Right about the Beatles and replacements (by order of the Crown). Paul died Fall 66.. Scottish boy Billy makes fake for decades. M15 plant, what a mess. Voice prints, finger prints show it. He went to jail in Japan for Impersonating Paul McCartney. The pot bust revealed his fingerprints were not the same as in 66. Japan had to save face. THAT was the problem. Scotland Yard got Billy and Linda back to the UK. But the fab 3 saved the British economy. By order of the crown, Billy plays on. Denny Lane (Moody Blues) wrote for Wings not Billy. Just put Justin Haywards voice on some of those tunes....you will see. Billy did not write Live and Let Die. Not a Beatle song, eh? That be Denny. Linda knew it, the one legged one nearly blew it. The mystery continues and Billy tours. Saw him. He sucks. He signs his bills with his right hand. Busted at the restaurant and told my friend who questioned it to "mind his own "F*ggin Business". George Martin and Billy ran the show from 67-70. 36 months and only one real record (Pepper). The rest was just filler nonsense and leftovers from the Paul years. Space fillers like Abby Road "medley". George hated that, but they took his songs finally. He shut up. He was real. The rest is BS. I knew Makunda Das his Hindu Priest when I was active duty Navy in DC (DC ISKON Temple - Hare Krishna). So sad. Lennon was going to blow it open and reveal Tavistock Institute/CIA role in "the Band". That is why they could not play live. Billy towers over the others at six foot plus. Paul was 5'10".Billy admits it all in his book published by Maaca Press. His own. Few can handle the smoke and mirrors of the music industry. They really are evil. I walked out on record deals and tours as it is only to get you into debt so you will never see your money. Tom Cruise owns nothing. He is a corporation. I went to Medical School. Most never get paid. Peter Grant was different as he was a criminal. He almost went to jail with Bonzo for murder after nearly killing Bill Grahams employee in Oakland on Day on the Green 77. I am from the Bay Area. Zeppelin paid his medical bills, like they did when Rodney B. (the DJ, KROQ, I know him) overdosed on cocaine at the Riot House in Pagey's room and stroked out. Page paid for it all. I never brought it up with Rodney. The Bill Graham Presents roadie (BGP) nearly died at UCSF ICU from head injuries .NOT COOL. See what cocaine and "Scarface" ethics get you? Grant was terrible. Violent and unstable. Zep went to his head. I do not miss the music industry at all. …no disrespect and I’m NOT being a d, but…the 1977 Kashmir I feel was the pinnacle of it’s live versions. The Mellotron that Jones used sounded just like the studio version - like a live Moroccan street band. Then there’s Bonzo’s epic endings - these were enormous! The 1980 versions sounded a bit tired and John largely played just to get through the songs. There are a few good ones from ‘80 but….the ‘77 ones definitely were the ones. I mean…listen to Cleveland 4-28-77…it’s just larger than life itself.

What i like about 1980 LB is the sustained D note Jones was able to play behind the descending chords. This he could not do before. But i definitely understand why you say this, you are not wrong.

@@JCM-LedZeppelin-Stories oh yes. This playing D pedal point on bass pedals (pun, and no pun intended,) during the descending parts in Kashmir is demonstrated wonderfully in all the perfectly balanced SB recordings from 1975. For me personally this is a huge part of why the ‘75 SB concerts are so enjoyable. Robert (while visually stunning in ‘75) struggled tremendously but I give him a total pass knowing what he did for the first five years. He earned his spot and fried his voice for us the fans. Jones really shined in ‘75 as his role got even more laborious and crucial. I learn so much from every frickin thing the guy does. He’s 1000% worthy of my undivided attention. Bonzo too!

I also like the mellotron more! The version of Kashmir 5-24-1975 I like most! Thank you JCM again for your great work! I was at the 6-21-1980 concert at Rotterdam, The Netherlands. I had just than saw the TSRTS movie, so the concert was a bit disappointing for me. They were than, in 1973 at their best! I still remember Kashmir and Heartbreaker those were great!

Randy Jackson is a GREAT musician. I really admire his style and consistency, reminds me of Triumph. You were in Germany in 1981, so cool! How was the vibe back then, at the actual cities? Thank you very much for watching!

@@JCM-LedZeppelin-Stories Vibe was great, especially with a great dollar/german mark exchange rate…which helped a poor airman stretch that paycheck a lot farther than back in the states. I still have a pair of JBL 150A speakers that I bought for $750, and which were selling for $1500 back home. And the Monsters of Rock outdoor concerts in the early 80s……legendary!

@twobikesandadrone - I was over in Germany at that same time myself. Did you find that Zeppelin 1980 tour poster at this poster shop in downtown Frankfurt? i recall stumbling across that shop & they had prints of all the great acts that toured Europe from the 70's thru the 80's. (Stones, Zepplin, Hendrix, Pink Floyd, Zeppelin) Still have a few tucked away somewhere.

@@rwc3500 No....I think I either bought or traded for it with a fellow Air Force member in my dormitory. Were you stationed at Rhein-Main AB or an Army post near Frankfurt? I was down at Sembach Air Base btw. Was supposed to go to Minot AFB in North Dakota but swapped with a guy who didn't want to bring his family to Germany. Can you believe that? Crazy!!!

I saw Zeppelin (and Plant) play 'NFBM' in 1977 @ MSG in NYC.......OMG, THE ENTIRE BUILDING WAS SHAKING ! Same w/Plant @ Meadowlands arena 1988 (?) !

Totally agree! I own a copy of that book actually, that started my idea of making my video on In Through the Out Door back in 2022 imagine!! Man, that Santana show at Dortmund really cooks, what a GREAT band!

I bought his first book in 1984 as a teenaged called “The Final Acclaim” …and I was a subscriber to his “Tight But Loose” magazine till he stopped production of it. Absolutely Kirk, the circumstances for Zeppelin's reign are never to be repeated. It's not just chops, but the times. I don't know if you have, but i did an episode on The Making of the New Yardbirds thay may interest you. The meeting of these 4 guys was definitely DESTINY man!

Yes, he was all about evolution. You can tell modern drummers at the time, and New Wave had an effect on him. Pretty sure Bonzo was listening to Porcaro, Stewart and all the new greats. John Bonham was always a terrific musician. I think his only "bad" live year was 1975 where he played it a bit too safe. Thank you very much for watching!

Nice one L.B that Purple record must have a great sound! The good thing about Carouselambra is the Bass parts can be done with a drone approach, meaning Jones could have played the chords a la Kashmir's descending part. Now the intricate bass work on the album does give it a very slick feel. The 1978 Rehearsal Bootleg suggests this missing bass as something that enhances the track. Thank you very much for watching!

@@OutOnTheTiles Yup. I've looked. I keep up on the Zeppelin trading circles. The audio used on this was different - either from a new source or it had been specially treated for this video.

With the drone effect of the Bass notes in A i can see it happening. Not much different from a Trampled Underfoot scenario and Jimmy using the 12 string for this one. Rehearsal tapes show the GX-1 had a great low end. What i think the challenged remained was in it's length and the boys not rehearsing THAT much!

The energy was maintained for sure, as Page said, the band was so exciting they HAD the energy for it!

This really speaks into his "problems" being related to injury and not "personal lifestyle choices" so much. Beck even said Page was a better acoustic player!

As you know,Robert’s son died in 1977…..obviously traumatic for him. He blamed himself for not being there to help. So when Logan was born in 1979 he promised that he was going to spend as much time being a father to him that he could. So he cooled off on everything Zeppelin. Makes sense to be. He owed us nothing. Check out the Audio Book “A Life”the Robert Plant bio. It’s 10 hours long, but really informative . Makes you see Robert in a different light. It can be found here on RU-vid for free. Cheers

The band admitted they did not know each other like they did in 77 they really never knew each other the same again after Karac sadly passed away.... This thing of Plant not owing us anything sure, I agree but that has nothing to do with what I said in my comment . Led Zeppelin waited way to long to come back in 1980 . Jones and Plant during the Knebworth interview sure didn't act as if it was a possibility to wait that long . Page even at his worse was ready to go and was chomping at the bit to get back . Seeing the band shy on stage after ruling the music 🌎 throughout the 70's was very weird. Knebworth, Copenhagen in July of 79 and all of the Euro 80 tour for me was very odd . BUT it's Zeppelin and therefore I will listen to it all . ✌🏼

Plant is known to rib others in the biz. Even his band and himself. Granted his jokes sometimes go down like a Led balloon 🎈 🔥

Don't know for sure, but it has similar "feel" to a lot of Nugents Double Live Gonzo material. Definitely Wang Dang Sweet Poontang and Baby Please Don't Go. Listen and see what you think.

Great catch there! Yes the musical shift in 4 years seems to have grown from the huge scars of losing both Lennon and Bonham in 1980.

@@JCM-LedZeppelin-Stories 1980 is definitely a demarcated point. I believe MTV started in 1981 too so that’s another demarcation point in the other direction.

I have a fixation on 1980. The energy i feel on all records released that years is eerie.

@@JCM-LedZeppelin-Stories I agree. 1980 is fascinating…it’s sort of old world meets new world. I see pictures of Lennon in 1980 and he seems to be almost part of what would be an emerging modern era…(he was into New Wave like Blondie, and the B-52’s, his whole vibe seemed geared towards the emerging decade and beyond yet he never made it out of the first year of that decade). 1980 has something similar with LZ. Their tour was a back to basics approach that seemed to be informed in some part by punk and New Wave, their look was a bit more informed by the current bands of 1980…Robert wore T shirts and jeans, Jimmy wore t shirts and JPJ had a shortish haircut and subdued fashion…only Bonham held out with his beard. Even LZ’s musical pals and influences were changing for the times. Robert and JPJ shared the stage with Pretenders and Attractions in late 1979. John Bonham became a massive Police fan. The times were changing but they (like Lennon), wouldn’t go further than late 1980.

It's a very interesting point. I know Jimmy seems more well spoken in interviews, especially in latter years, but I think it definitely is him? It's that West London accent that I think is damn difficult to copy..... have a listen to the EPK with Jimmy and David Coverdale,Neal Preston is interviewing. It's here on RU-vid. Bonzo had a slightly deeper voice.....my favourite is when he tells Earl's Court that football is a load of bollox 😂. But, you do make a very interesting point..... certainly got me thinking and listening to that section again! I met Jimmy in 2005 and he has a very high speaking voice. Thanks as always to @jcm!

Mr. Spaulding what gives away its Jimmy is Bonham's laugh when Page says they got a number which clearly mocks Robert's on stage banter :) Also when he goes for the good evening line, he is pushing his soft tone into the extreme.

That's a strange thing right? I went back and checked the studio version. It puzzles me why Jones decided to use that part so upfront. Page did a fine job. Sometimes i think Jones should have just played Bass on this one as his lines on the record truly make this song a POWERHOUSE.

Yeah Jimmy was a strange man here, but on Since he managed to play great stuff and Trampled. I think he really got bad cases of stage fright!
