Thanks for the video! First off I would like to commend you on your choice of life style, actuall im a bit jealous:) as i am just stating my sailing adventures. May I ask why you changed from a Catalina to the Hunter? What were the pro’s and con’s of the Catalina vs the Hunter? I ask as I am looking at both trying to decide length and model right now.
At first I thought you were just some silly chick saying a boat, but frankly I think you did a better job of narrating your sailing then 90% of the other vloggers out there so good job. I stand corrected.

Hi, I just found you. I have been sailing for the last three years. I am up and down the West coast. I am now doing Catalina. You do an Amazing job on your videos. I know all the places you are going too and learning a lot from you. Thank You. I just added stabilizers to my sail boat. It is so much fun to be doing this. I feel that you and I are going through the same learning process as we go. Yes we are blessed and I am thinking on sharing my experiences with others . Hopefully I can get people to come out and join me and see and feel if this is a life or hobby for them. What you are doing with your adorable dogs, I am doing it with my cat Sophie. I would like for her to swim with me. I don't think that will ever happen. You make the waters around Catalina feel warm. Last week i was in Avalon and isthmus. The water is freezing. I used to have several offices in Cali (Marine Industry) and traveled there frequently. I understand It’s hard to beat SoCal weather and beaches but the docks fees ouch! My dock fee in Clear Lake, Tx is $350.00 for 35’ with access to the resort gym, pool and laundry. While we don’t have Catalina Island we do have Galveston and Padre in the vicinity.
Christa, I am new to sailing and just bought a 27 ft Hunter 1981. Not a bad boat but not as nice as yours. I also am in DP Harbor. I noticed that you have a backup electric motor, an EPROPULSION 1.0. How does that work out for you? enough power to motor into the harbor with the usual late afternoon prevailing westerlies? Also, how long can you run the motor at whatever speed works for you? I am considering adding one to my sailboat for emergency use. 5 miles max before my LIFEPO4 100 amp/hour battery dies? Any thoughts would be appreciated. Al

If you are fighting it you need to reduce sail. If she is trying to "round up" or point in to to the wind reef the main or in you case right now put out some head sail.
Darlin that 2GM motor does not need any electricity to run. To start it yes but just running it is a "old school" diesel so no spark required and the fuel lift pump and injection pumps are mechanical. There is also (I am pretty sure) a way to hand crank the motor to start it.
That portable stove you have is a great little stove fair warning now I just burnt my leg last week because I had a small saucepan filled with oil and garlic and when I placed it on and turned because it's so small the burner wasn't wide enough to keep it from tilting and falling off so make sure you use large pans on that particular unit or be very careful using smaller pans on that unit because it will fall through the space😮😮😮
You're perfectly good there with two to one on your anchor but when you anchor up at Catalina or any of the islands hopefully you have a 100 ft of chain and put it all out if you anchor deeper than 40 ft make sure you put some rope out to this is advice from a guy that has worked most of his life as a commercial fisherman anchored out at the Channel Islands don't be shy and letting all your chain out hopefully you got at least 100 ft of chain and at least a 35 lb anchor I prefer the Bruce. One last piece of advice don't anchor in the rocks no matter what type of anchor you have. Good job on your video and all the things you were doing at once.🎉
