You Won't Believe What This Grumman Tiger Just Sold For - Grumman Style: We talk a bit about how it started and then got restored and finally now sold. Video 1,.280 in the Hit Parade. Price for this Tiger just raised the entire fleet's value. Enjoy
The seller had no intention of selling, he had his plane perfect and just the way he liked it. When cash came out, he decided he could sell it. Which was the condition the buyer needed, not one more thing to be done to the plane except fly it and use it.
I see we have one dislike, bet I know who that is from!

Former Grumman CFI in the 1970's and 1980's. Why it took so long to realize these airplanes are special 4 seaters. If i have the money.. I would buy it too.

@4:45: No, that does not mean all of your Grummans are worth more. Only airplanes in good (or probably very good) condition MAY sell at a higher price. It always comes down to a willing buyer.

I will caveat what I said with this, take into consideration the amount of money that went into restoring this aircraft. Parts, labor, inspections, and by the time that's all finished and the plane is ready for sale, it has to be sold at a price like this one in order to recover from the initial investment. Grumman Pilots made this plane look beautiful and upgraded. It still sucks that others may think their Tigers are worth as much with outdated steam gauges and worn paint jobs, but those owners can be negotiated with. The same issue exists for any plane, just have to know how to negotiate and some planes can be negotiated on more than others.

How much did the restoration cost and how much was the cost of the plane needing the restoration I got a feeling he's close to 200 Grand in the project and it came out gorgeous way to go

Probably similar to the Project Tiger, we bought a plane for 30K, put 214K into it with new parts, panel, and all.

This is not as easy as it would be for a 172 or PA28 because it's impossible to get most Grumman specific parts new

Awesome! An affordable quarter million dollars instead of the half million for a 172. They'll have to change the name of the "hundred dollar hamburger" but that's another small, *SMALL* price to pay.
@GrummanPilots
@GrummanPilots 2 года назад
@@arcanondrum6543 Not only half the price, but better than factory new. I think a bargain. The Project Tiger will be up for sale next month and we are starting at $250,000. Even selling for 250K, the project Tiger with purchase and parts (no labor yet for work and annual) but we are already eating into a 70 K profit and are 2 months out. Not in it for profit, just a good plane, even better than AOPA's sweepstake Tiger.

I don't believe that you will find a equal performance airplane with the ease of maintenance on this type. There will be some adjustment in the price, but still a great buy considering a new 172 is more than double this price.

It would be perfect…… and now someone paid so much that every one of them will jump 500% in price and now that I was close….. once again…. I WILL NOT BE ABLE TO AFFORD ONE IN MY LIFETIME. EVER. thanks for ruining it for the rest of us. Does anyone know where I can get a scrap one that I could rebuild from scratch.? No, seriously…. Im serious…. Low cost or free would be better? I don’t care if it is glowing with nuclear radiation, I will drive 3800 miles to come get it. If you do please comment back to me?… Steven

I think you will find it does cost a lot. On the project Tiger, we have already paid out over 100K for parts to go back in. FYI

I think you will see the tragedy in even if you get a plane for free, put money into it to get it flying, that you will have more in the plane that you could see it for. Ask me how I know that fact?
@kristopherreeve4427
@kristopherreeve4427 Год назад
There have been several reasonable priced Tigers listed over the past three months. Tigers in good condition under 100K. But if you don't reach out say yes you'll pay the asking price and lock in the contract, then they disappear quick.
