Hello there fellow adventurers! Welcome to my channel devoted to all things adventure gaming! Feel free to get in touch with any feedback, suggestions or anything adventure gamey! Happy adventuring! P.S. Did I mention adventure?!
This was an amazing throwback! Just finished the game (again). Was looking for some related content, and stumbled upon this video. This. Is. Incredible. Thanks for putting this together, great job! 🥂
Amazing video. Some years ago I visited Munich as well and looked up most of the locations. NeuSchwanstein is amazing. I’ve also visited the chapel in Altötting where Ludwigs heart is stored in that urn. Amazing place.
And with ths AGG started the century long war between Adventure- and Flightsim Gamers. :D Great video . And we need a Wallpaper of this 27:23 🤣 So happy to have you back man
"Talisman" as a title is quite generic, so there were many games by that name in history. The one you mention (card RPG called Talisman: Digital Edition) is much newer, however it has a physical release too (although only in form of DVD case) from 2014. And in 2023, enhanced version of the very same game was physically released as Talisman: Digital Edition 40th Anniversary Collection. Another memorable game is Talisman: Challenging the Sands of Time from 1987 by Polarware, which had a big box release. It's easy to get lost in all those Talismans ;)
I have never played TALISMAN before, but it looks retrospectively pawsome 🐾 😺👍🕹️. And looking at that cover art from a big box, it gives meow the retrospective vibes of the Commodore 64 and Amiga games 😺👍🕹️. Also, i recommend a furry Point 'n click adventure game, INHERIT THE EARTH: THE QUEST FOR ORB, on the PC. It came out in the mid 1990's 😺👍🕹️.
I appreciate the Herculean effort you took on to make this playable with the transcribing of audio and exporting subtitle files and all that, but I honestly don't know why you didn't stick with Google translate. How hard is it to leave the height of the Ghoulash and go on a search? Getting past the big cupboard is child's play, pfft. Gotta say, if you can't even get past the big cupboard... I just don't know, man... 😆😆😆 Seriously though, amazing video man! That's the kind of effort that was mind-blowing about Ross' Game Dungeon video on the Cave World and you've pretty much matched it in my eyes. Thanks for jumping through those hoops to bring the English-speaking world a look at this fascinating obscurity!
I feel like whenever we try to play a game that wasn't translated into English, we find out there was a very very very good reason that it wasn't translated into English. :)
@@AdventureGameGeek The backgrounds are pretty nice but I was disappointed by the low poly 3D models...would have been better off in 2.5D or something...
"I resorted to playing each part of the game having no idea what I was doing then transcribe and translate all the audio and export subtitle files to be synced up with the video." Holy hell, that's dedication.
@@AdventureGameGeek Only version I ever played was the 4 disc box edition from 2000, but unfortunately haven't had the ability to play it (and other old games) since my old PC with Win XP died not too long ago.
This is awesome. thank you. I am 60 and I love this game. Played it when it came out. the only thing I critiqued was the last act. it was very short and the ending seemed rushed, but I believe it was because they were running out of money and time for the game. I am currently playing the 20th anniversary remake of the 1 rst game. so hope they can make a part 4 soon.
You forgot to mention that James Earl Jones was also best known as the voice of Mufasa in The Lion King, even though everybody already knows that one. An obscure vocal role he did prior to Lion King was the Emperor of the Night in the 1987 Filmation production, Pinocchio and the Emperor of the Night, which was the unofficial sequel to the 1940 Disney movie.
I have to ask- the "Behind the Scenes" mode, is that a goof for the video and not a real thing? Because I'd love to replay the game with developer commentary (but as far as my searching around goes I can't find heads nor tails of it existing).
Yup it's a real thing! The icons are in the top left hand corner and you can toggle them by pressing B. Highly recommend it as it's full of great insights into the evolution of the game!
@@AdventureGameGeek Ah, turns out it's only available in the Special Edition, which was part of the Kickstarter package. So, cannot get access to it post-KS. Shame, I adore video game commentaries.
There is indeed a lot wrong with the game as you pointed out, still it was a very memorable for me due to the atmosphere, which they sort of nailed. Making an HP Lovecraft game is far from easy and the clunky mechanics, cluelessness, disorientation and awkwardness of the characters made it somehow work. Then I tried it again years later and put in back in the bottomless pit where it belongs. :)
IMO the best of Southpeak's FMV games, story is indeed great, great sense of mystery from the start, the atmosphere is great, the characters are believable and intriguing and unlike Temujin, you have a sense of identity, pushing you forward to unravel the plot. DSOTM also had a demo disc, I never played it, but the one from 20,000 Leagues I did, you can actually play the first chapter! Stu covered it partially, but if you like, we can dive into that together more thoroughly, I already have quite a bit of footage of gameplay. :)
I actually enjoyed this quite a lot back in the day (as well as SP's Dark Side of the Moon, my favourite) and the Demo (disc) for the game (called the Capricorn Collection) provides a cool introduction to the game (which should have been included in the full game perhaps).
