@@dannythomas417 When did I mention he was a drug addict? When did I say he wasn’t the best Temptation singer? I simply said Dennis was a good singer aswell!
In the movie The Temptations, the character who played David Ruffin said to Eddie Kendricks, "We are the voice of the Temptations". David Ruffin was the voice who carried the group. I have watched the movie more than a dozen times and I still can't get enough of their magic.
Dennis was too! That's why David, Eddie, and Dennis was touring together as the temptations when David suddenly died in Philly, they were set to do a new tour in Europe and not long after Eddie passed away.
There's no way David Ruffin carried the Temptations. Without Eddie that silky smooth tenor voice could not b replaced. They continued with Dennis without David. Everyone had their preference. David was no better than Eddie.
@@Jay-fb2lv I meant them as separates due to David Ruffin going solo and the song "Statue of a Fool" blew me away. I loved that song. However, I understand what you implied.
May David Ruffin Rest In Peace. Thank God for you. There will never never never be such a rich and glorious voice like you Mr David Ruffin . So glad I got to hear it. Thanks for all you did. Forever my Favorite.
@@patriciasmith8756Stop. The government pumped those drugs into the black community. David struggled to stay clean, he just ultimately lost that battle. You didn't know him. 🙄 He no doubt is one of the greatest singers of all time.
Makes me so angry and so heartbroken that a glorious man like this can be lost to a vile evil abomination called cocaine. David, you deserved so much better, God bless you and your glorious talent.
What an absolute total kick ass performance. It's hard to describe just how exciting this performance is. The instrumentation could not be better. David Ruffin hit the gold for sure. What a shame he's gone in such a painful way. I must have played this song two dozen times. The drummer is a knockout. They all are.
So very sad! Addiction took one of the all-time greats from us, way too soon. Addiction is no joke. If you are suffering, get help! Rip, David. That's not the Temptations.
1967----Saw the Temp's and Supreme's together at Steel Pier, Atlantic City. David Ruffin had broken his right hand the night before; so the "mike" was taped to his cast. OMG. What a concert.
He probably broke his hand when he abused and beat Tammi Terrell and every other woman in his life. He had a great voice, but he was not a nice person. Great voice, but that's about it. Bad dude.
All genious are one short step from falling all over the edge, sadly this happened to this absolutely great singer, the best to come out of Motown,no doubt about that.
That voice! One of the most amazing voices ever recorded. Along with Nat King Cole, Patsy Cline, Donny Hathaway, Whitney Houston. So happy and grateful to still be able to hear them sing. What a gift. 💝
Brandin - . David WAS NOT the greatest singer of all time he was ONE of the greatest singers of all time . BUT NOT the greatest singer of all time .March 4,2020
@@blurryfaseswayez9238 you are right David abilities with his singing had nothing to do with personal life .I do understand what you were saying & I also understand what you said Marvin Gaye said .( which Marvin Gaye happens to be my favorite male singers of all time along with Sam Cooke & Jackie Wilson ). You stated Marvin Gaye had said that David Ruffin was ONE of the best which is true. David Ruffin is a true legend. You stated that David Ruffin was the greatest singer of all time .I was simply saying that David Ruffin WAS NOT the greatest singers of all time but I'm going to agree with what Marvin said & that was David was ONE of the best singers . I will retract my comment about David being an abuser & Brandin thank you for your eye - opener take care 3-4-202
Mandy I don't think so The Temptations still had success even after he was no longer with the group The Temptations David WAS NOT The Temptations David was a part of group The Temptations March 4,2020
You guys are just stupid if that’s the case then why in 1969 cloud nine won them there first Grammy after Ruffin left learn your facts before you speak your saying that bc if David hits songs he had.
THANKFULLY my girlfriend Went with me to NEW HAven , CT 1988 / 1990 ??? EDDIE & DAVID were old and beat up looking , BUT WOW !!!!!!!! they still had most of their pipes.................we were like in the 15 th row or so
BRUTUSPLAC , Don’t get on here talking trash about DAVID or EDDIE. You don’t know what these guys went through to do shows back to back. It was you that was looking rough, dirty and trashy at their concert.
I put on The DR,s Music Plenty days When I needed A Pickup. Just what the Dr. Ordered. Awesome. We Miss You So much Dr. HAPPY 80TH BIRTHDAY TODAY JANUARY 18TH 2021!!!!!
this is a great performance, but i would like to make a correction. this is not the temptations in the background. it is a group of singers hired to perform with David Ruffin, and Eddie Kendricks. i know, because i have the video. it was some kind of motown revue, with Eddie Kendricks, David Ruffin, Martha Reeves, and Mary Wells, and the concert was awesome! Enjoy!:)
We didn't know how good we had it when the Temptations entertained us. Looking at David Ruffin you would never know that he was stoned when singing. That was when we could dance to music, we could relate to the lyrics because we could hear them. My mind is flashing back when he wasn't expected to be on state and all of a sudden he shows up in a beige suit that matches the other guys and sings to an elderly lady sitting at a table. The guy knew how to open our hearts to the good music.
Addiction is a very serious illness and this was something David fought his whole life but never fully overcame which in the end succumbed. He was the voice of the Temptations whose music will forever be timeless.
My says David is the baddest voice. He grew up listening to this era of music. Now him & I play dominoes drinking cold beers play Music of his time and David is his 1st go to...
Love you David. I often wondered! Just how far you' would have went. ❤ they would have had t😂o sing David! Because You one of the all time greats!"David Ruffin is not only legendary but he's one of the Best ❤😮 😢. We love you David ❤
I think the guy with the big afro in white was trying to look like Dennis Edwards, but Dennis was pushing 50 in 1990. The guy you're looking at is a young guy!
I wasn't saying that I didn't enjoy the performance... Just that the guys with David shouldn't be billing themselves as The Temptations if that wasn't them.
Sophia -- David thought he was better than the group as you well know David that was not as successful as he thought he would be after he was no longer with The Temptations - The Temptations went on without David & still was successful David had made a comment that The Temptations were nothing without him if some people would really be honest David Ruffin was close to nothing without The Temptations & the drugs did not get him David got & took the drugs it was not the drugs that was the cause of his death it was his arrogance , his attitude that he thought he was the best singer around as in thinking that along with him being selfish & greedy thats what cause his death & the drugs was perhaps a way David dealt with his failures & his own personal guilt March 4,2020
People may say that David was hard to deal with, or had a bad attitude. We all have some type of issue, and we cope with it by using another form of action to cope. David was nothing but PURE TALENT!! Such a legend. Motown hated that David could perform anywhere, and anyway. David’s true fans didn’t care, they wanted to hear the VOICE. I believe gods word “ everything that is done in the dark, will come to the light “. David’s death was not a overdose, he was murdered. True justice for the death of David Ruffin!! 💯❤️
