is it terrible that I fangirled over the fact that I was briefly in this video then was immediately sad that I took on a sponsor that Dangelo has condemned :(
Their audience isn't gamers though, it's aimed at the casual crowd because there's much more people and their main goal is just for people to spend money
Such a lie!! They even contacted me, even though it makes no sense for my content. The money is shite, so maybe that's what they meant when they said they don't pay 👀
That awkward moment when you’re watching an anti-sponsorship on Raid:Shadow Legend and then having Raid:Shadow Legen plug in an ad in the middle of the video lol
I think it might be D'Angelo has ticked the box for mid-roll sponsors, which allow ads to play in the middle of a video, but I believe it's one of those situations where the content creator doesn't get to choose what ads play-- that's on RU-vid/Google's end. There's a RU-vidr named Jack Saint who discusses it in a video essay and explains why you'll get certain ads on videos, especially if it's not something you are interested in. The long and short of it is, the corporations that want to run the ad will pay RU-vid big bucks to have ads play at the beginning and end of videos, and then RU-vid has a bot that chooses what videos will run the ads. For example, when I watch LeftTube/BreadTube videos, I will often get ads for PragerU, a well-known ultra conservative "university" (they're not by the by), because PragerU has paid RU-vid a buttload of cash to have ads for their bigoted foundation with it's ice cold takes and bad faith criticism to play before videos for "tHe LeFt".
“Look!! My twitter trends are in Japanese!! I don’t speak Japanese!!!” he said in a monotone voice with no smile on his face, his eyes a bottomless pit of black, nothing that would hint at the miasma of fear and agony that he kept buried deep within his soul.
Yay! I have an opportunity to use this copypasta I wrote! his eyes say he wants to reshape my molecular structure into that of 3 of the founding fathers, then a cuttlefish, then finally a fainting goat and then kick my fainting goat ass to Venus, then make my grave a coconut crab nest run over by the cars of no more and no less than 4 communist dictators.
The ad for Raid Shadow Legends on Alizee’s videos are hilarious. They’re so sarcastic and it’s so obvious she doesn’t play, and thinks the game is the worst. Idk how she keeps getting sponsored by them. 😂
Some companies would be desperate enough to get their games out into the public eye and get noticed. So they would try and sponsor as many people as possible not caring about their opinions on the product.
@Christian Vega no. It's something they love to do, and happen to make money off it. 90% of youtubers start it as a hobby. They are lucky enough to make it their full time job.
@Christian Vega what your obviously not getting is why people need the sponsors RU-vid is a unstable source of income and demonetization is a random wide spread problem because they usually get demonetized for no reason and if you rely only on RU-vid for money getting demonitized means you might not eat that week. When people get sponsors and start patreons its so they can make money doing what they love which is making videos for RU-vid. If they did it only for money they would be better off getting a normal job.
@Christian Vega no there are alot of actually good RU-vidrs out there you just need to broaden your view by not watching sellouts and diy channels the worst two kinds of RU-vid channels
I have to admit, I love RU-vid’s ad algorithm sometimes. This is the kind of thing I’d expect to watch in an episode of the Simpsons back when Matt Groening was in charge.
"We do not pay money for it" There is one type of dude who goes around telling everyone that they "never have to pay for sex", and it's not the type of dude who never has to pay for sex...
Creators have no control over ad breaks; they are auto assigned by RU-vid's system, most often by words and phrases related to the video. Raid have forced their way into this video, along with any similar videos talking about the game and it's negative side
Willa Bukata yeah but the cockroaches might be off doing better things with their life other than making a trash game. They could get a job and have a family. They might adopt an ant from the shelter.
The part where D'Angelo says that RU-vid demonitised him for being an adult and then he was like SIKE!... He stated that we likely believed the story which is so true because for a second, I 100% believed that email was sent to him. So yes, youtube is so terrible that I wouldn't be surprised if that interaction actually happened.
@@maxHeadroom325rayxerin Are you really making an issue out of this right now? 😑 I cant believe I have to break this down for you but let's say for instance there was a rumor going around about a man named John who people know to be a conman and a thief based on his past actions. The rumor is that John stole someone's identity. Upon hearing this rumor, I and many others dont doubt it because we already know John to be a conman and a thief so it's not much of a stretch that he would steal someone's identity as well. It's his past actions that led me not to doubt the rumor. That is not projection. It's simply people believing something because a person or in this case a platform such as youtube has lost its credibility in being fair and reasonable to its creators. Since I've heard many ridiculous stories of youtube demonitising videos for petty or baseless reasons, it made the story believable. I'm not sure you really understand what projection means.... cuz this ain't it.
I literally got a bunch of ads for games like homescapes and fishdom and its not basically not just fake and false advertising but are complete jokes of games as well most of the mechanics for both are literally the same i saw a ad that showed the same gameplay mechanics as fishdom and it goes to show how these games can be uncreative and unoriginal as well as complete jokes of games
If I was a company I would definitely want creators to tell people that I sponsored them. Not only from an ethical standpoint but People like their favorite creators and want them to have money.
"Nobody wants to be an influencer, that's just what happens when you have internet access and no job prospects." D'Angelo dropping some fiery comments. I'm dying.
My boyfriend asked me what I was watching so I told him, " video on RAID: Shadow Legends". He said he didn't know what that was and while I was explaining, my dog let us know she needed to go outside. He walked away to let her out saying, "Yeah, I don't know who Nord VPN is". I don't know if did that on purpose, but I'm laughing.
It's like the most cookie cutter name for an RPG you can get. Ask anyone what a name for a terrible, microtransaction-packed, ad-filled mobile RPG could be and they'd come up with something similar.
I played raid for a week and it is the definition of your classic mobile game cash grab. Decent graphics, too many "gameplay features" that make no difference to the gameplay, you open the game and you are bombarded with purchase packs, and the fake image of you can do well without paying money. It's.... A trip
Doctor: *brings up phone * ITS SO FUN YOU WILL BE WANTING TO PLAY IT DURING YOUR 29 HOUR LONG LIFE THREATENING SUGERY AND NOW YOU CAN IF YOU JUST SAY "NO SLEEPY FOR ME DOCTOR". IN FACT YOU DO HAVE TO SLEEP AT ALL! GET RAID SHADOW LEGENDS NOW ON IPHONE OR ANDROID!
That's half the point, the other half is using the fake sense of "friendship" people have with those creators to artificially generate brand loyalty. "Well I'll buy the crappy product, if it means my favorite YT creators will still be here tomorrow".
No reason we should be mad someone else is doing well, so long as they aren't gaining their wealth via exploitation or at the expense of the wellbeing of others. Looking at you, Jeff Bezos.
I think it's not really about the RU-vidr's income, rather how poor RAID maintains their claims. Also, they seemingly pay too little (Multiple comments on this video bring that to attention)
i feel bad for them more than anything, i would hate to put ads in a video i worked on especially with how we’re advertised to every second of every day. sucks they have to do that
@Cheezit Police That's just a self-deprecation joke based in the quote, I never self-advertise. Given my channel, it would be actually pointless aside from annoying. And is VERY annoying.
@@vickcrackerbiscuit3667 the company doesn't decide who sees there ads. Google does. I thought everyone understood how the basics of RU-vid work since it's 2020 but I guess not. The video is about raid. It says raid in the title. So RU-vid shows you an ad that is as closely related to the video you're watching as possible. Which obviously is going to be a raid ad. RU-vid has only worked this way for about a decade so I understand how people don't know this. B and unless you really like the video being interrupted and seeing ads, why do you still have ads on RU-vid? It takes about 35 seconds on Google to realize you can her most of RU-vid premiums features for absolutely free. Never see an ad, background play etc..... You just get a modded RU-vid app that takes a total of 3 minutes to install and setup. It works with every Android phone whether it's rooted or not. I haven't seen an ad in many many years. I'm not going to explain how to get it because I shouldn't have to. Give man a fish, or teach a man to fish. But I will give you a clue. GOOGLE.
This video sold me on subscribing to your channel (been watching your videos often on Facebook lately). I love your videos, and honestly hate that it took me this long, and this old of a video, to get me to sub. Keep on putting out these beautiful videos! Thank you for doing the work we need to see on this platform!!!
That's the play now. Unity just did the same thing with their egregious download tax. "We are sorry for the confusion" is an insult to our intelligence. What they meant to say was "We meant every word of it, but we have to maintain some form of PR", and then they walk it back. That's how these companies keep moving the goalposts: people give them infinite chances after they give boilerplate non-apologies. You ever notice how it's never walked back 100%? Good video!
I got a RAID ad when the video started so I went to make a comment about it but by the time I was about to comment it I got another ad for raid, and then I re-wrote the comment to say how I got 2 ads but then I got yet another ad. Its shocking how they are just plastering their ads on every video on this site.
they can, doesn't mean they do, MEGA encrypts everything so they can claim they don't know anything about any illegal activity in their servers, because their first service was legally destroyed for storing copyrighted content, a vpn could do the same
@@tiagodarkpeasant Tnat's fair, but in the case of a storage service, (... though not really MEGA) - you CAN leave the job of encryption to the client - and have no reason to be *able* to decrypt data. Whereas with VPN you literally have to decrypt the data. Otherwise you aren't a VPN provider, you're just black-holing all data, because the whole point of VPN is encrypted transit between tunnel endpoints (and no further than tunnel endpoints).
@@kmenzel i am focusing more on the reason then the mechanics, there are reasons for a company with access to your data to never look at your data, plausible deniability is one, as you pointed out vpn services have no reason to store any data, and the services that do have reasons to, encrypt on the client, and it has nothing to with being ethical, but cutting costs and not getting involved in someone else's shit
I’m sorry for what I’m about to do. *Raid is a turn based rpg done right. In case you’ve been living under a rock and haven’t heard, raid is a badass mobile game that changes everything. Why would they tell people they don't pay youtubers, that they don't do sponsors. Their's many people who respected them and got the game because they help creators make a living and continue to make content. Just like how Dollar shave club, honey, express VPN and more are respected companies on RU-vid because they advertise with sponsors. Why would they want to tarnish that reputation by posting that. I would think they would want to do the opposite and brag about doing sponsors.
Honey is a data selling company, VPNs don't offer privacy (there is a work around and lots of websites use anti-VPN software to deal with predators who use them to anon upload), and Dollar Shave Club sells real cheap crap. They use the parasocial relationships creators have over people to target an audience, using that fake "friendship" to generate artificial brand loyalty.
@@azarinevil honey doesn't sell your data. it's something made up that strangely lined up with it being bought by PayPal. they make money from their discount codes provided from the website. I suggest researching before making empty claims.
A few years ago when they realized having a bunch of different users on the same public WiFi network was a huge security risk, the internet began to make the shift from http to https, which encrypts all traffic at the server level. Your password wasn't stolen because of lack of encryption, it was stolen because it was broken. While the extra layer certainly would've helped, and seeing your location as being in Mongolia would've thrown them off for a minute, if that hacker is adept enough to break one layer of encryption, then it's only a matter of time until they get through whatever you can throw at them. Please, if you get hacked, change your password and flush all devices from your account before you think about giving someone money Your ISP can only see the domain you're visiting, and trust me, they don't care. Unless your internet is provided by a Catholic school and you're on a gay porn website, you don't need this Try to lead with the region locking workaround. This is by far the most useful feature of a VPN to the layperson. Turns out Raid isn't the only sponsor that lies to you. See Tom Scott's video on VPNs if you have any more questions
@@jabbathetrump187 If it's Cisco stuff, I can definitely give tips, and if it's VPN and Mail Server setup stuff... Maybe. Linux networking was fun but I've basically forgotten how to do it by now.
All the ad spots for VPN's list all the possible, legitimate uses for a VPN, as that's all they can do. Everyone knows what they want to say is "Use our VPN so that your ISP can't track you pirating content". While getting around region locks is a nice second feature, the primary purpose for a VPN it to download illegal content. hence why all the VPN's advertise that they don't keep records of traffic that governments could access if they were kept. No VPN can come right out and say "We'll help you break the law" in their ad, so they have to fill it with wank that gets the message across.
@Nick Moore which would be a good reason to ammend international law to state that crimes online (excempting criminal law that violates the declaration of human rights) should use the laws of the country where the target of the crime is physically at the time
Speaking of false advertising, the VPN companies like to pretend that stealing youtube passwords over public wifi is a thing. It's absolutely not a thing. RU-vid uses https. I am willing to give him the benefit of the doubt and say that he genuinely thought that his password was stolen over wifi, but his password was stolen some other way. Likely his password was stolen via a phishing attack or a re used password that was included in a breach of another website.
Y'know, when someone tries to convince you that something they said was *meant* differently than it was worded, or even tries to tell you that "there's been some confusion" or that they never said it, that's called *GASLIGHTING.*
@@AscendantStoic no it was just somebody who reached out and wanted to partner with Raid $hadow Legends to dislike the video for no cost. Raid $hadow Legends doesn't do sponsorships. /s

I mean, I think that works just as well. Have you seen his course on how to be a successful RU-vidr? He has no clue how he got to where he is. No clue at all.
I mean... COPPA has been around for a while. Hell, they've been doing their job. RU-vid's implementation and execution of the law was the real problem.
@@Uniformtree000 COPPA also needs updating, as it's massively out of date (by the definitions layed out in it, _Rance: Sabaku no Guardian_ is targeted at children)
