Use the reapers for the tires, they slide well. Atleast on a zero turn, when I use to mow professionally we didn't like them that much for hills because we were driving at a 45 to 55 degree angle

In the 80s I would put Cheng Shin tires on my bikes because they had good tread patterns and they were an economical tire. People would always give me grief about it lol. Those same people today probably drool over Maxxis which is owned by Cheng Shin. Also on many bicycles and ebikes they have "CST" tires (Cheng Shin Tire). I believe CST is the largest bicycle tire manufacturer in the world. I feel some vindication lol.

That stud tool is trick. The left cylinder base studs are discontinued, but the right are allegedly still available if you need any. That dowel tool is REAL trick! Those look like the original transmission bearings. They should have "NSK" "07L" and "TM205", it looks like, from the picture on Partzilla, on the seals. Certain Hondas use a sealed bearing, but only sealed on one side. It's to try and keep transmission oil in them. The almighty 1992-2001 CR250Rs use that tech, and I think the 1984-1986 CR125Rs do too. I know JB Weld works on rusty, glassbeaded steel that is then primer powdercoated, wet sanded, and color powdercoated. Nice and smooth. Looks like you're going to have the cover mini texture black powdercoated. I'm worried about there being pinhole leaks there though. That headlight bracket is gonna be bitchin'. I'm looking forward to seeing the LED fabrication part! Wow. Obviously, Yamaha never intended the steering stem bearings to be replaced...

With those Reaper tires, I mowed grass for years and some mowers had those. They do not have much more grip than standard turf tires, so they would be great for sliding around, but they would be pretty bad in wet conditions.

@banginheep
@banginheep Год назад
Truth. Having worked at a powder coating shop for years high temp lab metal is the only filler that will hold up to the heat. Several companies also make low cure powders that can cure at 350deg which helps keep fillers from melting out.

Great video Mike. As a long time Aluminum TIG welder, that weld was just about as good as it could have been for that part soaked in oil. Taking it down only guaranteed to reveal the porosity. But there is a high-temp body filler fix for those tricky porosity situations. Just braze in brass, lead or even the lead/tin mixture. The brass will likely be harder than the aluminum so it will also present challenges for finishing. But the lead works really well and is easy. Keep up the great work. Can't wait for the next one.
@MichaelSabo
@MichaelSabo Год назад
I really appreciate hearing this from someone with experience. I am hoping after the texture powder is done, it will look decent but if it really needs it, I may take it back down and try brazing it like you suggested. Thank you
@YerzengaPerformance
@YerzengaPerformance Год назад
@@MichaelSabo Unfortunately it may make it impossible to braze properly if that coat gets down deep into the porosity. The quality of the brazing is based completely on surface tension. And the surface tension can only be acquired from a clean and fresh surface. Aluminum brightener that the truckers use on their wheels is a good intermediate acid that will etch it well to attack it properly before welding or brazing.
