Board Game Coffee is an entertaining and high-quality video series about Board Games. We love bringing people together, one board game at a time. We share Board Game Reviews, Board Game Previews, Board Game How To Play Videos and Board Game Unboxings.
Excellent, this is the only video I've been able to find where there's a closer look at the plastic replacement tokens for the blood bags and contagion tokens. Thanks
Amazing videos! As always! Just a question: when you say at 25:45 “if an ability reads anywhere or on the grid you can target a figure anywhere on the board”… does it mean also at max 8 range? (Since this is the default range…) Thanks!!!
Thank you :) I do not have a video for Arena, but I did play arena. That’s how I got introduced this world. And this is that with a few rule changes and some additions.
Min 52:15 It says move towards the nearest planet, I assume you can take it if it is x squares away, normally board games refer to the next square as adjacent.
I agree. Although the fault lies in our ridiculously overpriced postal Service. As a person who has ran his own Kickstarter, I can tell you that it is cheaper to ship to the states than it is most places in Canada. And I’m Canadian.
Hi and thank you so much for the video! I still have two questions: 1.) If you’re connected to let’s say the sprites, may you, after your character action, use both colors of cubes for the additional help actions, or only of one color? 2.) I‘ve now been playing solo (farmer) since yesterday, I‘m in my second year in summer (level 2), and I ran out of event cards 😳 I checked all my discarded ones and again the text (whether I forgot to shuffle in some new card numbers), but I don‘t see what wenr wrong. Or shall I just ignore that kind of weather effect and wait till by other ways new cards will come into the game?
This is most excellent!!!!! Thank you for this ! The time u spent not only learning Tanares but making this very thorough tutorial is quite frankly amazing!!!! With my work schedule and limited time , Im only able to read the rulebook once in a while, and it might of taken me months to actually learn and play this game! Thank you so much!
Your pacing and enunciatoion were spotless. Very well done training. Looks like the Kickstarter has levels where the only difference is "one more playmat." However, even the two player version shares a single playmat. I have no idea why anyone would want three of the playmats. Any insights?
@@BoardGameCoffee I might get my son to play with me so I went for the 3. They're quitre reasonably priced, especially the difference between 2 and 3 mats! Thanks again for convincing me to pledge.
Also at 1:29:00 you were saying that you never get two dagger symbol. you are allowed to stack 2 single dagger symbols on the card to create a 2 dagger
You know you can attack the next boss attack card in the row so when it moves down it will still have the wounds on it thus making it easier to take out.
One question, I already have the base game and was wondering if I could buy Shrieking Hollow without any extra pieces. Does Shrieking Hollow have all of the pieces the base game already does, or is it only the new pieces? Also, great video.
Eventually, yes. It’s a common question and I get it. But unfortunately, I have no idea when that’ll be. Originally there was no rule set for the city phase. At least nothing concrete to base a video on. I also got the game when everyone else got the game so I didn’t have access to an early copy. And when my copy did arrive I already had a bunch of other projects lined up that I need to get done prior to this one.
Thank you for your reply! I understand the delay. I hope you can still get to it, after the priorities are done, because your how to plays are topnotch.
@@BoardGameCoffeewatching it now and i believe they’re referring to around 1:12:00 where she starts getting a bunch of shields when in reality you can only have a 2 or a 4 at any given time except if you have more shield spaces. Having 4,2,2 like at 1:12:00 is impossible but I think she could have had 4 and 2 with the 2 being placed on the armor card itself since it has a shield slot. Idk if you correct this because I haven’t continued further but that’s what I think they mean by too many shields. Or just the fact you’re using armor abilities a lot and that you’re playing too safe so it’s not fun but that’s just them not liking your playstyle rather than a rules flaw. Edit: no you’re definitely not playing right regarding shields. You can only have 1 shield at any given time unless you have more than 1 shield space. You can have multiple ones, if you have a 2 and gain a 4 it replaces the 2 with the 4. You don’t keep the 2.
If I waited to paint every mini I own, I would never play anything ever lol. Not to mention I’m not a painter. If I painted them, they would look so much worse than they do now.
Thank you for giving us a full playthrough of the prototype! It is much appreciated. Note: You can't stack shields. You must only have 1 on your player dashboard at one time (either a single 2 or a single 4). Otherwise, great work! 😁
Sadly, no. One day I’ll get to it. The problem was I didn’t get my copy of the game until everybody else got the thier copy of the game. And when I originally did the first how to play there was no city phase. So since I didn’t know, when I was gonna get the game. It was hard to schedule a time to work on it.
I highly recommend you drop the affectations and odd speaking manner. You come across as disingenuous and staged. Dozens of hand gestures per second also feel very forced. Just speak in your normal voice and act normally. Just a suggestion.
Ah, thank you for the video and vibe. It already looks solid even if I would love to see more depth to some of the mechanics to make it fun in a long run, but this is early prototype. Their last "light" game Tamashii had 100 things on top of the base mechanics at the end, so I hope they will go that way here too.
I like when games have a base set of rules that’s easy to follow, and then the complexity comes from the variety of hero abilities, and enemy reactions. I see a lot of potential for that here.
I appreciate the way Mark and Britney feature the board of this game. The Gamefound page doesn't seem to do that as much as I'd like. Good job on this video.
Thank you. I found this to be a tough one to showcase on camera, because there’s so much going on in three different sectors. And if you show them all on one camera, it’s pulled too far back to see anything. Long story short, I’m glad you liked it.
@59:48 - We failed to explain how Britney killed the shielded minion. As we understand it, her first attack would have removed the shield. Then, the damage dealt by thorns would have killed the minion. The problem is, Brittany forgot to pay for her thorns. @2:43 - Mark (That’s me) removed a bullet from my player board and one from my Hollow Points card and claimed that they dealt an additional two damage, bringing my total to 3. Unfortunately, the bullet I removed from my hollow points card was not a +1 damage bullet. But in my defence, I forgot to add a bullet anyway, and when you use one bullet, you have to use all of them. So, if I placed the bullets when I was supposed to, I would have dealt 3 damage anyway.
Got my ultimate copy last week. The 2 videos are very explanatory - well done. I'm looking forward to getting this game to the table because I know my gaming group will enjoy it.
ATO looks awesome but that rule book is one of the most daunting things I’ve ever seen lol. I have it, and one day someone will teach me to play it :) Primal, I think I have coming… I’m pretty sure I backed it. What I like about this, is that the rule set is simple, especially compared to a game like ATO. And for me, that goes a long way to promoting playability.
These are monster games. I wouldn't even dare call them just boss battlers. Way too much but they certainly have their audiences. Vagrantsong, Cthulhu DMD, Townsfolk Tussle. These are more my speed. Grimcoven seems to be close to what I'm looking for but I'm not convinced by the amount of content yet. Let's see!
@@oeildanslabouche3628 no that’s not accurate. The base game is quite reasonable for hundreds of hours of entertainment. Yes, you can get expansions but they are totally optional.
