I’m one of those who become suicidal when my thoughts question the purpose of life and I fricking hate it. It gets so bad that I can barely move.

There is no point unless you want there to be a point

I still can't find it... I'm 24 and I'm depressed from so many years and have often suicidal thoughts, i never have accomplished anything in my life. The fact that i don't like anything, that my life have no meaning at all make me thing that maybe I don't have to be alive, that I'm a mistake, that I can't nothing about it. Sometimes i think that i have to solve all my problems to be in the position to find my prupouse/meaning/ or what it is Someone feel the same? Or I'm alone ? Because I don't know what to do at this point..... I have found that if I constantly shift focus everyday from time wasting activities like social media and try and do more useful tasks- I usually end up doing a lot of meaningful things to promote a better life for myself and everyone around me. It can start with something small like dusting off a counter or making coffee for everyone.

Wanna know the purpose? Put your hand in your heart, hear that beat? That’s the purpose. To live, make a difference in the world wether it be saving a bird or changing the world and then die without regrets. Love you all and have a good day/ night

I think this is a brilliant video. In asking what your purpose in life is, I always think its vital to ask the questions why? Why are you ding what you are doing? Why to do you want it? Its in the why that we can progress to how and what.

I believe the only purpose in life is to experience. And the only thing that gives life meaning, is helping others experience. Nothing more. Nothing less. That's why I believe the Golden Rule universally applies. Not because of religious or even moral obligations. But because in this life where nothing matters, where we only get a micro-second of existence, we should strive to live and let live. To help when we can (if we choose, for there is no real obligation) and find joy and "meaning" in our brief experience in whatever way suits you. Believe what you need to believe, do what you need to do... But just love in the present and you should be good. Don't hold on to too much or seek for control in those things that are beyond our grasp(to much does lead to suffering) and know that Death will come to you and everything around you. It should not to be feared, but accepted and even appreciated... like the back cover of a book that ends your story before being placed back in the infinite library of the cosmos. It is not too surrender, but rather to make a conscious effort to live.

I know a woman who has become cruel and bitter; she plays the game of "Namaste to you, Namaste, Namaste..." but deep inside she is cruel (belittling) and bitter (cuttingly sarcastic) to people she knows. She is a caretaker to her 88 year old mother and is resentful every day about it. She owes me money (for her "life essentials" she said, but begrudges paying me back because she's bitter about re-paying anyone (me included). I say "God bless her" and try to stay out of her way. I can (only) bear her resentment because of videos like this. Thanks.

If you constantly seek other people's validation, there's probably not much going on in your life. Same goes if you can't create a world of your own and be content with it.

life has no purpose. life just is. We are alive and we all got a purpose. whether its solving world problems or providing for our familys we all got a purpose and we should focus on finding it. Just live with no regrets and if you have regrets learn from them. the only purpose in life that i can think of is living to die happy.

I am young and I’m realizing that no matter how many small things I have in life that make me happy I will never truly be happy. I don’t want to sound emo or depressed but it’s the truth. I realize that if I do leave then I will hurt others around me. I am looking for music and family. I find inspiration and hope over a group of people that were not good people but had it good. Just wanted to get my word out there even if there are no reads or likes, it doesn’t matter. Maybe I should look for what I truly want, now. If I do something I don’t want regrets.

Yep, this is true. At least finding a goal in your life makes you value your life. This happens to me.

First off that voice transition, or lack there of, scared me. Second, what I want to do in life costs a lot of money and time and a lot of the things I want to do contradict each other.

I'm not suicidal but like be honest who came here cause they were thinking what's the point in life if your gonna die and every thing you have rn and earned it's just going to get passed on to someone random like clothing we buy clothing and when we die it's just going to belong to a random stranger but life there is a purpose you have to set goals setting goals is what makes life special take care of your soul because that's the only thing that's gonna follow you to heaven not a car a house clothing my point is you have a purpose and take care of yourself stop thinking about this and go have a good day/night !!!!

"To have meaningful life is to give the life meaning.." ive seen this quote somewhere but im not sure by who. If you expect life to be interesting and have its own purpose by just sitting down doing nothing and just expecting.. It wont happen. Do the things you want, love while youre still alive.. You cant just dream one day you wake up, and everything just perfect, and having the life that you want. You have to work for it, and its starts right now.

Life is its own purpose.

Life pourpose is always subjective. Everyone must chose their own. Life is not bitter not sadness and not suffering. You can choose to see good things over bad things or bad things ofer good things; bad things are just easier to notice because they cause traumas. Just flip the tablo looking at the opposite side of the coin when something bad happens and life won't be suffering anymore.

Sometimes I find myself thinking what's the point of live and why do we bother living in a fucked up world if at the end we are going to die. Recently I've been thinking "well I should end this soon, I mean, it's not like my family or my bf are going to miss me, and if they do, it will be just a moment (like when you think about a loved one that is no longer in this world). And... I don't know, the more I think about it I found pointless, without purpose or a goal to achieve. About me: I am 24 yrs, I have a lovely family, a dog, a wonderful boyfriend. I even got a job in December, in a pandemic. And believe me, I am so grateful for those things. But that doesn't change the fact that I see life pointless. Edit: sorry for my English.

Sometimes im staring at my mirror and wondering im i really worth of living, why am i still here, my dad think im a disappointment, it dosent matter how hard i tried in the end im still dosent feel right...i realized that there is no life for me. I'm 24 and still not sure on what's the purpose of our life. I never had any great accomplishments, or like a big thing that I can be proud of. Even not feeling like I need to achieve anything, because everything will be for nothing. We are all going to die anyway sooner or later. No matter how successful I am, how rich I am, or even how poor I am it's all doesn’t matter because we're going to die. Right now, living from day to day is just feels like waiting to die. I don't think I have suicidal thought, but just doesn't feel life is worth living for.

Can you imagine I have a debate tomorrow about this topic but this išnot helping

Life is not meanigless the system that we have created and living is meanigless. It doesn't allow us to explore and live life on our own terms. When we have the freedom to explore and live life on our own terms we will ultimately find our purpose.

Prof Peterson says "the purpose of life is to find a mode of being that's so meaningful..." But meaning and purpose are essentially the same subject. When we talk about the meaning of something, we usually are talking about the message a creator of that something is trying to convey. We ask what is the meaning of a piece of poetry or a novel or a painting or music and we get an answer from the writer or the painter or the musician who created those things. Real meaning and real purpose both presume a creator, but if you're willing to just settle for a feeling of having a purpose, then that's another story.

The key to life is to worship people on Instagram and to constantly be shoveling McDonald's down your pie hole. You have to live your entire life online and rarely go outside or interact with other humans. The best thing to do is to take on a heroin addiction and live on the street. This is the best advice I can offer because my mentor taught me this down by the river that one time.

That I'm afraid is not the purpose, because then it begs the question, what is the purpose to enter that timeless state, it is just a state of being, not a purpose. My comment here is to just make people not stop thinking. The purpose does not seem to be to live, to live happily, to enjoy life, to help others, to help society progress, because even if you do that, to what end, what would the purpose of all that be?

I only want to be happy

Some people say our purpose in life is merely to satisfy ourselves and reproduce, but I believe there's more to our existence than these animalistic ideas. Personally, I always had problems with how nations and cities run themselves and would sometimes have visions where I eradicated all these evils by brute and systematic force. But then I would think about the consequences of taking such drastic measures, and becoming the very evil I sought to destroy.

But telling people that the purpose in life is to find something meaningful in life, can be also wrong, if they spend their lives looking for that and not really living. It's also a trap, to look for the purpose.

Purpose is to live the life fully and remembering that u r only a creature and will pass away one day. Living each day not harming others, living your own life in all aspects. Ok I gotta tell you something.. YOU CANT SCIENTIFICALLY PROVE THE MEANING OF LIFE! You can't study it for decades! It's just.. you can't! You have to find it for yourself. It's like finding a needle in a haystack. If you're sad or depressed or negative (me) you will give up trying to find it. But if you're the complete opposite, then you will go to the Store and find yourself a better needle.

I know im gonna have the same life as everyone has, youre born. Once youre 3-4 you go to school for 14 years. Probably go to university then, get a job and work. Get married maybe, have some kiddos. You work then retire and then you die. And knowing my life is gonna be like that just gives me no motivation as well. At most people are motivated for money or being succesful, at the end we all die.
