You are a SAINT. This is hands down the best arrangement of this song and the fact that it got taken down was unbelievable. Thank you, a million times, THANK YOU. This arrangement means so much to me.
I've dedicated several years of my life practicing and perfecting this arrangement on my own. Zohar's arrangements will forever stick with me because of how they perfectly capture the original essence of the song while also transforming it into something that completely stands on it's own and is unmistakably Zohar. I hope he is still out there creating music some where and just decided youtube and internet fame was not for him
I was very concerned when this video seemed to have disappeared on the original channel. I'm glad to see it isn't gone forever. This song and this arrangement mean a lot to me. One goal I have in life is to be able to play this arrangement.
I think funny piano zohar, unfortunatelly, is a fake ... The video he has uploaded are not new, already online for years on niconico (japanese website). Zohar hasn't been on YT for years, why should he come back just when most of his videos are deleted ?
Once upon a time, an unkown player sat to his instrument, played the best Corridors of Time piano cover ever done, then disapeared. But his videos still lives on, just as strong a before. Thank you so much for keeping the myth going !!
I actually asked Mitsuda once whether he was Zohar and he did not answer. The book on the table is Junko Okazaki's piano arrangements. It's definitely a Japanese piano player. It might be and it might not be Mitsuda. The question will forever remain. I know for sure Kylelandry, Verdegrand, Theishter, Animenz and others remember this video.
Yes! I also formulated the hipotesis of zohar being mitsuda himself. This would explain everything, the fact that Zohar is japanese and the fact that he was the first to post arrangements of these songs on RU-vid, and not only being the first, but being perfect. It is like he composed the music like this first, and only THEN adapted to the game. Some years Ago, i sent an e-mail to mistuda via his oficial website asking If he was or knew Zohar. No response also. But i think the silence of mitsuda is suspicious. We are pretty sure that at this point, he must know about Zohar, or at least heard of him. He must have been asked about It many many times, and still he never touched the matter publically. Also, there are the facts that the word "Zohar" itself is related to the game xenogears, that mistuda also worked on. This, along with many others facts could be indicatives, but any fan of mitsuda's work that plays piano could display these types of things in his Chanel, so they might be coincidences. BUT i believe there is a great chance that Zohar is mitsuda not only because of these indications. Let's think about effort, motivations and rewards. This music sheet is insanely dificult. Mitsuda had so much effort in doing chrono's sound track that he had to be hospitalized. So It would take a musical Genius x2 to take the very hard work of another muscial Genius (mistuda), and make It even more great and complex. "Alright" you might say "any psycho crazed super fan and super Genius that has an unatural fixation on mitsuda could do It". And you might be right, BUT considera one more thing: there was NO reward involved. These videos were uploaded in an era that RU-vid had no ads, and was flooded with people filming their sons doing shit in a family barbecue and posting in order for other people of the family see the video. Videos were done and posted by ordinary people that had no pretentions at all. This was the time that the word "meme" didn't exist, and techno vicking was a thing. NO ONE ELSE WAS KILLING HIMSELF TO PRODUCE AN INSANELY HARD AND BEAUTIFULL MASTER PIECE AND POSTING ON RU-vid FOR NO REASON AT ALL, AND NOT EVEN SHOWING HIMSELF TO RECEIVE ATE LEAST RECOGNITION, BESIDES ZOHAR, HE WAS THE VERY FIRST TO DO SO!!! No one Else had even posted piano covers of these musics. Zohar was the first and the most perfect! What was the point of having all these work for nothing? Now, If we consider that Zohar is mitsuda, this is explained. Maybe mitsuda wanted to share his hard work ,done years before, with the público without exposing himself, either because he didn't wanted for the sake of discretion or other personal motives, or because of legal aspects. This would make Sense. Also the original sheet is for 2 persons to play, so add in this dificulty. By the way, How Zohar had access to these sheets in the First place? I would pay money to know who the fuck Zohar is, or If he is mitsuda or not. But i believe that they being the same person is a very plausible Idea.
I think it's plausible they're the same person. I actually compared his hands to the images found through google and they can certainly be the same slender hands - just more tanned in these videos. However, that doesn't prove much on it's own :D ...but doesn't exclude the possibility either :)
@@redpillforrealbrasil1405 yeah, who the hell can make something original and make it sound so much better. Take nobou uematsu. I think it's obvious Zohar is mitsuda himself. A regular person would say, no just a fan if a message was sent. This arrangement sound's too clean for even any famous RU-vidrs to even make, like it sounds like a piano collection. Not even a cover.
Oh Zohar's channel on Nicovideo he uploaded a couple of videos relatively recently, they were piano arrangements of Someday My Prince Will Come and When You Wish Upon A Star. These were uploaded in April and May 2020.
Any piano connoisseurs or experts in here ? I'm curious about Zohar. Is he a savant , possibly elite tier unknown player ? Is it just the arrangements ? What makes this rendition so impossibly haunting ? I've listened to some greats.. Lipatti(his Bach Jesu Joy is similarly haunting), Walter Gieseking (Ravel's sonatine)are few that stuck to me.. They seem to share similar qualities.. Elegant, sublime, understated, trance-like. This piece by Zohar is a captivating journey from beginning to end , with some up's and down's like a person's life yet lurking beneath the surface there's always that ethereal eternal sadness of a gentle soul that came to terms with the supreme truth of this universe : our magical existence is but a fleeting moment in the corridors of time.
The Legend says that he performs in high-society concerts during the daytime, and reserves his evenings to makes chrono trigger arrangements incognito.
he just know music theory bro. The answer is more like the VGM piano cover community is mostly composed of folks who like to play the piano for fun, and most of them don't know music theory nor have had formal training. So at least in the old RU-vid days, most people who posted covers did not really know what they were doing. They were just pressing keys and if they liked how XYZ sounded, then they did it that way. That's how figures like kyle landry could rise, cause they had actual training and did know what they were doing contrary to 99% of folks who did it for fun. Later you can see other folks who played in bands started joining, and now there's some people who actually know some music theory or play for a living who post some videogame piano music, so the quality of VGM arrangements has improved as well, although VGM covers and arrangements are is still nowhere near as popular in the piano community. Zohar just happened to be someone who knows music theory well and found an underserved niche. He knows what he does, but probably won't raise eyebrows in the overall music community. So the answer is the videogame piano music is not popular, but if it was, you probably would have plenty of zohar level arrangements.
@@webdiv8406 this is an obviously biased comment, and I imagine you didnt mean to come off as condscending and putting down zohar, but you kinda did. Sounds like youre saying this is unremarkable to anyone outside of the gaming sphere, which is just plain wrong, along with the connotation that "videogame piano music is not popular", and it kinda shows the lack of actual knowledge you have, maybe about that part specificially, because piano arrangements of videogame music are widely one of the most revered and popular ways for people to listen to videogame music. though I could see how there would be a lack of VGM composers specificially within the sphere of high performing artists at zohars level. Overall, though, you really seem to really underestimate the guy as just another composer who knows music theory well and liked chrono trigger, when realistically this guy is revered because not only were these the first covers of these songs on the internet (released in 2007 or so on niconico), and they are by far the best played and composed versions of these songs weve ever heard. Especially shown in his version of Liebesträume No.3, ( ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-UcoG84uTiXQ.html ) this guy is much more than just another pianist that knows music theory, I personally cant say ive heard a pianist thats captivated me as much as zohar has, his secret of the forest is one of the most delicately and beautifully played pieces to reach my headphones.
This is legendary. It's so good that even when taken down, someone reuploaded it - because THIS is the version we want to listen to. There are other versions, sure, but this one is so good that people MISS IT and will bring it back!!
I listened to this every day in middle school, never even played the game. Came back to it now and it's just as beautiful, so glad there is a backup on youtube
My apologies for misplacing thoughts and feelings to this sacred heaven. Compositions are bound to live eternal through these renditions of inner interpretations of notes of reckoning. Zohar's shown so much passion that even a backup, nonetheless important, keeps hope and solace alive. Cheers.
Zohar002, or how to become an urban legend of youtube by putting like a dozen of incredible piano cover. Really glad people like you can put it back on RU-vid. And i hope he's doing well atm!
I didn't even know the original video had been taken down but I pretty much have grown up coming back to this arrangement over and over for many years, thanks so much for reuploading and here's to many more years ahead looking for our lost Zohar
That is a very heartwarming and sad comment at the same time, someone could make a novel/story/movie/art out of this.... Someone could make a religion out of this, no wait okay that's not great
Oh my god, Zohar's channel vanished?! No. No. NOOOOOO. Did anyone ever figure out who this genius was? Thanks for backing up some of his videos, his piano arrangements are life essence to many of us.
hey OP, have you got any other backups of zohars tracks? there were quite a few from what i remember and i'd love to go back through them if you have them on hand to post anytime soon. thanks~
Thank you for reposting this masterpiece, I remember watching this arrangement over a decade ago. Does anyone know what happened to the original channel?
You don't by chance have the Shevat's arrangement by Zohar? That one is by far my favorite of all of Zohar's arrangements... Sure miss listening to that one.
I think he still alive. Someone has found his channel and i think it's the real zohar's channel (First uploaded in 2007 and stop in 2008. Then he reupload new video again in 04/14/2020 and 05/04/2020) www.nicovideo.jp/user/487719/video?ref=pc_userpage_menu
I can't be the one insatiably curious about what happened to this person. And we have no hints except the emotional resonance that his songs create. Personally, I've always felt something profoundly deep through these arrangements and it would seem to me that he (or she) must have had some strong emotions that I couldn't fathom, based solely off of how deep these songs cut. Whatever they're up to, I hope they are doing well. They have brought so much to me with these songs that I'd love to be able to repay them one day.
I'm sure a lot of us feel the same way. I wonder if Zohar knows how many people his music has touched. I just listened to this piece again and even though I've listened to this piece so many times before, it felt new and wondrous to me again.
Zohar's fans are far reaching, someone re-upped that one here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-lKOB09qIqy4.html Thank goodness because it's my all time favorite performance of that piece ever.
Wait, wait, WAIT!!!!! HOW DID HIS CHANNEL LOSE VIDEOS?! I THOUGHT THE GUY FORGOT ABOUT HIS CHANNEL ALL TOGETHER! IS RU-vid SERIOUSLY DELETING OLD VIDEOS WITHOUT TELLING ANYONE?!
I found all the lost videos backed up here: ru-vid.com/show-UCbOdrh-mTJq8S1weoqbZaQA And here are all the videos of Zohar in their origial quality: www.nicovideo.jp/mylist/1928037
Guys Zohar is creating content again on a different channel! Go check it out!! I happened to meet a guy in a RU-vid comments section who says he knows Zohar personally. He said his new channel is Funnypiano Zohar. :)
I know this is two years late but the sound comes from the program "Ivory II" under the American Concert D soundfont, as for the model of the piano I dont know. The virtual Piano sound is like $200. You can get it through "totally legal methods" but you would need to play it through a DAW like Kontakt.
I'm pretty sure I downloaded most of his original video, I would gladly send it to the owner of this page and reupload it here. Any way how to contact him?
I have said sheet music for both Corridor of Times and Secret of the Forest. I got them from back when they were uploaded on his yahoo page, so I think they're the most accurate out there. Any idea how I can share them ? And please don't tell me dropbox....
Issac Boonyakieat Hello, Issac. I've been trying to PM you through my Android phone but I won't seem to find the way to do so. Maybe I'm just a little clumsy. I will try on my computer tomorrow. Thank you very much in advance!
I think he's back to piano arrangement recently in 2020. Someone has found his channel and i think it's the real zohar's channel (First uploaded in 2007 and stop in 2008. Then he uploaded new video again in 04/14/2020 and 04/05/2020) www.nicovideo.jp/user/487719/video?ref=pc_userpage_menu
A comment from here ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-iSYQiAvVM9w.html says: "He recorded his digital piano sound using VSTi from Synthogy Ivory (Steinway Model D concert grand piano sound) with some reverb added while the host application used was Cakewalk SONAR LE."
This is a masterpiece ✨ . I wake from this dream But I can't tell you the things that I've seen I'd leave it behind If I could just change her mind I can't believe the things that you are telling me But something deep inside Makes me feel this really isn't a paradise Familiar to me Did you cross over an eternity We're both so alone A warmth that we'd never known So stay with me Before our world starts crumbling 'Cause somthing deep inside Makes me feel this really isn't a paradise I'm falling asleep All the promises that I meant to keep The sweatest of dreams Was my life just taken from me? If I return, if I could change from what I've learned We'd never have to hide Everything would be alright in this paradise
