to be a slave to coffee now I drink half a cup in the morning! That’s it! I use the Dr Berg supplements too- very good quality and no stomach discomfort like other vitamins. Skin looks great, increase performance in the gym… 20 hours fasting has changed me!
Fasting might have a genetic component as I fell like crap when I fast: tired, hungry, irritated, can't focus, etc. And a get even hungrier when I stop.
@@wesleymichael9636 I think you may have missed some of the points in the video. Usually it is very helpful to watch these video's again that have a lot of information to grasp at the same time. Look for the gentleman : Fidel Castro in the comments. In one of his he has typed a lot of the information for easy reference. That may be of great help to you, too. If you are curious about why conventionally trained docs are not sharing helpful information like Dr. Berg? Imagine never learning about small intestinal bacterial overgrowth (SIBO) in medical school 😳 I literally had to get a masters in nutrition and functional medicine before I learned about SIBO 🤦🏾♂️ The current healthcare model must shift to a focus on the root causes of why we get sick.
I'm not on keto or any special diet, but I took just a handful of videos full of information from this man and tailored it to my lifestyle and WHOA! Even after being in very good shape, I am in GREAT shape!
Had my gallbladder out 10+ years ago and have had extreme stomach issues last 5 years. No one explained this information, even after describing issues to my family doctor. After taking the bile salts for 2 days, I feel 100% better. Thank you for sharing this information!
There was only one thing that was not fact; but he didn't state that it was, but said it's a possibility. However; from the research I've done, the gall bladder does not grow back once removed. The liver will assume responsibility for creating bile in its absence. The body is truly a marvel.
It's like sitting in a medical college and listening. Very informative and essential especially for me. Medical knowledge comes to all who listens to Dr.Berg. Thank you sooooo much for your valuable service from Tamilnadu, India .
This product literally change my life. I was suffering for stomach issues. Mainly bloating gas pain related to food. I had this issue almost 15 years, used almost all over-the-counter product including PPIs. Already had appointment with three GI specialists, one EGD, breath test , US, blood test etc, never found problem, or fix problem. Removing some diet, taking beano, gas ex have helped me little bit but not a whole lot. I remember my days when I used to wake up and walk in middle of night because of this problem. I’m writing this review after using probably more than six months this medication, this is a game changer for me, I’m not doing so much diet restriction anymore. I did not want to announce victory to early so I waited for more than six months before I write this review. Highly recommending and must try if you already been to doctors and never solved your problem. And one thing I would like to say if you have digestive issues related to food, most likely any gi doctor is not going to fix your problem. Before using this product, frequency of my stomach issue was average 1-2 times a week last for up to eight hours. After using product for six month, maybe had two small episodes, much less serious last day much shorter probably 3 to 4 hrs. Last episode I had was around 4 months ago. Plus I’m eating almost everything without any significant dietary restrictions. Thank you Dr. Berg , this one changed my life.
After having a genetic testing done on myself I found out I have a folic acid deficiency.I would love to see a video that gives me a direction in helping my body bring up that level. The way I understand it folic acid plays a big role in helping produce serotonin and then dopamine which would explain mood swings, depression, etc.Your videos are the most informative out there and easy to understand when you explain it.Thank you for your time and the help you give.
I have no gallbladder , and before Dr B in my life, i didn't know how no gallbladder was affecting me. I didn't know why foods were bloating me out of the blue. Information is vital !!!!! I can't stress how Dr Berg's videos have helped me adjust to my healthier being.
I was always athletic with genetics predisposed for lean/ripped physique. Now after 30+ i gained stubborn belly despite running 5 miles, it seemed the more i work out the fatter i become. After 3 weeks on low calorie diet, and eating twice per day....im back to normal weight.
In my 30s too. I do intermittent fasting from time to time. It helps a lot. I also replace some breakfasts with fruit (papaya or grapefruit) sometimes. Mix it up. Keep your body guessing and have fun. ❤
@@charlenelynch6505 Reducing bread and eating fish helps, cuz it gives nutrients but it's low on fats. And yes, cheap veggies - carrots, beetroots from time-to-time. 👍
Dr Berg, thank you for sharing as usual. But i have a major problem, i don't think i suffer from bloating because bloating can be uncomfortable or maybe you have gas because of "some types of food" but in my case i think it's STOMACH DISTENSION instead. because my belly distends after every single meal. no mater how healthy it is. as long as i consume something it will show on my belly. even a glass of water, a small fruit or small portions of food. and please note, it does not feel uncomfortable or gassy at all. by the end of the day i look 8 months pregnant. i do intermittent fast, i do exercise. after giving birth to my pre term baby boy i noticed it got worse. my belly refuses to go down it's been a year post partum. I NEED HELP!!! please let me know if it's one of those things you are born with and no matter what you cut or do it is what it is? I TRIED EVERYTHING😭😭 ACV, digestive enzymes, probiotics, cutting out dairy you name it. it's not any type of food it's everything under the sun.
12 years ago I was found to have Agenesis of the gall-bladder. My life has been an emotional roller coaster. I been miserable for a long time and I eat a lot and never feel satisfied...but if i eat to much I get so backed up that I'm even more miserable. I constantly have discomfort on my right side, as you mentioned, and it always feels little better to push on that area w/ my right hand while i sit down. This discomfort also seems to cause me to hold my breath and not breathe properly -- Gas will get backed up and causes my esophagus to burn -- I've got joint pain too. I never eat sugar cause if i do it causes ulcers and I'll have blood in my stool. I like to exercise but I keep injuring myself due to lack of nutrients. I eat really healthy(fish, rice, broccoli, carrots, potatoes, eggs). I've drank nothing but water for almost a decade. I'm 53 years old(male) and hanging on to 106lbs. Wish I could talk to you personally and ask for advice. I have been on disability for many years and have been really unhappy last several years due to my declining health. Because of my emotional issues I took your vlog advice and bought some B1 and Magnesium. I've also recently purchases some nutritional yeast. Your videos have been helpful. Thanks Dr. Berg

It works! I’ve done this twice a day for the past couple of days. *Warning TMI incoming*: I’ve eliminated three times a day (vs just once or twice normally), stool is long, solid, and smooth 🙈 I feel like I’ve had a good detox after each BM. Most importantly, the bloating goes away! Adding this to my daily routine permanently.
This matches up to all the symptoms I'm having: bloating, slow digestion, plus my recent diagnosis of high LDL cholesterol, dry skin and hair loss. All I've got to do now is figure out what's actually causing my liver to not produce enough bile in the first place. I have m.e/cfs, so it could be linked to that, I just don't know. I've seen improvements by consuming homemade fermented foods like kefir and yoghurt as well as cold therapy and Wim Hoff breathing, which massages the intestines and stimulates the digestive system. Digestive enzymes are expensive!
Collagen has been a game changer for me! Acid reflux gone, no bloating, my junk got fatter, ibs gone,,,, Dark circles around eyes gone. Literally over night

I had taken digestive enzymes for several years, but I must say that your GALLBLADDER FORMULA has proven to be a superior choice for me. I highly recommend them! I have recommended them, as well as your videos to many people. Good health to you! 💙
Is the gallbladder formula for people with *no gallbladder, I have never heard of it or this bile salts, do you use it, I desperately need to know what to buy or do as I have no gallbladder and struggle as does my daughter!!
@@territimmons8482 Hi Terri! Sorry to take so long to reply. My understanding is that you take the Gallbladder Formula whether you have a gallbladder or not. It has: pancreatin, betaine hydrochloride, ox bile extract, conjugated bile salts, stone root, pepsin, slippery elm bark & choline. Besides helping to digest my food properly, it also helps me avoid acid reflux. I also recently started taking Dr. Berg's Advanced Digestive Formula. I feel like I need all the help I can get. I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia/CFS / IBS shortly after my last pregnancy( twins) years ago, I won't even go into any of it except the IBS I would curl up in a fetal position from the pain the constant muscle spasms that feel like very strong contractions ( to me ) the nausea vomiting, explosive diarrhea daily, frequent accidents, rare constipation that was excruciating and of course the bloating, I have had nutritionist I've been on the fod map diet , I cut out soda's & coffee and I eat very little sugar when I do it is mostly from fruit, I've tried yoga & meditation , I was vegan for a couple of years and vegan again today have been this for almost 10 months,I have been on several medication ( just talking about for the IBS ) of which did nothing except dicyclomine which greatly helps with my muscle spasms & still taking today 1 - 20 mg tablet every 6 hours as needed ( I wouldn't know what to do without it) I also take loperamide 2 mg capsules 45 minutes before each meal for diarrhea ( another life saver) but I have never been given anything for the bloating , I've literally walked around still til this day with a bloated stomach, so bloated it looks like I'm 8&9 months pregnant , it's uncomfortable, makes it difficult to breathe, embarrassing, I have to buy larger clothes than I should have to, it's unbelievably miserable, painful and I'm told by pretty much every doctor unfortunately there isn't much more that we can try or do about it, you're just going to have to learn how to live with it , and I have for years ( I was 30 when it started and I'm 53 now) it has robbed me of my life and quality of life in so many ways, I haven't seen or felt what's it's like to not have a severe bloated stomach in so long that if I did I would probably go into shock , so I'm not sure what this is or if it's something that would help me but if so I would like to know more...

What a wonderful video. Excellent illustration at the beggining and so educational. Thank you Dr Berg for everything. I've said it before and I'll say it again, you truely are a gem of a man. Thank you x
After removal of my gallbladder the doctor told me the bloating was unrelated and was due to inflammation, which had no known cause. Yet another success for the medical profession. Fwiw it was obvious to me as the symptoms only started after the procedure. This is a very helpful video series, thank you.
You helped me tremendously with your various vids on the gallbladder. I'm taking various supplements you have recommended and it has made an enormous difference to me. Thank you so much!
Thank you, always for these road maps. This video especially which deals thoroughly with something I’ve put up with for 30 years. I honestly don’t know how I’m _still alive._ But with your content, there would be no doubt as to why. I’ve been following your advice and because of more fats, more bile, fewer meals, fasting and anti-pathogenic _herbs,_ I’m clearing out SIBO for the second time in my life. The first time, I didn’t know what it was, but now I do. So, thank you!
@@francellew2073 when I took supplements I produced a lot of biofilm (which would take the bloating with it). Most doctors I’ve seen told me there was _nothing wrong with me,_ when there clearly was (the bacteria was at its most obnoxious within their offices). I have no verification from doctors when I have a condition that they themselves _won’t_ and _didn’t take seriously._ My inner world was not competently assessed by whatever form of _expertise_ available to me. That and I still had to pay them, for nothing. They provided no treatment and I had to take the matter into my own hands. I’ve dealt with it once before, but without a road map, so I found myself in a worse situation with bacterial overgrowth than the first time. I’m ridding myself of these biofilms today and I’m getting back to normal, currently. Edit: I simply followed the Dr Berg’s advice. Keto, Fasting, Carnivore and supplements rid my body of this obnoxious overgrowth. Oh and the most important thing the Dr introduced me to, Bile salts. Nothing works without those. When I rid myself of the bacteria the first time, I was doing a form of keto, or basically low sugar (the Candida Diet) and certain kinds of vegetables, like Ginger (which stirs bile and kills bacteria), cayenne pepper and so on were priorities in the past.
This is very helpful for someone like me having bloating stomach almost all the time and it's very hard to lose weight no matter how much physical activity you do. Funny thing is ..my stool float never knew that this is related to what you've said in this video. Thank you Dr. Berg!

Dr Berg seems to understand the importance of bile and liver health in the digestive process. I hope he will revisit the validity of the liver flush protocol some time.
I am so glad I found this video. I ticked off every symptom and cause on this list. I still have my gallbladder and have been diagnosed with fatty liver disease. I am doing IF so I will be add your recommendations. Thank you
I have just been diagnosed as having SiBO. This is so informative and you explained things so well. I really believe low bile is the cause of a lot of my digestive issues. I will be talking with my functional doctor about this on my next appt. Thanks for this video!
@@francellew2073 @Boop I took the breath test and scored high on hydrogen and some methane. I just had a feeling I had this after searching for a couple years to try and solve my extreme fatigue- my guess from my other lab results and research is that I am really low in absorbing B12 and more nutrients .but not yet confirmed this with my functional doctor (highly recommend them). I am taking Oregano, something to get rid of my biofilm (Dr. Berg may have suggested it in one of his videos) and digestive enzymes Z 3x daily . And the low FOD map diet. Doing this for a month or so before trying antibiotics. I can tell this is helping after 2 weeks with my constant bloating etc. I am going to ask her about adding bile salts now too. These videos have helped me so much in understanding this digestive process and why I have issues. Good luck in finding what works for you!!
@Penny Hi Penny, the treatment my doc gave me with the oregano, biofilm, enzymes and also an anti bloating supplement - along with a Low Fodmap worked wonders. I was really strict taking everything (lots of pills ugh) and with the diet for 2 months. I felt amazing ! Now, I stopped the low Fodmap (as doc told me to) and so now I am getting bloated here and there with some foods- but it goes away! I didn’t have to do the antibiotics. I highly suggest trying a routine like that- but I would find a doc to give you the exact dosages/ plan to follow. Now I still need to figure out what was causing it if I can. That seems hard though. Don’t be scared - it’s slightly annoying for a bit but it’s so worth it. Best of luck! I will update if anything changes.
This is really interesting being almost 3yrs post surgery for cholangiocarcinoma and resection of bile duct into the small intestine. Do you have any additional advice on this or would you say the same principles would apply? I do get bloating and find intermittent fasting (16:8) helpful.

This is great news for me, for the past three weeks I've had trapped gas in the middle of my rib cage mid way. The gas kept travelling through my esophagus and it pained so much. I had to take antacids for it.
Thank you Dr. Berg! I had my gallbladder removed 8 years ago and suffer from occasional diarrhea and know I'm not absorbing all the nutrients I need to. The doctors told me that everything would go back to normal after I had it out and offered no advice or guidance on what to do. Thank you thank you! I now will start taking bile salts to see if that helps.
I'd say get another doctor. I was told the same lie when I had mine removed. I believe all doctors are forced to remove the gall bladder because it is a liability to them to try and go in and remove the stones. In addition, I believe those who have stones are likely to create more and be back in the hospital. With the diarrhea and cramping I've had over the last 14yrs, I would have rather had them remove the stones and risk having to go back!
Great video Dr Berg! Thank you for your selfless service to mankind. I’ve been diagnosed with liver cirrhosis and drs prescribed that I take Ursofalk. I’m also a vegetarian. As much as your video was so helpful, I would like further advice and guidance on a diet plan, vitamins and medication. Thank you so much.
I'm addicted to the foods that produce all the bloating and gas.😢 And, taking the bile supplements did nothing. I have to change up my diet and omit those guility foods and change my lifestyle. Thx for this video.
That's why Indian vegetarian food is good for vegetarians. It's a mix of good fats, vegetables, protein, spices that reduce bloating and help absorption into the body, proper digestion, oils like peanut, sesame , mustard, coconut that are low cholesterol good oils which help good bowel movement.
Indian food was the last straw for my gallbladder, I had Indian food and I was sick to my stomach and in excruciating pain for a week until I was rushed into the hospital and needed emergency gallbladder removal surgery 😅
Hi Dr Berg, I have been following you for sometimes now, I'm so grateful for everything you do for us all. I have been diagnosed with mucosal rectal prolapse after recovering from anal fissure. I have done my research and the only way to treat it is with surgery and kegel exercises. Really don't want to have surgery, the kegel exercises not helping much, I'm in a lot of pain at the moment. I'd be grateful if you can suggest anything to help reversing the prolapse quicker and faster without needing surgery. Thank you, sending you love & light 🙏🏼
I have a question. Always love your videos, Dr. Berg. Thank you so much for them. I just watched one of your videos before this one and you said that you should not take bile salts if you have SIBO and you're not absorbing things. It was your video on when to NOT take bile salts. But in this video, you also talk about SIBO and say it's a symptom of not enough bile. So.. I am confused. Do you or do you not take bile salts when you have very bad SIBO and malabsorption? Should I do SIBO treatments first for a while and then add in bile salts? OR do I start adding in bile salts now to help the SIBO go away? Confused on that. Thanks so much.
What do you do if you have had your gallbladder removed? How do you get the correct vitamins and nutrients. Breakdown the omega 6 and remove cholesterol??
It's probably not just the meat that's helping, but rather the absence of all the other unhealthy and junky foods you were putting into your body before.
I use to bloat a lot... After more than 1 year doing IF, reducing carbs and taking ACV every day, never more, even when I eat beans from time to time, and my stomach was very sensible to beans in general... Now, he's always silent, like if I didn't have one, it's amazing!!

Where can I get natural bile salts without any other ingredients? I've tried your gallbladder support formula and it just didn't work for me.😔 I have so many of the symptoms of low bile believe that is my problem. Many food or ingredients make me bloat. Most of the time, the restaurant food makes me blost, whatever food it is. I do not know what they use there to make that happen. The simplier I eat, the better I feel. I do not use sugar almost at all, I have no sugar at home. Basically, well made greek sallad is the best for me. Or a tomatoe soup. Spinach, ginger and lemon and garlic are my favourities, they make feel good. The more conpressed the food is, the worse it ito me.
I have all those symptoms of low bile. Been told it’s ibs. It seems I have food intolerances too. It’s just a minefield. 20 years plus of being bloated constipated etc. maybe I should try these bile salts
After my gallbladder was removed i was so bloated and constipated all the time so i did research, started taking bile salts plus magnesium oxide, don’t overdo the magnesium though, works to perfection!
Any advice for those of us who no longer have a gallbladder? I seem to do well except for the few and far between times I'll eat something or drink coffee with cream and will have to make a run for the bathroom within about an hour after eating or having a coffee. Sadly, my gallbladder should not have been removed as the severe pains I was experiencing were a side effect of being on Pantoloc for years.
