In 2 years doing jiujitsu, I always heard the instructors telling to get the underhooks however they never explained why. Finally someone explained it to me! Thanks.
Have you seen Pat Militich's is stepping back into the cage to face Mike Jackson at 57 years old! This fight is personal, and it's going to epic! I just ran into the video here ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-VvNitR70v_E.html
Great question! I find that this method shuts down their ability to get a good angle on the scissor/kani basami takedown. Because there is a good deal of leverage on the leg, you should fall into half-guard or side control every time. The opponent is supporting your weight as opposed to the other way around so when they jump, they immediately drop to the floor without getting your leg. Play with it and lmk.
Kenny I can’t thank you enough for this video. I’ve been training 2.5 years before Covid, then took 1.5 years off while everything g was shut down, and now I’m back at a new school for 1.5 years. I’m still a lousy white belt. I hear everybody talking about underhooks, my coaches, my fellow classmates, etc but I’ve never really understood the explanations given to me about it., thus, I didn’t go for the underhook much. This video REALLY helped me understand the mechanics and I think I’ll be using the underhook more because of this. Thank you SO much for this.
Best explanation ever! I’ve rolled with many black belts, many of them I outweighed, and have always wondered how every single one of them always manage to make me feel like they weigh 500lbs. Brilliant! Thank you Professor! If only I can crack this code and apply it on the mat. Hence why they’re black belts and I am not. Btw, I’ve been a big fan since I watched you on the original TUF.
Subbed.Got any tips for mount escape when they grab the head. I am good with escapes, but as soon as someone grabs my head, it's a stalemate. Got a hernia so cant use much power.
One of the things that I’ve been working on is trying to get off the center line. How does this idea come into play with trying to stay connected to their base?
I didn't know the swimming thing. Never learned it. Does it actually work or am I going to look weird doing it lol? And what are some other false signals you can give aside from that swimming technique.
