The Elder Entities have amazing artwork. I imagine a Cthulu card is either in the works or hasn't been done already because it's such an obvious choice.

Real talk These cards have the best artwork of any yugioh card Konami has ever made. They are so artistic they almost can be mistaken for magic cards, for their painting like artwork focused on realism in colors and shading

I can see these as collection pieces, although I’m not sure which would be more valuable, the rare type with all the effects getting in the way of the artwork, or the common variant with the art in full display

The reason that azathot nuke the oppenets field is referring to that azathoth apparently is dreaming the whole universe, and if woken up, will immediately destroy it. Probably why it disables card effect too, since when he in theory awakens, nobody will have a chance to respond to him ending the dream.

A Fish I feel like you’d just see Nyarahotep and you’ll be like “that monster looks really creepy for a card that isn’t involved in the plot”. Or you’ll see Nodens, Cthuaga, and Nyarla in a row lol
The reason Azathot was banned was because phantom knights could summon him on the opponent’s turn, meaning they were locked out of one type of card effect that turn.
They should really errata Azathot and Norden so we can use them again in Entity-based decks. Make Norden once per turn and Azathot only usable in the archetype.
@@cbaslee1 That's true but it also has main deck support so you can def build a deck around it, and all the extra deck monsters have synergy with each other. They could probably add 1-2 main deck monsters and it would easily be an archetype.
Contrary to popular belief Hastur is NOT a Lovecraft original and is actually only mentioned once in his stories also Hastur is the half brother to Cthulhu plus he is my favorite god in the mythos
I truly hope we can get some support for the outer gods someday, the art is 10/10 and the lore behind them is truly amazing, although we do have another yugioh archetype inspired from Lovecraft that being the Tindangle cards, inspired from the Hounds of Tindalos Lovecraft was one of a kind and he revolutionized the way we see and create horror movies and stories 10/10
Sweet! Like the Entity archetype. They blend with other cards really nice. Gods are such interesting concepts with so many varieties. Nordin & Azathot are really good cards.
@@alucard5841 It's eff works on any special summon and is not HOPT. Ppl used to do some absurd FTK or handloop combo with it. Even without those loops, it's an one card starter in any combo deck.
@@azureblue99 also it can be summoned with instant fusion, making it very easy to bring out and do its thing, or just bring out another monster to get Nyarlathotep out.
The King In Yellow was also the name of a fictional play in the book of the same name by Robert W Chambers - everyone who reads the play goes irrevocably insane in one way or another. I think Hastor’s effect is a reference to this - it’s presence makes the enemy cards go mad and therefore switch sides
Azzathot is banned because with phantom knights rank up magic launch you can summon it during your opponents turn to stop them from playing for a turn but they wanted to unban the rank up magic
@@Nightxx9199 If you wanted you could make it less horror based and more detective based? You could still have the monsters and mind fucking while not having it be straight horror and more about solving a big mystery. Or you could go online and try an online campaign.

Imo they could easily bring back Norden if they'd just finally ban Instant Fusion, as for Azathot though, they would definitely have to do something about the effect or that PK R.U.M. for it to become unbanned. I just want to finally play a legal dedicated Lovecraft deck for once...
There's a tabletop role-playing game called Call of Cthulhu, obviously based on Lovecraftian horror. I feel like a lot of the background concepts of the original Yugioh wouldn't be too out of place tbh. Restless spirits possessing cursed golden items, using psychic magic and dragging people's souls into a black abyss... That's a fun concept right there. Time to run a campaign tbh
They need to add some new entities. With azathoth gone the archetype basically ceases to function. Get cthulu in there, get dagon in there, get yog-soggoth or shub. Perhaps an alternate azatoth. Azathoth: the ignorant dreamer. Perhaps they could have a timed effect the same way final countdown works, instead of immediately destroying everything, a slumbering Azathoth slow awaken.
I want either more support for these guys and for them to become a more serious deck or a super creepy spider deck im talking like if you have arachnophobia you can't look at the deck
I love this archetype because cosmic horror and lovecraftian media is my favorite. However it could use a bit more support. Specially with Azathot being banned. Perhaps some non-extra deck monsters.
Fun fact, The King in Yellow is not from Lovecraftian works, even tho people often say so. He was first introduced in literature by Robert Chambers, and is about a theatre transcript that drives people who read it really mad. The King themselves appears to those who are involved in the story causing the most outrageous reactions.

@@thecardboardboxl3922 not Persona itself, but Cthulhu does appear in an early Megami Tensei game (don't recall if OG MT or SMTI). And well as I said, early Persona had Nyarlathotep as the big bad.
Azathot was banned not necessarily because its effect was too strong, but rather because of The Phantom Knights Rank-Up Magic Launch allowing you to summon it during your opponent’s turn and locking them from monster effects for that turn, which was also super easy to do

Hey TGS, I love Zenonzard and the character I have as my partner is the comic book king himself Youkili Rindou. He is by far my favorite character and his Theme song "Colorful World" is my absolute favorite song in the game. Its just so much fun to play the game to and in case your wondering, I play a white deck.
If someone just showed me the card artwork of the Entity monsters, I quite honestly never would have thought them to be Yu-Gi-Oh! cards. The artstyle is just entirely different from the usual anime-esque artstyle used for most other cards. They look more like something ripped straight out of the D&D Monster Manual
I love that thanks to Lefty driver and righty driver, I can summon beings beyond the comprehension of man. Put simply, you see a man approach you with two screw drivers and a mad look in his eye. You run the hell away.
For anyone wondering, Azathot was banned because not long after Nibiru was released, Lunalight Orcust was the best deck, largely because it was a combo deck that could easily make nyarla then azathot. Azathot has an effect that says when it is summoned, your opponent cannot activate monster effects for the rest of the turn. This meant summoning Azathot as the 4th summon was a cheap way to play around Nibiru and keep playing a combo heavy deck like Lunalight Orcust. Since Nibiru was a new card specifically made to counter combo decks it made sense to ban the easy out to it.
Here's an interesting topic, Things from real Yugioh that the anime barely shows or talk. -Boosters (I've only seen actual Boosters in the original DM and some parts of GX, in all other series they got their cards by some magical way or in the garbage) -Talk about yugioh terms (I've only seen terms like OTK or Control deck in the GX manga and a filler episode of 5d's) consistency or ratio or explain them -Making a deck (The only time in which I've seen a character making out a strategy was when Yugi was building his deck to face the pharaoh or the semifinals of battle city) -Collecting cards (I've barely ever seen characters just wanting cards to collect them or showing their collections, every time they got a card they add it to their deck, I always wondered what Playmaker did with his previous deck)
Do Meklords please. Appropriate given Wisel debuted in Antinomy exclusive event. I look forward to when they become playable in Duel Links especially since it's suggested you can use all the individual Meklord Emperor parts (Top, Attack, Guard, Carrier and their upgraded parts).
We'll have to wait a while still as we just started the WRGP arc and Wisel will probably become playable when Primo/Placido is in an event exclusive character before being unlocked. Cards like Wisel Top 3, Wisel Guard 3, Wisel Attack 3, Battle Return and Spark Breaker will help when they become Duel Link exclusive cards and might also be a sign that Konami might consider printing the individual parts to support each Emperor. What's you're favourite Wisel part just wondering?
Primo will be the next after Kalin (or Antinomy he they decide to unlock him first) as I think Aporia will be much later down the line when reaching the Arc Cradle storyline with Zone. I really want to see Meklords be a force to reckon with in Duel Links especially against meta Synchro Decks like Shiranui. It'll be fun to see how they handle them. My favourite Wisel part is either Wisel Top 3 for its additional Spell negation or Wisel Attack 5 for inflicting double piercing damage and negating/destroying traps when your Meklord battles once per turn. In all honesty, do you think we'll see the individual Meklord parts be printed in the future? Weather it's in a Collection Pack or anything like that. I hope so.
That might work but you don't really see lots of Union monsters being used in the game right now. Also, I'm not if you notice but in Duel Links but the artwork for Wisel Guard and Wisel Carrier are swapped. Hopefully, that'll be corrected when they become playable cards.
Here's an idea how to make a support card like Meklord Emperor Creation (the card that Aporia used to summon Meklord Astro Mekanikle) a real card if ever printed. You can only activate 1 Meklord Emperor Creation once per turn. 1. Send 3 "Meklord" monsters with different names from your hand to the GY, and if you do, Special Summon 1 "Meklord Astro" monster from your hand, deck or GY ignoring the summoning conditions. Then, equip this card to that monster. 2. During either players turn (quick effect), if the equipped monster would be destroyed by battle or card effect, you banish 1 "Meklord" monster from your GY instead. 3. Once per turn, you can target 1 monster your opponent controls that was Special Summoned from the Extra Deck, treat it as a Synchro Monster until the End Phase, also it's effects are negated. 4. During your Main Phase, if you control a "Meklord Emperor" or "Meklord Astro" monster, banish this card from your GY, and if you do, equip 1 Synchro Monster your opponent controls or in their GY to 1 face up "Meklord Emperor" or "Meklord Astro" monster you control and if you do, it gain ATK equal to the original ATK of that monster. Then, gain LP equal to that monsters original ATK. Your opponent cannot activate cards or effects in response to this effect's activation if you control a "Meklord Astro" monster. You can only use this effect of "Meklord Emperor Creation" once per turn. What do you think?
I think the reason azathot was banned is because they wanted to unban phantom knights rank up magic launch, the card allowed azathot to be summoned on your opponents turn, so they banned azathot meaning that phantom knights rank up magic launch could unbanned
it truly is a shame that this deck is now nigh unplayable due to the bans. I would love to see other lovecraftian god referenced with other card types. I could imagine a ritual based cards called bound/sealed entities that reference entities that are sealed away such as cthulu and his slumber and one of the gods sealed in kardath. I can imagine a universal ritual spell called "awakening of the entities" and it can only be used to summon ritual entity monster and using extra deck monsters grants special effects. A interesting link entity concept would be gods of specific creature such as yig, who is the father of snakes or dagon, god of the deep ones. They could be named something like "founder entity" or "king entity". I don't really like the link card names but that the best I could come up with. Some main deck monsters could be races from his stories like the previously mentioned deep ones or the mi-go and they could be group-esc cards like goblin attack force and people running about. some pendulum creature could be thrown in there that might worship or work for other gods such as the shoggoth or Thuun'ha, thus pay homage to their ability to visit the extra deck
To be that guy, I believe that Cthugha wasn't made by Lovecraft, while Hastur was only mentioned by him, and another writer, Robert W. Chambers, made him what he's known as today (and something Lovecraft himself loved, according to the wiki). So yeah, the synchros are base on beings in the mythos that Lovecraft didn't make, adding another layer to the theme, since the xyz are his Outer Gods, and the fusions the Old Gods he made for a religious friend.
