You make good videos, man. Nice and to the point, but informative. You're not spending the whole time showing off how much you know with irrelevant bull$hit.
Hey, how do I get it to stop from oozing out when it’s finding all 9 points, my printer keeps messing up partially from the oozing and the other half it messes up I don’t know 100% why but like it prints on half of the bed and the other half it scratches the glass bed I have
You seem to be the only one who can explain this without taking 35 minutes, and while making sense. I have an Ender-3 with a 32 bit main board, and getting the BL-touch to work has been a lot of trial and error since it seems nobody has my exact setup. But thanks to your video, I've got a good first layer coming down, and I'm printing a test benchy.
Hey 3D Printscape and Oddman1980, I have the same setup, ender 3 with 4.2.2 mainboard and I also am having trouble with the BL Touch, so much so that I am thinking of removing it and going back to the good old ways. the main issue I have is when auto homing the display reads as 15.78 z axis. then the offset is down to around -5 but when I start to print, the nozzle is scraping and not allowing filament to extrude. I have to tune it while in motion, lifting the extruder by 1mm in some case but then the whole thing isn't level. honestly wish I hadn't bought it now. happy 3d printing
@@cybertrophic Hi, I did get it sorted eventually, I watched more RU-vid videos and had to compile my own firmware following the instructions, I then updated the printer with that firmware and it worked, little fine tuning here and there but it worked. For the firmware compiling I watched teaching tech and followed what he did, also google worked for me Let me know if you need more help Hope you sort it.
I too would like to thank you for this. I had experienced a lot of disappointment with the fact that I couldn't get the BLTouch to work. It sat unused for weeks in my frustration. Then RU-vid recommended this and I realized, hey, my carriage wobbles like crazy (I thought it was a feature for flexibility). I got everything set and now I'm off and running. Thanks again!
I bought a new CR Touch and spent the last two days pulling my hair out, because every tutorial was useless because it made zero reference to this exact issue and assumed everything was working as expected. You saved my sanity and the CR Touch is working amazingly. Thank you so much.
Yea. I just spend whole day with setting bltouch without sucess. And now, at 21:00 this guy just casually say: "Yea i forgot to mention this stuff in last video." And then i learn everything in ten frickin minutes. Great job dude.
Hey, your videos have helped me out greatly more than once now, I'd just like to make a small suggestion, it would be really helpful to get a good view of your lcd screen when following along with your instruction. Thanks again!
I just want to say that this video and the guide on your website is the best bl touch guide I can find on the whole internet. After you install the firmware, all other guides just stop. You are the only person that correctly explains how to set up the offsets to let the bl touch do its job. Thank you so much!

I been banging my head against a wall over this upgrade and now I’m here and see you are using the z adjustment in the move panel that I could adjust yesterday but now today it won’t move from zero. I just swapped out from the marlin 1.1.2 back to the 1.1.1 assuming that’s was why but it still won’t let me move that. I don’t know what I did? My only solution… more coffee

@@joshsmith7812 Hi. What was the z height when you ran the autohome and what were the rest of the values you came up with? Also, another thing to try would be to kick off a calibration print and adjust the z-offset while your printing if your firmware allows it.

Hi, how's it going! for starters your vids are great and you've helped me a lot by watching your vids. So to break it down I have an Ender 3 Pro with a 32bit board. I also did the MicroSwiss all metal upgrade. I recently the issues starting coming after I added a cr touch to it. I've tried to calibrate the z axis numerous times based off the video on how to set the z axis. after attempting to adjust it i come across these 3 issues. either the extruder will move to the back right corner of the build play raise above the build plate and start extruding filament in a large quantity with even moving around, or it will crash into the build plate and drag across everywhere, or last but not least it will hover too high while attempting to print. I've spent a couple months watching videos and I've had to walk away fir a week or two at a time to maintain my sanity lol. I hope you can assist me . thanks!

hi, i have the same board and bltouch, the issue that i am having is when trying to do set my z offset, once z is homed, it moves up to 12mm, so then move the z axis down once it hits 0.00 it will not go negative, i have reflashed btt firmware several times and still the same results.
@@3DPrintscape yea, I had done both and still wouldn't go neg. So I followed your video with using the branch that BTT has for the board, and it worked, now other issues have crept up, like.. while printing the CHEP Cube, it will just stop and extrude loads of filament in a straight line, then continue printing and no extrude
That seems really odd, I haven’t seen that behavior before. If you send me a copy of the gcode I will try to print it on my printer. My email is admin@3dprintscape.com .
I followed your video step by step but when I store the settings nothing saves it goes back to the way it was every-time before I did the settings is there anything I'm missing???
Mine is still way to high, and when I go into the move axis, Z axis, option, I can only go do to 0.00, which leaves my extruder about 5mm too high. I can't get into the negative numbers like yours. Needed to disable software endstops. M211 s0
My extruder is wiggly, but I cannot figure out how to get it to be stable. I don't have a side-screw under/beside the CRTouch like you show here, and I tightened the rollers as much as possible, but I can still move the extruder up about a 1/4" under either top roller. Any ideas?
New to 3D printing so thanks for this. I have an issue where even with my Z offset maxed out it’s still way too high off the board so I can’t use the paper thickness trick. Any idea what the solution is…?
i always measure the two sides of the gantry, level them manually with steppers disabled. (takes 3-5 measures and adjustments) then i auto home. I find that the two motors never align perfect after a powercycle. its not much deviation but 0.1- 0.15 from right to left side makes a poor firstlayer and not good prints. I tried synching the two rods with a belt ontop but it still happens after every powercycle. Also when you plave something on the plate your hand applies a slight pressure that affects your leveling. since you have a bltouch just make a matrix of your plate once, put locktite on the adjustment screws and live your life :)
@@reyalPRON Interesting thought. If you do that make sure to put some foam or something between the table and printer. It will help level things out more.
Something like the insolation foam pads you can get at home depot are pretty hard but will help keep the printer level and reduce some noise. @@reyalPRON
Thanks to your other video I was able to build my own firmware for mine, but it won't let me move the Z axis below zero. is there a range I need to edit on the firmware to allow this or am I missing something else? can I edit the firmware I already made in VS or do I need to build it from scratch? thanks so much! love your videos!
Hi. If your z axis goes down but wont go below 0 you have the software endstops enabled. You can disable them with m211 s0 or in the config by commenting out #define MIN_SOFTWARE_ENDSTOP_Z .
Hi there. Great video. I am following word for word. My Z probe offset is set so I am getting drag on the paper but when I set a print away it is still printing in mid air as if it is not taking in to account z probe offset input. I have stored settings etc too so not that? Do you have any idea of problem? Thanks
Hi. It sounds like the z-offset still isn’t set correctly, did you account for the initial value (I think its +5) when coming up with the final value? You could try to kick off a test print and lower the z-offset while its printing until the filament is sticking correctly. If you go that route, make sure you save it afterwards.
@@3DPrintscape Hi thanks for the reply yes I account for that. It was +10 on my printer. Any idea how I would do a test print on my purse i3 pro b. I was able to adjust the z offset height during printing a couple days and and now it just seems like it is not taking the offset setting into account at all and also it will not adjust during a print...
@@ScottAndJen If its set right and not actually utilizing the setting, I would try to erase your EEPROM. Just make sure you make a note of the setting you still want so you can put them back in afterward.
your video on the bltouch helped me a lot, now I'm here trying to set the offset, but when i got to Move Z mines does not go past "+0.00" it wont go negative therefore I cant level the bed manually to se the offset
Hi. That behavior is odd, every machine I have worked with has let me go into a negative offset. So its just stopping when you get to 0? At that point, were you able to move it back up to a positive number? I have seen the system get stuck before, and just trying to see if that’s the case here.
Its was a firmware issue, I have the neggatives values now, but even with that plus re watching the video, i still cant get a proper aligment to the nozzle for a good first layer
3D Printscape I am also having an issue with the auto leveling. For my ender 3. My print head is too far away for some reason. Even though the bed it at top height.
Hi. It still sounds like the z offset isn’t set right. One thing you can try is to start a print then adjust the z offset while its printing. Once you get to the right offset doing it that way, make sure you save it so you don’t have it do it again.
My extruded seems smooth when running but I can move it around a lot by shaking it. I can move it up and down and different directions. But tightening up the bolts on top and bottom don’t change that. I’m just not sure how much play this should have.
Hi, when I change my z probe offset to -2.9 (after measuring), when I autohome, it adds 2.9 to the 10 (default z level) so it sets it to 12.9. Idk what is going on, but am I doing something wrong?
Hi. Something sounds off. The autohome should stay at 10 and the offset comes into play when printing. I would try to clear setting and run through the process again.

Ah he's talking about the steppers, you must have the "loud" board in it....iv just upgrading from the 1.1.4 to the v4.2.7 and your motors sound like the old board drivers......
@@mickyovts3872 Ah ok. Ya i have the 4.2.2 board with the standard drivers in one printer and an SKR Mini in the other. The noise output from the steppers connected to the 4.2.2 board is significantly more than a silent board like the skr mini or 4.2.7.
i know this is an older video, but have you ever seen an issue where the z axis doesn't change no matter what value you're putting into the z-offset? for some reason its not accounting for the z-offset when i try to zero the z-axis
I had some issues when calibrating the Z offset. I have an SKR Mini E3 V2.0 and a TFT35 with touch. I started the Z offset and was able to set it okay, but when I went to check it, it was off by .2. Also when doing an autohome after setting the Z offset it would home, but the try to go down too far and the steppers were grinding. I had to turn off the printer at this point and back on to fix the issue. It was not just with the Z offset though. This also happened after the initial auto bed level mesh was complete. One other issue I had was when doing the Z offset calibration I would sometimes get a message the it failed and I could not get the messagebox to go away until I turned the printer off and back on. I am using the precompiled firmware from bigtreetech that I just installed.
@@3DPrintscape There is no extra movement. The issue only happens after I use the CR Touch. Another youtuber suggested homing it in the center of the bed or crash off the side of the bed which seems to be what is happening. This will require me to compile the regulat marlin build for the CR Touch which I have not done as yet. I am in the process of doing this, but I have not figured out just how to change the configuration files yet. I wish there was some kind of written step by step guide, but I have yet to find one. I will just have to keep watching the videos and take some notes.
@@3DPrintscape well, I finally got the Z-offset to work. It took me awhile as I was looking for something called Z-Offset Wizard in the btt tft35 touch display. I had to watch your video several times before I got it in my head that there was no such thing. Anyway, it is working now. You do realize that adjusting the Z-Offset you don't have to use the up/dwn buttons, you can still use the display's rotary knob. I find it much easier to do that.
I have a cr touch and noticed that your instructions are a little different here than on your cr touch video. Mr extruder is a little high. Can these steps in this video be used to make correction?
My bill touch will auto home, but when it finishes auto homing, it stays up instead of going back down to zero. When it stays up, it says that zero. What do I do?
I’m going bald here after two days of troubleshooting... Hi. The autohome being at +10 makes sense, and is normal. If the printer starts printing mid air, then the z-offset is not set right. Mine won't allow a postive z axis adjustment. I auto home, auto level and everything is just fine. I go to print and it acts like it is looking for the Z stop, and obviously there isn't one, so the head smashes into the bed until it can't move any lower. Then I end up turning off the printer. Nothing has changed since the last time I was able to actually print. For over a week the BLtouch worked well. Now This. Any ideas?
Hi. This is a pretty common issues if the wiring doesnt match the firmware. Are you using prebuilt or firmware or did you build your own? If you dont have the z-stop plugged in, the probe stop should be connected where the z-stop.
I followed your instructions to the T got motherboard 4.2.2. The problem I have is I have to do an auto bed leveling every single time before a print otherwise my printhead tries to bury itself in the bed, I ended up with three holes in my bed before I figure that out. why is it doing that. This thing seems like more of a headache and it's worth.
Hi. I run the g29 command at the start of each print to make sure i get new readings but its not necessary. Run the bed level then make sure to save the settings. It sounds like the settings are not being saved or something is moving around, may be the extruder carriage?
I dont know about anyone else, but Ive been having mixed results, but I think I got it now. If you already have a Z-offset set and you want to change it. Maybe you modded your machine or you removed the bed to pull a print, etc. And your set offset isnt printing correctly. What I did was change the Z-offset back to 0. turn the machine off and on, home, auto bed level, home again, move Z down to 0, then change Z-offset. Im running an Aquila X2 with Alex Firmware BLTouch 4x4. Although, I have the CR touch. Im not totally sure if Im just doing something wrong or if thats the process? Any suggestions are appreciated.
@@3DPrintscape 'sigh', if im understanding this correctly, the reason im having problems is because im not "saving" the setting? I mean, it saves the bed level mesh, however its always unchecked when I turn on the machine, but the Z-offset is always at what i set it at. Ive seen there is a "save settings" is that what youre referring to? I like to bed level and check offset before every print, so im not sure this is a problem.
@@bear5016 You want to save the mesh after you run it the first time. Then from there, you add the G29 command to your machine profile in Cura to kick off the mesh at the beginning of each print.
@3D Printscape No i just run it every print anyways, because i remove the bed and put it in the freezer to remove my prints. Or are you saying i have to add G29 code or else it wont use the mesh?
Great video, I was able to install my bltouch with your help following this video. Hi. Thanks for the feedback. I have it running the mesh at the start of each print. You need to add the g29 code to cura to do this. I cover that in more detail in this video ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Xiy-oLLrB1k.html .
I followed the steps in this video and your other video that you upgraded to the 4.2.2 board and I cannot get my Z height to stick. After bed leveling and auto homing, my z offset sits about a +10 which is monster gap. After lowering the Z and I see I need to be at -1.6 or so, so I then set that within the Z-offset menu under the BL touch tab. I save the setting then re-home. After homing, the z sits even HIGHER at about 11.6🤯🤯🤯 No idea what to do here.
Hi. The z offset only comes into play when the print starts. When you auto home, it should be at +10. Changing the z offset shouldnt change the auto home position.
New to 3d printing, so bear with me. I installed a 4.27 board on ender 3 pro, updated firmware, and installed a cr touch plus the firmware. I followed your video to set z offset. On the display there is no place to save offset numbers. What am I doing wrong?
my bl touch goes to the center of the plate with x and y axis perfectly but the z axis doesn't move when the bl touch pushes out the probe. Instead it just sits in the center 20mm up and moves the probe in and out. Any idea what's going on? Please help. If I touch the probe when it's moving it starts going down then stops. (I have board 4.2.7)
Hi. There are a lot of factors that couple impact what the z offset is including how its mounted. If the number is negative and things are working as expected, it should be fine.
I have an ender 3, i'm unsure if it's the pro or not. I had a few questions, can I keep the creality or default firmware? I'd prefer not to remove the clips, also does this work with a heated bed? It looks like yours has had some glue used on it for adhesion?
Hi. You can keep the Creality firmware if you want, I just not a fan of it and the thermal runaway protection didn’t exist in old versions and is questionable in new ones. I assume that if you are asking about the clips you are using a glass build plate, if that’s the case they should stay. Mine still has the magnetic adhesion material on it (this comes stock with the Ender 3 Pro) but I will be removing it soon.
I installed the same firmware and I don’t have a “set z offset” under motion and my printer won’t store my settings even with an SD card in my printer. I’m on a regular Ender 3. Anyone able to help? Driving myself insane
I tried this method and my offset is still not right. It looks good right until it prints then the nozzle moves up and away from the bed. I have not been able to figure this out for 3 weeks now.
This is killing me. When I auto home it goes to the middle but then as it starts the process it does one test then blinks red continously and won't allow me to change the z axis like in your video. Any suggestions?
I made the adjustments easily and my z axis moves using the controls or while homing. When I begin a print the z axis does not move up throughout the print and if I go to move it in the controls it reads NaN. Any idea how to fix this?
Hi. It could be related to the bltouch wiring, or the wiring not matching the firmware being used. Make sure the wiring is correct based on the actual pinouts.
I have marlin 2.0.5.3 on the ender 3 and it does not allow my Z move to go below 0. so i cannot set it before the print, I can only use tune/Bed Z after the print has started, which can be a pain in the ass as it is hard to see if I have enough squish whilst it is printing (especially on small prints)
Hi. One of my other subscribers had a similar issue and said it ended up being a confirmation in the firmware. Since your running Marlin 2.x, I assume you swapped out the mainboard, or did yours come with the 32bit one? Also, are you using a prebuilt version of the firmware or did you compile it?

Hi. There arent any settings that need to be changed in the firmware for the extruder. You will want to adjust retraction settings, e-step, etc on the printer/slicer once you flash the firmware.
hello ive been following your videos and just cant seem to get mt CR-Touch to work. the front of the bed lays fine but the back looks like its too low so the fillament doesnt sick to the plate. any ideas?
I've done all of these steps. My problem is the settings are not saving. I'm having to reset the z offset after every print, and for every start up. What do I do?
Hi. Im thinking something may be up with your EEPROM. What happens when you hit save settings? Also, do you have an SD card in when doing it? If not, try to put one it.
The beep is normal. If the eeprom doesnt work and there is an sd card in the printer it should save to that and pull from it if its in the printer on next load. @@christopherzieske7854
Thank you for this very clear video. I have a creality cr-10 v2 with BLTouch installed. After the autohome, I go to move the Z axis down by .1 increments. However, as soon as I turn the dial (even turning it to have the z axis go up, not down), the nozzle moves down to the bed and tries to bury itself in the bed. After that, the control is fine. Any ideas about what I am doing wrong? I had this printer running well for months - recently have had adhesion issues so I decided to try to recalibrate it. Thanks.
Hi. What board are you running? I don’t have too much experience with the CR-10 but it may be worth erasing your EEPROM and running through the z-offset calibration again.
I installed a car touch on my Ender 3 4.2.7 silent board and dual z stepper motors and every time I do the 9 point level my z offset changes even after storing my offset settings any ideas why this is
I see you're changing the z offset with a 0.01 tolerance. My Ender 3 pro only have 0.1mm tolerance and I can't get it right, this is too much. What fw are you using for this? What can I change to fix this?

I followed both videos you have set the z offset but when i go to levele bed option it does the middle and then comes to the front right of the bed for the next point and then doesnt touch and go to the next measurement? If i manually level the bed with paper its even . When i start a print its not even close like a half inch away . Ready to rip cr touch out and send back. Prints fine with out
Hi. Try clearing settings (resetting the eeprom) and see if that changes anything. Its odd that it goes from the center to the front right, it should go to the front left.
When my bltouch is auto homing the sensor hits the bed and keeps going with no retraction. All the test and resets work but the home doesn’t. Any ideas other that switching the black and white wire? Hi 3D Printscape, when I do an auto home on my Ender 3 pro none of the end stops work the x,y,z just sit there making a noise until i turn it off and on again. Thanks
Hey chap upgraded my board to a 4.2.7 and upgraded screen aswell and firmware adjusted the z offset but it keeps raising it self when starts printing ?
Hi. It sounds like a firmware or wiring issue. If your using the creality firmware, make sure you have the z-stop connected still, then make sure the 5 wires for the bltouch are connected and in the right order.
when i hit the first auto home, the nozzle is always pressed to the bed so I have to move it up into positive numbers, and then when i print it doesnt touch the bed, im new to this and im having such a bad time
Hi. It sounds like the bltouch isn’t getting engaged. Can you confirm that when extended, the probe on the bltouch extends beyond the nozzle on the extruder?
My printer still prints way too high and also seems to go up when making a straight line. I set the z-offset correctly and stored the settings so I don’t know why it still does this
Hey sorry just wondering if you know why my Z-axis wont auto home after installing the touch? I've yet to update my Marlin for it, but I figured I'd try to auto home after installing it and for some reason it just stays where it was at 0.00 Z. Is it just cause I unplugged the Z when it was placed there instead of at home? And any idea if updating my FW would help or should I put the Z axis back and then redo it all? :
Hi. A lot of connection changes happen when you install the BLtouch, so it doesn’t surprise me that things don’t work correctly on the existing firmware. Honestly, I would just try to update the firmware next to see if the auto home gets fixed.
I did it exactly like this (found out 3,1 offset, I set 3.0) and when an actual print started, the nozzle dug deep into the bed and carved a trench. What the hell?
I have an ender 3 pro SKR mini2 with a newly installed BL touch per your video @3dprintscape. I'm using the standard BIGTREETECH-SKR-mini-E3/firmware/V2.0/firmware-bltouch-for-z-homing.bin firmware off of github but when I flash the SD, insert and try to autohome my printer just drills into my z endstop instead of homeing to center. Any suggestions? (also posted on your discord)
I added a bl touch to the ender 3 and updated the firmware but when i try yo go negative for the Z offset it doesnt give me an option. It stops a 0. but if i go into configuration i can change it to a negative value. Any idea why?
Hi. Ya thats related to the software endstops not allowing you to go negative. This can be turned off when you build the firmware or afterwards with the M211 S0 gcode command. marlinfw.org/docs/gcode/M211.html
@@3DPrintscape thank you for your help. I will add the firmware I got from the site you put 10$ a year for so I don’t think it’s editable and I don’t know how to add that code. Is that in cura? Thank you for your fast response and help!
Hey man I'm having trouble with my printer it's an ender 3 pro I have installed it perfectly and when I tried to bed level my extruder crashed into my print bed and so I turned it off but now my stepper motor won't go down, the info screen now says endstops z please help
@@3DPrintscape I did actually fit this video after writing my comment. I actually ha e a problem where I can't lower the nozzle past a certain point. I have been on your discord and have even loaded your version of the firmware from your site. I have no clue how to resolve. Let me know if you can help
@@IlanPerez I was thinking it was the software endstops, but if your running my firmware, that wont be the case. Is the z axis hitting any physical blocks or anything? Also, can you send a video of what you seeing to me on discord?
Hi, It depends on what mainboard and screen you are using. If you are using the stock one, you will want to lower the z-axis to the point that its almost touching at one corner, disable the steppers, then move it around to all the corners making adjustments as needed. After that is done, you will need to adjust your z-offset again.
@@3DPrintscape ok thank you. And yes I'm using the stock ones. Also, when I print something like a 20mm calibration cube that my X-axis value is 20mm, but my Y-axis is like 19.8mm and my z-axis is about 19.74mm or so. Could my steps/mm be off on my Y and Z motors but be good on my X?
When I go to motion I don’t see Z-offset. I see runout sensor, outage recovery, velocity, acceleration, jerk, steps. Maybe I’m running a different firmware than you?
I'm doing something stupid but I don't know what... I set the BL Touch up with the SKR Mini E3 V2 and I went for option two where you replace the z-stop with the 2-pin BL Touch probe sensor. When I Auto home though the printer finds X and Y just fine, but goes up when trying to home the Z and not down. It finds a z home of 11.85mm consistently but it's flashing ???'s at me as even it knows that's wrong. It's like the up and down for the z is reversed (is that possible??). I will say I've only just built the Ender itself and never run it (I wanted to get all the main upgrades done at the same time).
Hi. Are you still having the first issue? The second issue sounds like the software endstops are enabled. You can disable them in the firmware or by sending the M211 command to the printer.
@@3DPrintscape ah thanks for replying! Yeh I eventually worked out that I needed to put all 5 BLTouch connections in the one 1 row when using the homing firmware. It doesn't seem to work when I replace the z-stop with the 2-pin BLTouch connection i.e. split the BLTouch connections. And yep, the stops in firmware we're preventing me from determining the negative z offset. So, pronterface M211 S0 for that one. I had more issues getting the z offset calibrated as it kept wanting to print in mid air. I think it was referencing the z offset from the current z offset, so my offset always seemed to be about -1.5. Once I set it to zero and then determined z offset it was more like -3.5mm.
My bltouch came with the solid one piece connector that connects into the dedicated port on the skr mini e3 v2. So I left my z endstop switch plugged in but no one has a tutorial or video on how to setup the bltouch with the zstop still plugged in. How do I setup the probe with the zstop?
@@3DPrintscape after changing the firmware should I get rid of the zstop switch and unplug it or should I leave it in place and just adjust it down a little bit so it is simply there as a failsafe
@@3DPrintscape so I've been at it all day think I got the offset part down. But when I go to print with the g29 gcode added in my slicer, it goes to level and fails on the first probe, then carries on to start printing even tho the bed is at least a good 3-4mm away from the extruder.
@@uthmaanahmad788 Ok, i dont change the hoe settings there. My guess is you are trying to make an adjustment that would tell the printer that it can go beyond the size of the bed. I had this issue when setting the X_MIN_POS and Y_MIN_POS settings in the firmware.
I have a 4.2.7 board with The firmware downloaded from the Creality website. Ender-3 Pro- Marlin2.0.1 - V1.1.2 - BLTouch - TMC2225.bin My Auto Home Z-axis defaults to +10 which is too much to compensate for with a Z Probe offset. How do I change the default of the Autohome?
Hi. The firmware by default is set to +10 but that can be accounted for with the z-offset. You will want to home the printer, then lower the z axis until it gets to the proper height. That value will then be your z-offset.
@@3DPrintscape Thank you for the response. So I go to prepare/move axis/and then lower it. Do I then store the setting or something to lock it in? After I lower the Z axis it is reset back to 10 every time I home again. If you are referring to the Probe Z-offset, the max it will go to is -9.900 and that is still way off the bed.
@@ryanbridgham2172 Take a look at the z offset section in this article, I think it may help. 3dprintscape.com/guide-to-install-a-bltouch-on-a-creality-32-bit-mainboard/ If your still having issues, you can also reach out to me on discord. discord.gg/Bu94EYVkrU
I set up the skr mini 3 v2, bl touch exactly how you did and did the bl touch homing z .bin and flashed the printer but I do not have the same options on my printer I don’t have prepare or control and when I try to set the z probe offset it does nothing it will not get the nozzle closer to the bed btw I am new to printing
Hi. Did you end up doing the TFT35 as well? If you did, there is a nice wizard that does most of the work for you. If not, i need to know more about the firmware you used and what behavior you are seeing.
@@3DPrintscape yessir. the z axis consistenly defaults back to +5. I have followed both this video and the previous one covering the BLTouch. I'm thinking it has to be an issue with the code on my end.
@@3DPrintscape Additionally, my extruder starts to print off the bed whenever I do manage to start printing (Which usually requires me to manually move my extruder during the heating phase) it typically starts off the front left corner of the print bed
