I live in Hong Kong and I am 70 years old now. In 1972, 52 years ago, I was studying late at 1 am at night for college exam, the radio back then was playing James Taylor’s You’ve got a friend.
Carole King was my mother in 1970 when I didn't even know what a mother was. She was warm, emotional, and involved. I still listen to Tapestry and know that we had a bond she didn't even know about.
One of the greatest songs of all time. Thank you Carole for writing it and thank you James for making it famous. And thank you for singing it together.
I have been a huge fan of Carole and James for many decades. They are timeless…. I particularly love the interaction in this clip. Beautiful and harmonious unity. #lovecarolekingandjamestaylorr Bless you both!
Discovering the music, the vibe, the unmistakable voice.." I've seen the biggest music (real)stars/groups, luckily. Seeing JT when I was 18/19, was unforgettable & in my Top 3, all-time favourite gigs... JT, The Eagles, Dylan. Still playing the three's timeless, masterpieces.... Simply on a different level....
Where has the time gone? Life was so simple back then when these 2 extremely talented artists came to fame. I want those days back for my Grandchildren
The strangest & greatest thing about these two is that they sound the same so many moons later...Their relationship is a magical friendship... The talent is just amazing, when they collaborate it's pure beauty for the ears..
Loved it back then when Carole sang it & loved it back then when James sang it. To see them sing together ❤️ is pure magic. If only you could capture moments like these and bottle them. They're worth their weight in gold. Xxoo You got a friend!
i bumped into a band in tasmania at the beach, rehearsing this song, n yes it was so nice, n inspirational, and i listened to the words, as i felt exactly what they were singing, outta respect, n only respect i stopped filming as i was filming the gorgeous coast n i hadnt seen my friend much in 27 years, yet i was there with a friend, i didnt even realise they were there rehearsing this song til i walked closer, twas so weird
no words can describe caroles beauty and energy! She still sounds incredible and James is perfect!!!!! If u can see this show its a once in a lifetime experience. You will be in heaven every minute. The audience sang every note along with them. It doesnt get any better than this show!!!!
May is just say, they are both gems, but my preference is the man's version, this even though this lovely talented woman wrote the song. Only James Taylor could sing this with so much feeling
Tapestry was one of those albums I used to play and sing to over and over and over as a teen. Carol is an icon for a reason! So many amazing songs that she recorded, and she is also incredibly talented as a songwriter. She's written songs that were perfect for her and for people like James, Aretha, The Drifters, Mariah Carey, and Donny Osmond! Her songs move us so much because they are real, just like her!
Nothing ever touched me in my life more than the loving friendship ot these two most marvelous human beings. I just love both of them for what they contributed not only to music, but to the American lifestyle, and they just did it so easily, by just being who they are. Simply Magic.
This song performed by Carole King and James Taylor is to make you cry! This letter is pure poetry and sensitivity, typical of the genius James Taylor. I think I heard this song for the first time when I was about 12 or 13 years old, I believe that the end of the 60's and even today, when I listen, I get a strong emotion! How good music was made then! This Baldwin piano crying in the background is killing ... Thank you for everything, James, Carole, you are irreplaceable ... Who never needed a friend shoulder to cry on? Paul Pecchio, from S. Paulo, Brazil.
This song got me through a bunch of years. And then i would play a James Taylor song and keep driving across the country knowing deep down inside that it would all work out....and now that was 50 years ago.
Carol king l have bought and replaced her music in every format , every screwed up relationship and ever move since i descovered her music in high school. A true a genius, i will always cherish her music.
It takes a great girl to call out to a male to ensure thru winter summer or fall they remain friends. Go Carol King it's Your Song and great that James Taylor is now supporting you. Go Girl Carol your voice and your right and yeah James T is finally backing you.
Wow can it be we are getting old =) wow just yesterday I was a free young man now im in the winter of my life .Yhanks for the song made me think of younger days and the summer heat and a special youn lady
It was meant to be,,,,I did meet James he needed a expesso it was 530 am but I acted like no big deal It was surreal he was staying at a resort I worked at
Yeah, tears in my eyes too! Whats better than a friend like they seem to be? So many memories w/this song, l love them both! Peace be to them!! Only wish I could go back to this time.
To my friends, Darryl, Henry, Clifton, Freddie, Dominic, Tony , Bede and Georgie. Takes me back down memory lane to the early 70s, day dreaming these tunes, all beauties. God Bless You, James Taylor, Carole King and of course, 'No Secrets - Carly Simon'
With her power and magnetism it's difficult to think she wa ever reluctant to take the stage singing her wonderful music. Thank God she changed her mind!
Carole King nd James Taylor great team, first heard them wayback in d late 70's in d "Fire nd Rain"album nd staightaway i knew this was a gem, made me do an appraisal how much friendly were my friends down d memory lane
Brilliant, the only version I really heard in England when young was James Taylor which was the definitive for this song,it was his song and his only and never knew she wrote it or sang it😢😢
