Sleep is a weapon. To think that you will survive long term like this without good sleep is a sure way to fail. Been there - done that.

Facts. It is inevitable there will be lost sleep, even with a Team size of say 8 people, you will lose it with rotational sentry duty/ firewatch. The logistical balance between adequate supplies and manpower is always a teetering scale. Good stuff brother.

We learned anytime you could grab a snack an a 15 to 30 minute catnap, it helped 100 %. But thats something you have to get use to, an your always going to be sleep deprived, always. Thx for the vid PA

@@centerfiresuppressionllc682 I do Sir. In my younger years I had jobs that required sleep deprivation. Since life’s and property was under my responsibilities. So yes about close to 17 years of that… and believe I do not lose any of my sleep now.

Flashbang/flare shells attached to perimeter alarms offer peace of mind for those working alone...
@scowler7200
@scowler7200 Год назад
@kevinhart46 If they hit your tripwire, they likely don't have NOD's. Pointman will be too concussed, and a flare may slam two rival gangs into one another.

Sleeping outdoors sucks regardless. Even with a good tent, sleep pad, air mattress, pillow, and sleeping bag it still sucks.

Regarding housing in hotter climats, if its a 2+ floors, you can open a window upstairs at the highest point possible and open a door or window downstairs. Use the chimney effect to cool your house down a bit.

i used to haul citrus in Florida,, they were exempt, so they could work U 24/7,, i know ALL about lack of sleep from working many 100 hour weeks,, many times i didn't know if i was coming or going & hadda stop & look in my trailer & C if i was loaded or empty,, then remember my field ticket with my destination.. B 4 that i hauled coils on the river aka a river rat, guy i worked for told me when i first started to get sleep whenever i could,, even if it was sitting in line waiting to get unloaded at wheeling pittsburgh steel in martins ferry .. Woke up many times driving & realized i had dozed off..... I'm retired now and i DON'T MISS DAT 💩💩

Idk, I think it depends on what is going on in your area. Any warfare situation will be sleep deprived, it's the nature of the beast. I learned a lot reading about the experiences of people who survived the Bosnian/Serb/Croatian war in the 90s. That's kind of a worst case scenario. Only thing worse than being trapped WROL with an invading army surrounding your city killing people all the time and citizens competing for scarce resources is getting nuked.

You're so right sleep is very critical and important. A lot goes on in the body when you're sleeping at night but it can't take place if your mind's not off and you're not sleeping. Resting and sleeping are two different things. You're right it's going to be very hard to sleep with all hell breaking loose. Stock up on a lot of sleeping pills. You can use ear plugs but that's risky because you won't hear what's going on around you. I guess our bodies are going to have to good and tired before we actually get some sleep.🙏🙏🙏🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲

When camping I always wake up damn early, either by shorter summer nights or birds chirping. Sleep either in tent or hammock is always light sleep. It will break you up in the long end.

I dunno, the 19th century mountain men seem to have managed to do all those tasks by themselves, while worrying about Indians, bears, wolves, and what not.
@PreparedAirman
@PreparedAirman Год назад
They didn't do it alone. If you dive into books and diaries of folks in that time period, they went out in large groups together, camped together, ate together they did almost everything together except hunting. Hunting was typical done alone but they always brought back everything to their camp or what we would call in modern times FOB.

@@PreparedAirman - sometimes yes, sometimes no. They did go in expeditions, or they did live with Indian tribes, but the explorations of trappers like Bridger, Colter and Smith are pretty well known, and there was the famous Hugh Glass survival story - all pretty solitary.
