If you look closely there are two different torch heads for the Deacon. One of them kind of looks like a Mancatcher, similar to the weapons some of the Unmade have. If I had to guess, I think that would be the tongs option. Also, sprue pics are up now and counting the number of torsos to confirm that the Riverblades are only split between 2 sprues it looks like there’s only going to be one Crestblade in the box

too bad about the crestblades. more reason to just run regular ones all as the special weapon.

I believe Soul Blaze turns on whenever anything in your warband kills an enemy model. The wording is different than something like “Blood-Maddened Feeding Frenzy” which specifies the activating model using the ability. The Deacon only needs to activate and use the triple vs having to deal the killing blow. Still a bit of “ugh” that he can’t be splashed into other lists but it certainly adds some flexibility

Allegiance ability very interesting. excited to also see how they do OBR as they mentioned using the wild dice to spend as resource to activate a seperate ability. this new design space can help move the game forward. excited to 3E cant wait to see what else the experiment with on the way

I really like the elves' abilities, but I wish river blades and standing wave stance were until the end of the batte round, not the fighters activations. I wish they let us combo off a little more with some of these abilities.

Just got and built these. For their dynamism the Riverblades are surprisingly easy to put together, but who at GW decided that Lumineth should be more complex to paint? A lot of these poses make it very difficult to get to key areas, and the way the pieces are sculpted precludes subassemblies - you either paint them built or on the sprues. Also, their weaponry and basing is odd for both AoS and Warcry. Being essentially an AoS temple unit I'm unreasonably bothered that nearly half of them are on 28 mm when all other Lumineth infantry are on 32s, and as a 'designed for AoS' unit having mixed base sizes seems very strange. In terms of the weapon sculpts, several of the models are throwing darts - reflecting their ranged profile in AoS - but all except the leader are melee models in Warcry. From looking at the models and their Warcry rules I was expecting them to be a full melee unit, a Lumineth version of Corsairs - instead they're Shadow Warriors reimagined along the lines of Shadowstalkers.

With the Riverblade quad: It's slightly better Rampage but requires a ton more setup. Granted it lets them use their full move instead of dice value, but still.

Yeah, it's heartbreaking. Given that Riverblades don't have the craziest rampagers, I would have liked to see that done more aggressively.

Greetings from Russia, TheSaltySea. Thank you very much for your content and contribution to the development of the community. Tell me, please, have you ever thought why GW has a kill team that is clearly tournament-oriented and is a warcry that is carried out by people who clearly do not play it, and if they do play, it is not at the tournament level? Kilteam has an obvious assembly of a factional team (1 leader + a clearly defined list of possible specialists individually), where there are no thralls, monsters, underworld gangs or allied leaders, where the compendium is an opportunity for a beginner to feel out the system without complications, and only then the opportunity buy a personalized kill team and play with all the mechanics (which makes a personalized kill team, on average, stronger than the compendium), where the frames of performance indicators for the compendium and bespoke are the same, which perhaps makes the system more tournament-like and the game itself more chess-like? At the same time, we have warcryi, where playing a monobespoke gang against a compendium usually looks like a fight with a sword against a tank, because on average the compendium has more broken stats or incomprehensibly cheap units like, for example, city ogre, or abilities, like, for example , + 1 attack per double for the same cities, which raises a completely logical question - “why play bespoke gangs?”, although the game seems to be about them. It’s just that when you buy a box where there are 2 bespoke gangs, the game usually seems quite interesting and similar to a kill team, when you play according to the rules of the “constructor” and start collecting everything you can, the game turns into a competition in covering yourself with broken abuses, the game loses its chess game charm. The game has obvious problems with 5+ tafna (golems, legionnaires, stormcasts), there is a clear predominance of gangs of season 2 over season 1 in strength by 10-30 percent (gorgers and horns of hashut are clearly very dominant in strength), provided that consider this from the perspective of playing with monobespoke gangs. General abilities have clearly more value for elite models (+1 attack, rampage, healing someone in 5+ depth). Why GW moved away from the good framework of the first season, where there was an emphasis on the non-elite fighters towards some kind of mob, where the gigachads role-play who will be the first to get the initiative for the turn and on rampage will go to break everyone’s faces, this is very sad.

I have another list, which is just using the Myari's Purifiers models as 2 more Seneschals (the Archer as proxy for the Darts, and the Big sword as proxy as the Blade, and the original model with the Warglaive: ---------- Purifier Riverblades 1.000 pts | 8 fighters 210 Seneschal Blades (Original) 210 Seneschal Darts (Ailenn, archer from Purifiers) 210 Seneschal Warglaive (Senaela, sword from Purifiers) 115 Crestdancer Sickle Whip 65 Streamrunner Crestblades 65 Streamrunner Crestblades 65 Streamrunner Crestblades 65 Streamrunner Crestblades ----------

Makes sense. Less greedy that mine on the blessings so you get to make room for 1 more streamrunner. Should work out.
@philipbowles5397
@philipbowles5397 3 месяца назад
Modelwise the kit does only contain one set of crestblades, so unless you're happy just saying that all Streamrunners have the same loadout whatever the models are armed with you can't make this from just one box plus Purifiers.

@@philipbowles5397 Yeah, that's exactly it. Everyone in our group don't mind this kind of thing. No one here is going to a tournament, specially since we're in Brazil, but yeah, you're right. I just guess that most opponents wouldn't mind this at all :)

Allegiance abilities instead of reactions may give a hint to what we'll see with the Idoneth bespoke, since it's difficult to see how they'd implement a tidal ability as either a reaction or an ability.
@thesaltyseagames
@thesaltyseagames 3 месяца назад
That would make sense. Have you played in narrative with their allegiance ability. I didn't love it but it wouldn't need too many tweaks to be pretty cool.

@@thesaltyseagames No, my Idoneth have been in their boxes unassembled for several years - originally because I was moving countries, and now because I don't have space for them until I install more shelving... GW seems to have decided that some form of tidal mechanic is definitional for them: both Underworlds bands have tidal mechanics and so does the Warcry one with their last update.

Rapids Rising Leap is equivalent to a Cypher Lords double, but worse. It's not often that the Cypher Lords get to say they have something better than another warband!

Going to post before watching like some kinda jerk to see if we reached the same conclusions (full disclosure, I already preordered this kit because I play both in AoS, too): Pyregheists: Very cool, interesting ability; nifty expansion of design ideas. They'll take some practice, but it enables them to play very nasty in objective missions, and in kill missions against hordes. Neat gambling choice on the abilities. Fighter-by-fighter they're obviously not great, because they're overpriced. Designers tried to shave points by making most M4 (rather than, y'know, adjust your points formula), but they at least have more staying power than regular Nighthaunt. Points total is just off being able to drop a goon for a Dreadwarden for cheap recursion -- though I don't know if you need it. Conclusion: Good to very good warband in the right hands. Riverblades: Hilariously bad. Possibly out of the gate contenders for worst warband in the game. For those that aren't aware, most factions have a general Points-per-Wound (PPW) range that means as you mix and match fighters, you wind up in a similar spot for total Wounds (with some obvious variance for skew lists). Compendium Lumineth end up in the mid-range at about 126-130. This warband is 98 wounds (max. 114 for leader and 12 dorks). This is the same zone as Idoneth, DoK, Shadowstalkers, and Cypher Lords. Gee, where have I seen them all grouped up together before? Every single fighter in Compendium Lumineth is under 10 PPW; half this faction is over 11. Designers decided not to Save the Elves and instead to 'double down' on their "Speed Kills" mantra and make another hyper-fast warband that can't do anything when they get there. Lumineth are the one viable elf faction because they have defensive abilities -- they can hold the point once they arrive -- while Riverblades do not. Mid-range fighters are 5 points more than Bladelords for +1T, -1Crit, -2W. For the same cost as a Runner, a Warden gains +2R, +1Crit, and +1T, _and Shining Company_ to stay alive. Most of the custom warbands have been designed to be better than their Compendium counterparts. These are strictly inferior. Your Rush is better than generic Rush; your Rampage is better than generic Rampage. The abilities are solid to very good, but you wouldn't waste them on most anybody in the party. Seneschal is good. About 25 points too expensive, but good. One interesting weapon option and two very nice ones; you could run both in an 8-body band. This whole warband pays through the nose for Swift as the Wind. But what made Swift as the Wind good was the fact you could fill your list with cheap, tough dwarfs, _double_ their Move rate and command the board. No dice, here. If Warcry is supposed to be the on-ramp for AoS, why make a faction that plays nothing like it does at the army level? Conclusion: Seneschal is an attractive Ally, though not an easy call, plug-and-play buff-battery like an Old Guard. Unintentional gallows humor in that the Agile Runners can be played as effective suicide bombers. I'd hope I'm being overly skeptical and they're actually all right. Give us hope, SaltySea! _Edit After Watching:_ Let me first note that I think the sculpts are great and the themes are cool, and I'm not looking at them from an expressly competitive standpoint. BUT, even for casual play, a warband shouldn't suck. Looks like we saw a lot of the same things (I must watch this channel too much). Slightly more positive about the elves than I was. The two Deacons have different weapons. One looks like a torch, while the other looks like tongs. Don't know what to tell you, man; his eyes are up _here_ . (Unless that was all just a bit?) Goonhammer's survey studies are a textbook example of everything wrong with survey studies, and the analysis falls on the bad side of the "lies, damned lies, and statistics" continuum. In fact, as a rule, never cite Goonhammer for anything but how having all the information doesn't make a good critic. Definitely looking forward to the campaign stuff in the book. No mention of cost-inflating giant frog head?

It's an unfortunate situation, but those bladeborn warbands are just stronger than anything in every death faction other than Ossiarch.
