Outside of all the Kreia content, I always come back to this video. I love hearing Zez talk but it’s also so heartbreaking to see he never went through with what he said.

" Men have been taught that the ego is the synonym of evil, and selflessness the ideal of virtue. Here the basic reversal is most deadly. The issue has been perverted and man has been left no alternative - and no freedom. As poles of good and evil, he was offered two conceptions, egoism and altruism. Egoism was held to mean the sacrifice of others to self. Altruism - the sacrifice of self to others. This tied man irrevocably to other men and left him nothing but a choice of pain: his own pain borne for the sake of others or pain inflicted on others for the sake of self. When it was added that man must find joy in self immolation, the trap was closed. Man was forced to accept masochism as his ideal, under the threat that sadism was his only alternative. *This was the greatest fraud ever perpetrated on mankind.* " -Ayn Rand

I think a lot of you are being confused on why Zez-Kai Ell is acting so wishy-washy. SO allow me to share with you guys my interpretation. KOTOR 2 highlighted the greatest problems of the jedi with its three masters. Master Kavar represented Jedi who saw themselves as "Good". He represents the jedi who see themselves as morally just, perhaps even morally superior to those around them. Jedi who think that as long as they, for the most part, follow the Jedi Code and simply do what they see as morally sound, then they'll be alright. A fallacy so obvious in the nebulous nature of morality it's childish, naive. Master Vrook represented Jedi who saw themselves as "Correct". Vrook saw the Jedi Code as gospel, and the Jedi a religion to be doted upon and worshiped. Anyone not adhering to this code to Jedi like these were zealots, extremists, bad seeds to be purged form the Order because they are not doing what is "correct". I really shouldn't even have to say why this "holier than thou" attitude is dangerous. Master Zez-Kai Ell though? He represented all other Jedi. Jedi who did not see themselves as morally good, Jedi who did not 100 percent believe in the Jedi Code. He represented Jedi who had their doubts about the Order. But he also represented the same weariness of those Jedi who went along with the Order regardless because... well... what else was there? For Jedi like Zez-Kai Ell, there was simply nothing else but the Order. He speaks about his doubts on the Order, but does nothing about them because he has no alternative, THAT'S what he represents.

@Dimmster
@Dimmster 5 лет назад
Poignant. I'd say struts represented self-righteousness and the Jedi who were obsessed with *their* role in the order, and, the world. They have to be right. Jedi are the best. The order has a hierarchy for who is best. Most right. Most esteemed. Others can't be greater. Other ideas can't be greater
@wewerna6191
@wewerna6191 5 лет назад
@@xx_b4rr3l_xx This. And especially the Jedi who believe their own will to be superior to others, unbreakable. Those who believe they cannot fall to the darkside. Those who bathe in the forbidden knowledge, depriving everyone else of it and justifying it that they are the only ones who can handlle it, comprehend it without being influenced by it. Atris, Mace Windu, SWTOR's Nomen Karr.

I don't get Zez-Kai Ell. He admits the jedi were wrong and something was flawed in their teachings. However in the end he tries to cut off the exile's connection to the force again. Did he turn afraid to actually help the exile?
@Kraethas
@Kraethas 6 лет назад
I think you take it as both of those. And add the context of it being incompleted. The restoration of voicefiles is good in that we can try piece together what they were doing with the story. However, they were either not used cause they didnt fit with the released version or they hadn't the time to make em fit. Its good for speculation though. Personally i thought that come dantooine vrook had persuaded him that cutting you off was the right thing. And that's a mixture of cowardice/lack of self confidence in what he saw in you, plus vrook pulling the "im old" ergo rank card.
@hardleftturn7274
@hardleftturn7274 6 лет назад
It’s because there are no solutions in Star Wars. The Jedi exist to put down anyone who uses the dark side. There is no dark side or light side those are shorthand terms of the way one can use the force. you either use the force as a tool selfishly, get addicted to it and turn into a monster, or you use it as an ally, become selfless and suppress your own ego and lose your humanity. Both extremes are basically trading your humanity for power. Once zez kai ell was around the other masters again he fell back in line seeing that even though his criticisms are correct there is nothing that can be done to address them.

I don't think it was cowardice. I think if you listen to what he said, he seems to believe that loss of connection to the force was necessary for them to understand what was going on within the force, and that it was time for all of them to follow in giving up the force after their attempt to fight the battle.

I love how enlightened he is and how he does not behave like the other masters. I enjoyed seeing the hypocrisy of Vrook and Atris when they turn on your character for being broken and choosing a different path. A stronger path. Letting them decide your fate was nothing more than a mistake.

Zez-Kai Ell is the good man who did nothing. We're all faced with such choices in life, and our decisions show what kind of individuals we are. Zez-Kai Ell was faced with such a choice when Meetra Surik returned from war to face the council. He could have easily said "Hold on guys, let's not make any rash decisions. Let's sit and think about it a little bit. What are the implications of life existing without the Force? Can we at least entertain the possibility that we are wrong? What if our teachings are flawed and Revan did the right thing?" Instead of taking the risk of challenging the council, he did nothing, said nothing, and fled to hide on Nar Shaddaa like a little bitch.
@felixdumbravescu2725

In his somewhat defense, it is difficult to to voice against a majority council that already decided on a plan of action. That and the Jedi doctrines dictate too much the decision making, and i feel what happens near the end is a repeat of history.
