YouTube's Fake Animal Rescue Channels 

Jesus christ the first puppy looks exhausted and scared even when the kids pet him. It's obvious it didn't want to be there.

Notice how it is always puppys and small kittens, not grown up animals that may actually fight back when being abused.

This problem is FAR worse now than it was then. BEWARE of ANY of these animal rescue channels who are asking for donations.

I think RU-vid needs to start verifying accounts for "animal rescue" and not just allow kids or random people to just upload videos of them "rescuing animals"

This is honestly disgusting. Find a real job, people, don’t just abuse animals for money.

Hurting young, helpless and defenseless animals for clout is just the definition of heartless.

As a student going into veterinary medicine, this is absolutely sickening. My entire life revolves around the care and treatment of animals, and to know that some people would purposefully hurt them just for clout feels like a punch in the face. It’s despicable, and people like this don’t deserve animals. 😔

I remember watching those vids in 2020 aspiring to be a vet tech and help animals.. quickly I noticed there was a suspicious amount of dogs almost every day in the same situations such as “tar” or random scars and such. Absolutely disgusting I hope all the channels get taken down.

I saw one of these so called 'care' videos where a beaten abused dog had its tail cut off. Miraculously when the dog was healed it completely grew it's long tail back!

I felt bad for people who actually helped animal on tv just to be framed as fake due to how common it is for fake rescuer. What a world we live in.

It’s interesting also that the animals “rescued” are all young and cute, unlike legitimate rescue channels where the animals are often old, diseased, paralysed, etc.

I'm so mad that these people exist..Animals can't communicate with us like humans do but animals are living, breathing beings like we do. Animal's lives matter. Their lives should not be toyed around with.

I found 2 new fake animal rescue channels to report End Games 52 and KL Gaming X that person went from playing video games to fake rescue!

Thank you so much for making this. Always been skeptical of the crazy influx of rescue videos out there, especially when it’s one particular group of people who just happen to come across a never-ending supply of animals that need rescuing, on a daily basis. I’ve also been a bit skeptical of channels that treat farm animals with horrible infections or hooves that have grown way past normal conditions, to where the hooves are curling and crushing the skin. Seems fishy that these channels just happen to come across hundreds of privately owned animals that have been so neglected. People will always find new ways to make a living off the suffering of animals. Just disgraceful.

I can't imagine in any capacity how anyone could STAB A PUPPY without issue, then record it for clicks. Ridiculously sickening.

I also hate how aggressively they handle the animals. They are literally pulling and hitting those poor things. I hate these people with every fiber of my being. They piss me off so much

Recently saw one where they "rescued" a mother cat and her kittens in sweltering hot weather and the "vet" diagnosed them with *hypothermia*. My eyes rolled out of my skull. The "sick" kitten looked like it had been forcibly sedated prior to examination. People were still all "AWWW THANK U FOR SAVE CAT :((((((((((

Hopefully, their accounts have already been terminated, and they have not just changed their channel name. As a puppy owner, and knowing how fragile and helpless they are, this just makes me angry. Some people are just selfish and pure evil.

Poor babies. Thank you so much for covering this issue. Fake animal rescues/shelters are a thing as well. I've been researching shelters in my area and learned that one of them resells dogs from puppy mills and cheaper shelters for profit. Another one was also charged with animal abuse in another state because dozens of pets were found starving (including some that died). Yet despite animal abuse charges they were still granted an animal shelter license.

Based on this video, here's some tips for people to try and spot fake rescue channels: 1) Oddly named "rescue", typically with the world "Animal" in it. For example, "Rescue Animal", "Animals RTG", or "Dog Cat Rescue". I don't know how to explain it, but the way these titles are phrased is awkward, like someone threw it together randomly in one day. Clarification: Someone in the comments gave me a good tip on this, and I'd like to warn people not to jump to conclusions about a channel just because their English is bad. Always take all the evidence into account when you're trying to decide if you believe a rescue is genuine or fake. 2) Clickbaity titles. 3) Animals seem to recognise or react to the rescuers as if they know them. 4) Animals in unusual situations very often. I.e a cat trapped inside a tyre. 5) Photoshopped cover image. 6) The situation does not match the environment. For example, a fishing net in the middle of a random field with no water around, a car parked in the middle of nowhere. 7) Animal looks to be on the verge of death but is later shown to be fine. No recovery steps shown, there's just point A and point B with no inbetween. 8) Poorly explained scenarios in the description. I.e "big dog bites little dog but find him no", is not only confusing but very vague. Clarification: Just like the first bullet point, keep in mind that sometimes scenarios can be poorly explained due to the poor English that the video makers have. Always take everything into account. By this, I mainly refer to the fact that the story is always a very vague story, not just that the English is confusing. The rescuers know what happened to the pet, but it is never shown in the video, they show themselves finding and rescuing the animal without showing anything about what actually happened. 9) Unqualified rescuers. You'll notice the people in these videos are normally children or random plain-clothes people without uniforms or proper rescuing tools. 10) They very quickly figure out how to remove the animal from that situation without difficulty. 11) They are not shown to give proper medical treatment to the animal. I.e they only put ointment on the puppy's injury in the above video and do not dress it with ANY sort of covering, no stitches for serious injuries, etc. 12) Similiar looking animals used in different videos. 13) The same location shown more than once. 14) They don't have proper accommodation for the "rescued" animals, it usually just appears to be some sort of random farmyard. 15) The same rescues happen multiple times. I.e, many snake rescues. How many snakes do you think are out there snatching dogs every week? 16) No details about the rescuers provided. The kids in the video are just referred to as "boy". No name, no info on where in the world they are, nothing. They don't want to be caught. Sometimes faces are hidden or not shown in the video. 17) (added in because of great suggestions below!!) Manipulative music. If there is very sad music playing, ESPECIALLY when they are showing shots of the animal in pain, it is more than likely trying to capitalise on the injuries or suffering of the pet and play with your emotions. 18) Recording begins before the animal is discovered in many or most videos. How did they know to begin recording? 19) They claim to be in one location, but are most certainly located somewhere else. You can check this by watching out for license plates in the videos or by examining the surrounding foliage and the way bystanders walking by tend to be dressed, which gives you a hint about the temperature and/or culture of the location. Also keep an eye out to see what language is written on signs and other objects. Watch out if they accidentally slip up and reveal their true location at any points in the video. This can be a difficult one to pin down for some channels, as some are more careful about concealing location than others. Anyway, if a channel is lying about where they are, they are most certainly a fake rescue. 20) Heavily monetised videos, sometimes there can be 10 ads packed into a single video. 21) The "rescuers" only ever rescuing baby animals. They know baby animals will make them more money! 22) Extremely severe wounds that leave absolutely no scars when they are "healed". Most bad wounds would leave a trace. 23) They post in patterns, such as once a week or every three days. How come they "rescue" animals so consistently? Do these animals have a schedule for when they should suddenly need rescuing? Edit: Going to keep adding in suggestions that you guys put in to reply to my comment! this same thing happened a couple weeks ago on this app named “tiktok”. this young girl around 17-18 years old “found” some ducklings in a bucket of oil. but people caught on very quickly seeing the ducklings were in a bucket, yes bucket of oil. no ducklings would just end up perfectly in a bucket of oil. and she filmed herself “saving” one and cleaning it up. it disgusts me how humans treat animals. i have a baby lab myself and i would do absolutely nothing to hurt him or any animal for that matter. it also disgusts me how i’m only a minor, 14 years old and yet knows more to never ever hurt a animal than these disgusting adults in this video, or in the video from tiktok. i hope their moms are disgusted of how they raised them. smh.

Animals have a sense whether the person is trustworthy or not that’s why the animal looks so scared of the person who is *”saving”* it. People who do this are disgusting and have no reason to live anymore.

For anyone wanting to help animals in need, my favorite nonprofit charity is called Cuddly. You can just donate to them in general, or you can pick specific animals to help. Many are rescues from abusive homes. Animals have a very special place in my heart, so this kinda stuff keeps me up at night.

I keep trying to inform people that they are watching animal abusers pretending to rescue animals that they purposely injured.

How do people sit down and think, “I want clout on the internet I’m going to abuse animals and pretend like I’m rescuing them.” It’s so disgusting that people have gone this far for clout. This is on the same level of bad as the Lovely Peaches situation, except people are praising these fake animal rescue channels, and believing that these are real! In the first channel these 8- to 10 year old boys who looked like they were “rescuing the dog.” So these kids in the first channel are abusing animals for clout!!!! How can people be so sick and sadistic, let alone children! There should be more laws against animal abuse, and animal abusers that abuse animals this badly should go to jail for a long time, instead of getting their pet being taken away and being let out into society.

Thank you for bringing this to our attention. I too was fooled when I first watched a grey cat taped up in a box and thrown in a landfill in Vietnam, with the fake rescuer riding a motorcycle and asking for directions of where someone supposedly reported hearing a cat. It is truly heartbreaking.

I've rescued a baby kitten thrown on the side of the road. The thought of filming it or taking photos hasn't even crossed my mind until we fed and warmed it up.
