We use zip wall on almost all of our jobs. We still use the heavy-duty zippers. We don't use the foam bars, just ceiling pads and green tape. Still I agree it helps us keep homeowners happy with cleaner houses.
@A Concord Carpenter / ToolBoxBuzz. Thanks Rob for the long term lookback on the ZipWall system. I'm glad it turned out to be a great dust control system that remodelers can use. It's a investment but like you said, customers really appreciate when a contractor takes keeping their homes clean. Hope you, the crew at TBB, and your families stay safe and well.
I used two of the zippered doors and found that they worked well, however, when you have to go in and out of the door, they are a pain to roll up and hold. Using a spring clamp did the trick but those magnet doors are definitely much better.
I replaces my poles bags with a cross country ski bag. the ski bag is a little longer than needed but slid the extra lenght to the middle and then cinch the around the ends of the bag with straps that came with the ski bag. I got my ski bag used and it is much stronger than the zip wall bags
Informative video. Some of us DIYers only have a project or two so we might not be buying all the extra items. We can tape the ends of the sheets. So the items in question…do they supply the plastic sheeting or you buy it at your home center and what is mill rating suggested? The magnetic door, is it reusable over and over, suggest that this aspect be shown in the video. Is the magnetic door a separate line item?
Nothing against zip wall but I find the ratcheting support bar from harbor freight is better. I typically use a piece of furring across the ceiling with a bar on either end to start with the plastic taped to the furring in spots to hold it up. Seals nice and tight. Also there very useful for holding long crown, trim, cabinets, since I mostly work alone. I got to get that magnetic door though.
