Yu-Gi-Oh: Art Of The Cards ► Forbidden Maiden 

Important note! I failed to mention that the two girls shown behind God in "Solemn Scolding" end up becoming Darklords as well, which is depicted in the cards Darklord of Delight and Darkload of Pleasure! Definitely look them up, they are really cool cards! And thanks to everyone who pointed this out!

The story continues on with Condemned darklord corrupting others into darklords as seen in "Just one forbidden drop", including the girls on solemn scolding becoming "Darklord of pleasure" and "Darklord of delight"

And now the lore is still being continued as the two girls appearing behind god in solemn scolding are now darklords

The World Legacy is my favorite of Lores in Yu-Gi-Oh!

Yeah. A lot of backstories in YGO cards are actually very interesting, especially the Duel Terminal ones. Also, the OCG name of "Darklord" is "Datenshi", which means "Fallen Angel"

Always loved the card lore, sometimes I wished to see them making a Anime based on the story's of the cards lores...would love one for the Gladiator Beasts

The forbidden/fallen angel/God lore one my favorite lores.

I like how she was just either finding these forbidden items or went on an illegal treasurehunt and solemn scolding probably happened a lot of times and then she trys to pull a fast one and steal something that actually belongs to god personally and he just basically curses her to get out....and then she pulls a unoreverse card on him a long time later and due to the powerimbalance of her striking down god for a hot second, everyone else just becomes a darklord too. Nothing but betrayal up there, eh?

Condemned Darklord is in fact based on Pandora according to the wiki.

I love how the effects make sence, scolding is the only set card as she had already used the other 4 set cards, condemned maden allows you to use quick play spells from your hand and witches strike is a counter card for the solem cards

This is an aspect of Yu-Gi-Oh I've always enjoyed and I'm glad you're covering it. One thing you could add is highlighting how the effects of a card can be a reflection of that story/character moment - for example, Condemned Witch can search for "Forbidden" spells, reflecting the idea that this woman is now indulging in her desire for those forbidden artifacts. And perhaps Condemned Witch's ability to tribute herself to summon a fairy could be a hint to alternate redemption. In any case, card effects are also a clever way of detailing elements of a story and so that might be something to consider in future videos.

i would love to see a arc as her being the main villain, using dark-lord and forbidden cards

I'm pretty sure the forbidden girl is based on Lilith

I read a pretty interesting theory once that the book in Forbidden Scriptures was the one that Aleister ends up using. Also I like to think Solemn scolding happened before Forbidden Scripture, and after being given a final warning the maiden decided to steal once more leading to the final Judgement and being Strucken out of heaven. I also like to think that the time between her corruption and getting revenge would've taken probably thousands of mortal years considering how it seems thats how the nature of that sort of thing is when it comes to deities, short to them but a long time to us

Don't forget Forbidden Droplets, which is coming from a kind of chalice. I think she managed to escape with the chalice and is probably threatening other Darklords with it's holy liquid.

Isn't this series like TGS ANIME's yugioh trivia? But all in all it was a good video and i think everyone liked this series. Keep on with these videos.

You're gonna have a ball with the World Legacy lore. That series of cards can literally be made into a full length movie because it spans multiple archetypes like mekk knights and orcust to name a couple.

This series is exactly what I wanted but couldn't find on youtube! Videos that talk about the artwork and story of Yugioh cards, not their game details. Please make more, even if just giving your opinion on the artwork of random cards.

Solemn Johnson is what I like to call the God guy on the Solemn cards.

Personally, My Favorite Set of Cards that I would love to Hear more Lore Support for is the "Risebell" series ~there aren't too many cards, but depending on how you read them: The Bond Between Brother & Sister Saves the Day... Or a Dark Future awaits the once Kind Older Brother...

The world legacy art of the cards would be amazing.

I definitely want to see more from this series. There's always the gagagigo story, hidden arsenal, shadolls or warrior of the wastelands

I'm really happy this is something you decided to start! It's something I've wanted to see be explored on youtube, how the yugioh cards themselves (the characters and/or objects shown in them) intertwine with other cards, what kind of story do they tell and how do some give birth to other cards. I really hope you continue this as I would def like to see more, but it would also be nice if you included the cards' effects into their story or how they might represent the owner, as in make a comparison between the duelist and the cards their using, similar to how the 5Ds dragons effects (or the type of decks they chose) were compared to their owners' natures. Mentioning in which season of the show the cards appeared would also be interesting as it would help to create somewhat of a timeline of how much time passed for the characters/objects to transition from one card to another. Like in this video, if I remember correctly it started from a simple card featured in DM and we get to see the final result of the story in VRAINS as a Link monster. Also, sorry for the late reply to this video as I'm going through some of your videos right now.

The more reasons to tune in, we had few lore channels here, and some of they tackled not that much card stories to glad you make this series, GANBATE!

It's Probably the story of Adam and Eve and the Fight of Angels and Demons. And probably goes like this "Lucifer Rebel against the God" in card "Darklord Rebellion". Corrupted the Maiden to Touch, Take, Drink the Forbidden Items that God Warned them that will make them leave his side, card "Solemn Warning". The Maiden, like Eve, got tempted by Devils Words and got hold of the Items and learned about the rebellion of the First Angel (Forbidden cards) but God also knew what she has done. He Scold her for it and she tried to defend her self so much to the other maidens disgust, card "Solemn Scolding". He offered his Judgement and she was Found guilty and got Banished from the "Sanctuary in the Sky" and God's side , cards "Solemn Judgment" & "Solemn Strike". She became a Sinner/Witch and tried to Strike God back for her Punishment, which probably failed, card "Witch's Strike" (in which God Isn't even trying to Defend Himself like in "Rebellion"). She then found the other fallen and tried to Help the now card "Darklord Morningstar" to make an Army from Fallen Angels/Darklords. Card "Forbidden Droplets" the item that corrupts if used by impure Souls, Like the "Forbidden fruit" in Garden of Eden (thus making Darklord Pleasure + Delight + Nasten etc). -Side note: You can understand that from the card "The Sanctified Darklord" in which you can see God Purify "Sky Scourge Enrise", that he tried to come in contact with Him in the card "Darklord contact" (Sinners that Understood their sin and tried to find Atonement). Now she is the "Condemn Darklord" with a big Smile on her Face, because the time that "they" will Strike God back is approaching, along with their Leader "Lucifer, Darklord of the Morning Star". Afterthought And probably these Decks also have to do with the Story and the Consequence on the Material world. "Counter Fairies", "Sky Scourge" and "Darklords" - the Heavenly side "Lightsworn" and "Twilightsworn" - the Human/Material world side [Because Twilightsworn are the opposite to Lightsworn with the Good Version and the Bad Version (for example Jain, Twilightsworn General and Jain, Lightsworn Paladin] "Burning Abyss", "Lair of Darkness" and "Dark World" - the Hellish side [for the "Sky Scourge" effect (banish Fiends and Fairies)]

She could be an early lilith lady of lament, in some early judeo-christian text a character named lilith is known as the first woman. Before Eve, lilith was created along with Adam by god, but because she didn't like the thought of being submissive to adam or god she was casted out and became a demon. Sorta similar

Loved this vid but 2 things: Firstly and this is just my thought the darklords are kind of representative of demons/fallen angels. Marie the fallen one had the name changed to darklord Marie to kind of signify this. So I think that after becoming condemned darklord she joined with darklord morningstar (reference to lucifer) and is now maybe leading up to an attack on the sanctuary? We'll have to see. Btw forbidden droplets is a new card continuing the artwork The other thing is I think it would be cool if you went over all the artworks of cards related to the story in an order that tells the story

Btw man i wanted to share with you some ideas i have about the story and some cards that gave me some idea of relation. There are 2 cards that caught my atention when looking for this archetype, and they were The unhappy maiden, and the unhappy girl, both of theme, have similitudes to the girl in the forbidden cards and witch. Both of them have things falling, like the feathers of the darklord, and also, she is red haired and blue eyed, and she is sad and unhappy like the forbidden girl. And its like, if she was a mere mortal in the earth, before beeing in the sanctuary, also, in one of them, she is looking down, and in the other she is looking up. Also, she have a basket full of Red flowers in both cards. They can be a reference to the flower she had in the sky, but, in the earth. Im just really loving this story, and your video was amazing , inspired me a a bit! thanks, good video man!!

Ok, that was cool. I really like the story of how the angel has disobeyed God and after she was struck down, she came back much stronger than before and got her revenge where she then ascended into a darklord. I can't wait for more stories like this.

I don't know a lot about religion myself, but in regards to the maiden's character and her subsequent changes (Witch, Darklord), she reminds me of three characters: Eve, Pandora (both of which you mentioned) and Satan. Maybe she isn't referencing any of these characters directly but instead is a combination of infamous characters from religious stories. She represents Eve in that she went for objects that she knew were forbidden. Like Eve, she was tempted to see what all the fuss was about with these items and why they were forbidden and so, she went for them. And just like the former maiden, she was banished. And while Eve doesn't match exactly what the maiden's character is, the latter does display the former's shortcoming in that temptation got the better of both of them. She could represent Pandora in the sense that she was curious. Pandora is often a misjudged character because many think that she is evil when in reality, she was just a normal person (I think Demi-God if I remember correctly) who let the curiosity get the best of her (i.e. when she opened Pandora's Box). Unlike Pandora, however, the former maiden did intentionally go for these items knowing that there would be consequences if she was caught, but that was in part due to her own curiosity like Pandora's curiosity as to what was in the box. And lastly, and this is the most controversial one, she reminds me of the fall of Satan. According to stories based on God, Satan was God's most beautiful angel. However, just like the former maiden, Satan pissed off God for some of the stuff that went against His teachings and morals and because of this, He banished Satan from Heaven. And just like the maiden, Satan would fight against God, His teachings, and would find ways to corrupt others to go against his former lord. Again, she might not be any of these characters and I might be way off, but that is what I can piece together based on the stories that I heard in school. It's just my interpretation and nothing more.

Upstart Goblin with the Pot of Greed cards is good. Also, it's not specifically card art, but the Duel Terminal story is interesting and spans into several archetypes past the end of the Duel Terminal.

1. Would've the events when the maiden got caught was Scold, Judgment, then Strike? Because Solemn Judgement is part of that set. 2. This is a hunch, but the Forbidden Maiden story could relate to how God vs Satan in some parts of Christianity came to be. For the ones who aren't familiar to that, but there is a story that some does believe (i need to double check with my minister, but this is what I remember), that Satan ended up rebelling against God, like Forbidden Maiden did and ended up that Satan got cast out of Heaven with the angels who was with Satan to hell. I know it's farfeched, but the parallels match.

I love this series so much! I wish more cards archetypes would cross paths. Like Manju/Senju becoming part of the Cyber Angel archetype.

I like this video and being Christian myself I think your speculations are correct. But anyway, this is a new and fun series and I am proud to be a subscriber for something like this because I don't know much about the card lore either. Though, I'm pretty sure she's from Greek mythology, not christian lore. Still, she has many similarities to Eve.

A small joke/speculation about Darklords is with Darklords of Pleasure and Delight being specifically corrupted by Condemned. Their design does not match other Darklords, not even Nergal who was released alongside them. Almost like there are 2 factions, being the classic or traditional darklords and Condemneds new ones. The small joke is the names of the two smaller Darklords. Of Desire and Of Pleasure being hints as to HOW they got corrupted

She is based on the first woman archtype she is eve,pandora,lilith,and maybe she has a little of persephone due to her "marriage of sorts" with morningstar since back in the day witches were considered the his wifes it makes sense she went from the First maiden to the first witch.
