RWD version of this box was used in lots of jags, gets you the correct output for a prop, there also dirt cheap, and just get one from a 3.0d and its same bolt pattern. I use jag/landrover gearboxes as cheap donors to repair BMW's so cheers for letting the cat out the bag troops.
@@328ronald whats your goals? if your looking for an 8hp, there all much and such few inches here or there in the output, pick what you can get local to you for a decent price and build a prop accordingly. All told will be a little snug in a W201 the 722.400 was a proper stubby little thing, your going to struggle to find a modern auto thatll fit in that space.
Virtual clutch means you can disengage the torque converter whenever you want. The way it works is you press the "clutch" pedal and it disengages, It sounds like it would not work but it does, you can use it like regular clutch when drifting, etc.
Great informative video from DPUK as usual, the quality of tech is second to none! I have the 8hp in my e70 x5 mated to an N57, I absolutely love it, as is the combination, its faultless. The adapter to fit a tweaked LT 230 would make the ultimate set up. I plan to fit a low range TC case to my X5, its a Magna Steyr similar to whats fitted in the disco 4 without the low range, need to research it but looks like the rear 8hp case is different in a LR to BMW.
Good alternative but is it only gonna be full wheel drive ? Another thing I can add to that setup is you can use electronic gas pedal for TPS. You need that and a boost reference from the intake manifold(digital again 😃) and that’s the absolute minimum, you can add more sensors from the chassis like wheel speed sensor. The Rpm maybe from the alternator ,there are some aftermarket solutions for that as well.
Virtual Clutch = Clutch Pedal is modified to have spring pressure while electronic sender that tells the TCU to position and varies the clutch pack pressure to allow the foot to vary the amount the clutch pack is pulled.
The hp70 is very plentiful here in the USA as well. Most notably in the ram, dodge, Chrysler, and Jeep products. How well; with this adapter; can it work with one of those Transmissions?
The torque converter on the LR box is also much bigger than the bmw box. I wonder if this has any effect on the box in how it handles for instance a bigger car ie patrol, gwagon etc.
What if I want to buy only the shaft adapter without the Bell housing adapter? Because I don't want to use this Range Rover transmission. I want to use a BMW one, because the are way cheaper and also easier to find in Germany. What's the price for the shaft adapter only? Thanks!
Thank you for sharing your experience with us. Om602 turbo 2.9 lack of power from stop. M/T. First time using diesel vehicle. Any advice or help or guide what I check for where start. Waiting your reply Best regards,
I’d love to see it in a 3rd Gen 4Runner or Surf. This is the ideal engine transmission combo I’d want for my 4Runner. If anyone can put it all together and make it fit, it would be you.
Wikipedia says the LR Liion V6 has a different bolt pattern to the Jaguar version, is that true, is the gearbox casting different? Or will this adapter work with both?
I think the problem here is working with wires in general and not cursing the Turbolamik. I think the brothers here, like me, like to work on mechanical
1min 40 seconds in…could it be that dreams come true? Or is the cameraman holding Luke at gunpoint to make this video?? 🤔 Exciting development to be able to test this combination - say with the Dsl1…
Looks and sounds amazing , anyone suceed it to fit one? also what prop and diff are used after?? im running holset hx40 and 7.7 pump what else need it?
Thank you for doing this video and showing us what other vehicles we can look at for a gearbox. I am trying to fit one to a 4jj1, never done something like this so trying to figure out the adapter plate story without fancy dm drawing software 😬
I accidentally put a Ford turbo controller on an ON642 v6 It’s been as fast as fuck for two years and counting Estimate 260-300hp compared to 190 hp standard
No I dont. EN not my native language as well. But it cannot make sense that 5, 10 oder 100 people use Translate instead of the ONE who posted.@AllSortsOfStuff58
Is it a good idea ? I cannot say. I too prefer mixing my own gears by hand, sadly most manufacturers are steadily eliminating manual anything on vehicles. (Here in the states, even tractor trailers/lorries and such are all being ordered with automatic trans) 🤮
When 3 wires are to much for the guy 😂😂 everything is well documented from turbolamik side got mine running in half a day pmc adapter 320£ and if you paying more than 400£ for bmw 8hp70 thats your own fault or you just lazy do your own math plus you will need something to connect the pro shaft to something on one more thing the bell housing on this gearbox much bigger so will need tunel modifications..
