Trevor Bauer's video on Darvish: • What Makes Yu Darvish ...
Hey everyone!
There has been no shortage of great starting pitchers this season. However, one of the more intriguing names in the NL Cy Young race is Yu Darvish. Despite being hurt by injuries throughout his career, Darvish's comeback is far from unexpected. Oh...he can throw 11 pitches too.

My wife and I were at the Rangers game when he got One Hit on him. The stadium gave him a standing ovation. We knew he was going to have an amazing career. Fast forward to 2017 when he "melted down" with the dodgers and saw all the hate the rude dodgers fan gave him. Then the trash can was heard around the world. I am glad he is with the Cubs. Thank you for this (literally no pun intended). Darvish has been wonderful to watch this year. He looks rejuvenated since last year's All-Star break. He has always been a complicated, intellectual, introspective pitcher, and with such a huge arsenal, the temptation is to overthink pitch selection. What is unfair is that the failure against the Astros in the 2017 Series -- for which he was unfairly blamed -- got in his head. It hung like a cloud over him -- a failure for which the conscientious, introspective Darvish blamed himself -- until the secret of the Astros' cheating was revealed. It's good to see fairness and character prevail.

For the 4th time in 6 years, the Cubs have at least one SP in the Top 3 for Cy Young. Each year a different pitcher has been a frontrunner (Arrieta in '15, Hendricks in '16, Lester in '18, Darvish in '20).

He's always had insane movement on his stuff, he's just struggled with command at times, leaving sliders out over the plate, etc. But now that he's locating his disgustingly absurd repertoire where he needs to, and is making better pitch choice decisions thanks to his trust in Caratini, he's a true monster. I don't think he's had a catcher in MLB that has used his true potential up until the Cubs basically gave him his own.

When I first heard of Yu Darvish being signed to the Rangers I was thinking “wow this guys must throw nothing but strikes” and then I saw how he pitched, however the one think I could never get my eyes off were his reddish blonde locks, (2012 rookie year look it up) I was in 2nd grade as well so those were the two things I was looking at. And then I had a feeling of “hey this guy looks good he could probably be our ace of the future” and then injuries became the early answer to the riddle of why he looks so good. As soon as he came back I didn’t think he was the same as before. And when he got traded to LA the next year I just couldn’t believe the reason why, until we got big nillie Willie from LA. As soon as I saw him in the WS against Houston I just knew that he’d be blown up there was just a feeling. And then I saw him in Chicago (btw choke Cubs choke) and I started seeing the version of Yu Darvish that I’d been expecting to see in Arlington. And I was surprised to see that he’s throwing 96-99 mph at 33-34 yrs old. I’m honestly sad that we got rid of him. Imagine the trio that we couldn’ve had with him and Lynn and Minor. However I do know that at the end of the day, baseball is mainly a GM sport, and they’ll do what’s best for business.
