I come for the footage and stay for the reviews, but I love when I hear your dog shaking every three minutes in the background 😂 After hundreds of videos, I still laugh every time.
I did not known that this Zoom Fly 3 had the same vapor weave tech of the Next% ! Just that is a very good reason to buy this shoe... for raining days when it is hot ... keeping a Nike Shield to run in cold days ... Not that gets too cold in here in the winter but I love my Odyssey React Shield nonetheless.
Watched your review and purchased the shoes and these things are seriously a next level running shoe. Worth the money and built sturdy and light weight.
Dude, I love the information about the post water exposure. I'm doing a unique triathlon which involves switching from running to swimming 4x. I need a shoe that can withstand the water, be light and dry out quickly. I will be swimming and immediately running without transitioning. This is exactly what I've been looking for. Thanks for sharing your experience!
i can't imagine a shoe that wouldn't feel a bit heavy in that kind of gauntlet, but these do start out a bit on the heavy side. when they are water logged, even if for a relatively brief time, you'll feel it
I wore my ZFFK 5 times since I bought them in March, which included a 2:30 minute PR in late April. After my second run in the ZF3s, I'll never run in the ZFFK again. The Vaporweave is a game changer in more ways than one. As someone who prefers halves over full marathons, THIS, is the shoe for me!
Just bought these and was completely wow’d by walking around with them on to “break them in” the shoe definitely wants you to move quicker and have that runners lean so very excited to test these out for time trials today.
My Zoom Fly 3 came in today and I was totally disappointed in the fit. It's too loose and not true to size. I probably have to go down 1/2 size to get the right fit. My feet were just not secure in it. I like a locked in feel and this shoe did not deliver that. Love your reviews! Keep up the great work!
This is my 4th Zoom Fly pair. . .I also run in the 4%. On a positive note, the Nike customer service has been awesome and they are going to exchange it for a smaller size. I'll test it and then let you know how it goes. Thanks.
I’m hydrophobic (except while going for a deliberate swim) and find your fascination with running through water rather interesting; :) definitely makes for good video footage.
These look so good! Been waiting for your review ever since you posted on IG. Can't wait to try them out. These and the Turbo 2 are both shoes I'm excited to run in
So glad you got these man. Can wait for this to be stuck in your rotation like it’s been in mine. The shit is so bad that all I have been running in everyday for the past month and a half was this shoe in different color ways. Also forget about the vomeros this IS nikes response to having a Maximalist running shoe. This is by far my favorite of the new bunch for the zoom series. Now it’s time for us to be hype for the new Pegasus that comes out next year as well as the turbo series. That’s going to get a MAJOR improvements
kofuzi lol. I’m the exact opposite. I hate this summer shit. Love running in the winter. Summer I try my best to avoid it all together or run how I do at 1am to avoid all the sun and heat. Even then in Nyc the humidity is still out so I hate it regardless
Nice video mate. I’m two runs in with mine (I have the white too), loving the sensation and totally agree with your initial review. My zoom fly flyknit will now be retired.. I’m 3 weeks out from my first marathon and these will be my race day shoe. Cheers.
This is the one I’m running in.. townsvillerunningfestival.com/ I guess a relatively small event to the ones you have run in, Townsville is a beautiful town on the east coast of Australia. Shooting for sub 4hr and looking to be well on track 🤞Your videos have been great to watch and provided some inspiration during my journey over the past few months - thank you. You should consider doing a marathon in Australia one day 😎
Had one...just last week. Had about 35km on it....it simply fantastic...Consistent with what you mentioned on the push and how it wanted to get me go faster (especially on the default speed out of the box).....and planning to use it for my upcoming 42km this weekend over my Saucony K10...I hope it pays off....... good fast tempo shoe...did a 5k in 21 mins with it and it seems to go faster... anyways its my taper week, so not huge mileage over it but the litmus test would be this weekends race in it.
It’s a beautiful shoe and very comfortable as well. Until this video I was very concerned about keeping them clean but it looks like the water just repelled off them.
I have these as well as the vaporfly next% and they are different but the zoomfly 3 are really awesome did a pb the very first run and I wasn't even really trying to look forward to more improvement every time.
I picked up a pair of the Zoom Fly Flyknit over the winter and used them for the spring races. It felt weird experiencing that "rocker" feeling underfoot. Once I got +80 miles on them I could barely feel the carbon fiber plate. Now I'm at 150 miles and the carbon fiber plate seems to be non-existent, like I have flattened it out. I now just use them as daily trainers. I'll be interested in seeing your 100 mile review and see if you are experiencing the same disappearance of the plate. I'm 180 lbs so I'm hitting the plate harder than you so that may make a difference. What I have noticed is the Zoom Fly Flyknit holds a crazy amount of water (sweat). On a hot day it sounds like I am running wearing rubber boots. Someone pointed out last week that they could see every step I took because I was leaving a wet shoe print. I've never had that before with other shoes. I've got some Pegasus 36 this week so I'll be checking to see if they do the same.
that's interesting. my experience over 100 miles in the flyknit version were quite the opposite to yours. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-xmLJHNiC-C4.html i never really considered the flyknit to be a poor material in terms of wetness. i ran the chicago marathon and ran a then PR on a day that started out raining lightly and ended quite humid. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-S8xPKZpOB9Q.html frankly, it came as a bit of a surprise to hear that Kipchoge complained about sweat in flyknit. but i apprecaite the new changes.
Did they seen bottom heavy? Believe In The Run's review said the added weight was a major negative. I'm hesitant to purchase them because of the weight.
Just me but this shoe feels a lot better even though it weighs about 0.5oz more. The upper seems to be so much better, so much that, I feel locked in better (especially the heel) and the shoes feel better later in the run than the flyknit version. Flynit version felt heavy to me later in my runs.
regardless of what the oz are, i felt like the boston 8 were heavier on foot. it's about weight distribution for me. this seemed more balanced. or perhaps the react and carbon fiber plate distract away from the weight
@@jazzy5775 I do respect your opinion.. And that's true that the views of Insta were Outstanding. But it was good to see a change... But let's pray for a new Insta 360x.
@kofuzi i finallly got around to getting a pair of the zoomfly the flyknit version. I bought them for 55 uk pounds absolute bargain i was gona buy the zoomfly 3 but for that price i could pass. I ran 6 mile out of box and after mile 4 5 ish i got the hot spot in the right foot under the ball.. then today i ran 6 x 800m repeats 5.38 pace and they were absolute pleasure to run in no hotspot. But your reviews as always are bang on. :) keep the great videos coming
i'm glad the hot spot disappeared for you so quickly. i wouldn't be surprised if it reemerges periodically. the hot spot is such a weird thing to me. but i'm glad i'm not imagining it
@@kofuzi yes the hotspot is real. Was slightly cooler today aswell but still humid. Zoomfly are way better going fast. 5 min mile pace and 6 min. Casual slow days they wouldnt be great. Zoomfly 3 will definitely be a consideration.
I have a pair of the zoom fly 3 in the same white shoes. They look great. Not sure about the weight for a racing shoes. I also got a hot spot on the ball of my right foot.
Nice review! I snuck in a pair of Zoom Fly flyknit before my season ended for my long runs, so it might be a while before I give the Zoom Fly 3 a go. The white pair looks 🔥though. You mentioned why you wouldn’t race in them. What types of runs will you be using them the most?
Long runs with some tempo miles thrown in (2x mile at half marathon pace then 2x mile at marathon pace over 15 miles or so). Or a longer marathon pace tempo run.
Been watching bunch of your videos especially as I got ready to pick these up, and it's funny that you mention a hotspot with React foam. I've never experienced that kind of discomfort with it but when it comes to Boost I get a discomfort under my forefoot on my left foot, like I'm stepping on something.
It's nice to see more brands in your reviews, just a thought could you review a Brooks? Specifically the Asteria. I know this has been out for a number of years but they still make it and this may help with the upcoming release of their plated racers...
Beautiful looking shoe and very good review. Looks like I will need to upgrade :) I notice on the Canadian Nike website there are different colorways available than the US site.
Hey ! ! Too late to ask, but I am finally investing in a running shoe as I have been running quite regularly now. I to know if I can invest in a Next% should I buy that or Zoom Fly 3 is good enough for someone who runs 3-4k everyday and 3-4 HM in a year. I am not very quick, but with my normal marathon shoes I clock 1.50 for a HM. Also I see Next% are not available anywhere ! they are out of stock since months. ( I am from India) but I checked websites from HK, NZ etc where my friends live and can buy my one and ship it. but everywhere, they are not available. DO you know what is the scene, are they coming back or they are looking for a newer version( I read some places). So should I buy the ZOOM FLY 3 if I want it immediately ? Thanks for answering in advance.
I really appreciate your videos man, I watched both this and the one with the turbo 2's. I'm currently doing my daily training in the pegasus turbo (1) and I'm looking to get a new pair as well. I'm standing between the turbo 2's and the zoom fly 3's. I'm training for a marathon in september and I'd like to race the new shoes I'm getting. What would you recommend and why? Thanks man! Side note: I'm feeling a little heel slip in the turbo 2's, but the zoom fly 3's fit like a glove - when trying them on in the Nike store.
if you like training in the turbo 1, i'd recommend getting the turbo 2 (or another pair of the v1) for the bulk of your training and then the zoom fly 3 for your faster longer workouts and your racing. if you add up the mileage you anticipate you'd be putting in over the next 3 or 4 months, just one shoe won't get you to the starting line.
Do you get the same "push" on the ZF3 similar to the Next% and ZF Flyknit? Just ran on my Zoom Fly (Regular) and noticed that there is a big difference with my Zoom Fly Flyknit in terms of that "push" when running. The ZF Flyknit feels it has a more pronounced rocker that propels you forward. Compared to the Zoom Fly.
I don't feel a push in the vaporfly next like I did in the zoom fly Flyknit. The zoom fly v1 had lunarlon and a carbon infused nylon plate. The zoom fly Flyknit has React foam and a carbon fiber plate. The zoom fly has the strongest push off feel. The zoom fly 3 and the Vaporfly next have more of a bounce, although maybe it's the React but I do still feel somewhat of that push off sensation in the zoom fly 3
yes. i have never been a fan of lunarlon, although the SP was a very good implementation of it. there is also the matter of the carbon fiber plate versus the carbon infused nylon plate.
How many miles did you get out of your last zoom flys, or do you know how many miles that folks tend to get? I only race about 70 miles a year in fast road races so I went with the vapor flys and even if they only last 250 miles they will last for years. I am light ~145 so I may be able to stretch them to ~280 mile or 4 years. For me the extra ~70$ is worth it to go to the vapor flys over a 4 year road racing span. I wear trainers for my track workouts, and trail ultras.
do they have weight requirement to feel the plate? or maybe speed. i just got one and went for a run today and i can feel it. sure its softer than my peg35, but its an old shoe compare to the zoomfly. aside from the softness, i cant feel anything different.
Hi Mike, apart from shoes, what are the shorts you are wearing on this video? Are they new nike challenger shorts? From the video they seem to be incredibly loose with tight liner inside. On nikes website there are a lot of people complaining about this liner. What are your thoughts on these shorts? I tried them in the running store today and looked fine to me, but since I was not using compression tights before I don't know if I would like them. Thanks for any reply. Regards from Berlin
Great looking shoe! I've got a video idea for you. Since there are so many shoes in the Nike stable, it would be great to get your recommendation for 1 Nike shoe for each category: a.) easy runs, b.) up tempo workouts, c.) long runs, d.) 5K/10 racing, and e. half/full marathons. As an added bonus, what 1 Nike shoe would you recommend to someone who is only going to buy 1 pair for all his half marathon training & racing? Thanks in advance! :-)
Howie Chen , I Agree wet shoes are heavy, your feet slip, and they take days to dry completely. He enjoys running in water. Water softens up your feet, and probably causes some of the hot spots from slip friction of his puddle running. Still enjoy his videos, i run trails with water, but like to keep my feet dry as possible.
Went to Nike and put these on. Weirdly for ZF3, I had to go half size lower and still felt it is slightly bigger than my ZF FK size. Did you experience the same?
I wish they had more colorways. I got a pair of 4% a few months ago during a rare price drop and sale promo. I don't anticipate the Next % going on sale any time soon, so until then I'll opt for the Volt Yellow/Green colorway for the ZF3s when I'm up for my next running shoe purchase as the "poor man's" Next%.
Shoe looks amazing. I am really bummed, I am have wore Nike my whole life, but now that I run they are too narrow and don’t work for my instep. How are these?
How was your decision to the sizing of this shoe? I nomally take a US 9 of nike shoes. Also, I would like to get your sizing guide between Zoomfly and Pegasus series.
Hey Kofu, what temperature is it when you run normally? Like it when you tell us how breathable a material is because I'm from a more tropical place in the world. Thanks!
Great review and great shoes, I was looking forward to it, but tried it on a store a couple of days ago and it still feels like you are on heels given the thin midsole at the back. I saw a guy running on the previous version and rolling his ankle a lot, which scared me even more. Anyone with some thoughts on this risk? Im not sure if Im that much of a midsole striker as it demands, though trying to improve to get there... my main concern is towards the end of a race (half on my case), when your form starts to get sloppy... comments appreciated.
Hello, I wanted to ask if this sneaker is suitable for half marathon and marathon at a speed of 3-4 minutes per km? I wanted to run a marathon in 2 hours and 10 minutes.
To the extent you believe that the zoom fly Flyknit is not meant for a full marathon, this one would not be meant for a full marathon. But many people run in these for a marathon
Nice video. Im tempted by these, but I like the look of the zoom gravity. The price point is significantly lower, but this puts me off. Will you be reviewing them at any point?
kofuzi im not sure. Based on the price point and the website description of “foam” I would guess lunarlon. But I really like lunarlon. Its old, but worked great in the zoom fly which was a fairly recent model.
I really like your reviews man. Good work. However, there are so many brands and types of shoes that it's getting very confusing to actually buy one. Could you give me a top-3 selection for a "treadmill" shoe? Any brand, 180$ max. My feet are wide (always buying a half size up) and based on the wet test, I am neutral to slight overpronator. I still run on my Nike Winfloo 2, but they are almost dead. I was quite pleased with them, but they felt slow after some miles. And sometimes, when I was already tired from work, I would struggle to lift my foot up off the ground to fasten my pace, if you know what I mean. I also own a GoT WW Ultraboost, that I bought spontaneously lol. I love them, they are looking amazing, but running in them is weird. My feet are all over the treadmill. I feel I can't land properly on the same spot and start my pace again. It's very annoying and dangerous since I like doing some HIIT twice a week. I also noticed that I feel extremely uncomfortable wearing any stability shoes. I'm leaning on Pegasus 35-36, Legend React, Odyssey React, NB Beacon or Fresh Foam, Adizero Boston 7 or Adios 4 and Solarboost. Don't like Asics and Reebok for running. Hope this info helped you a bit. Thanx. Looking forward to hearing any recommendation you have.
Thanks for the review! Looking forward to getting mine next week, in Green! LOL Couldn't go for the white 😂🤣 Also, at minute 11:21 I noticed a white streak on the outside of the outsole within the black rubber. Is that wear from just one run? 😱
nope. i don't have the zoom fly flyknit anymore. i have a video with my first impressions, 100 mile review, and i made a race recap video for the chicago half marathon where i raced in the zoom fly flyknit. those might be helpful.
Is the zoom fly 3 you have wears the same size as your nike pegasus turbo and ur pegasus 36? Was wondering if with a thinner material do i need to downsize 1/2 size.
Have to buy it online here in Canada... undecided on the fit. Do you go up half-size like the Zoom fly sp OR go true to size like the zoom fly flyknit? Thanks in advance!
mine come in Thursday i believe, cant wait!! dont tell my wife. by that point im sure youll be at your 100mi review lol. i ran my last marathon in Zoom Fly, i didnt have my 4% yet, and loved them. in the Epic react to me the laces were almost useless in my opinion, shoe was always fitting for me no matter what. how is this fit/booty? similar to the epic react? or are the laces useful in this case?
Kofuzi may have a different experience than I do, but the heel is a bit looser in this one than the ZF Flyknit and I needed the laces to get a good lockdown.
it's one of those things where i think, it's 2019. are we really still using rope to tie things to our feet? for example, when i ran the mile time trial in the Carbon X, my shoe became untied within the first 400M. i raced the rest of the way without issue. in this shoe, the fit is excellent. the laces seem like a nice comfort to have, but they don't seem essential.
kofuzi I hear ya. I tie my shoes once, then slide them on every time. I try to never have to re-tie them. Ive found that, that way they are right enough to stay on, but loose enough to have a little wiggle room. Unless I’m running sprints or speed, I don’t touch them. So just curious on the booty part, can’t wait to try them
My closet is mostly NIke, and I went over most of it today ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-qkDMa2Igu5Q.html But I'm a bit heavy on shoes at the moment. I usually don't like to have more than 8 or so at a time.
Would you recommend this shoe for longer distances like 15 miles up to a marathon or is there another shoe you like that isn't the next %? Looking for a shoe for the Las Vegas marathon in the fall.
Rock and Roll The beacon 2s have been on my radar. Loved the original just never had a chance to take them out past a half. Looking to pick those up and possibly the Rebel or Rincon
kofuzi I’ve felt it twice now. This past Sunday it was at around 11km, it felt like I could feel the gravel beneath my toes (running a 5:20km pace). It’s seems picking the speed up, the feeling went away. All completely unscientific mind!
