Love how it starts mid sentence and ends mid sentence like the book. Also love the beginning with “Peter” that always makes me laugh. Peter the Freshman. 😂

Advice. You should keep your Far Left political opinions to yourself and your videos would be finishable. Alienating over half the population with Marxist mind-slave propaganda will always greatly reduce your reach.

The fact they CONTAINED a zombie infection and IMMEDIATELY did not sterilize the city is HIGHLY IMPEROBABLE. These are fast uber zombies in a highly populated urban/suburban setting with SEVERAL methods of transportation with rapid onset infection.

I still can't get over how they brought up the idea that zombies reanimate when it rains, and there are piles and piles of hibernating zombies...and then they did absolutely nothing with it despite clearly and affirmatively establishing that

Such a sorely underrated channel! Yet another film I missed in my religious, sheltered youth that I will be seeking out to further empathize with the horrors of young adulthood as I edge nearer to middle adulthood.

A perfect work of horror. Relentless, intelligent, unflinching, terrifying and leaves you asking questions. One of my favourites and I definitely would put "Funny Games" in the same universe.

"Crash" and "Dead Ringers" are my favourite Cronenberg films. I read the book first and thought the film uncanilly played back what was in my imagination. The book's steely poetry was translated successfully into Cronenberg's glacial photography. I just wonder if Coppola was triggered due to jealousy, that he had never created something so original and audacious.

I could probably just shrug off the movie as just another annoying case of poor rep and stereotypes if not for things like promoting restraining methods (traumatized me as a kid, nd as you pointed out, has done far worse to others) and Sia's condescending dismissiveness of anyone disagreeing with her on the movie Also, am really glad you brought up the Temple Grandin movie. The real person might have some stuff going on, but it was my first time being able to really connect and relate with someone/a character on a level beyond just "oh they do a cool thing"

Excellent video on one of my favorite films and the only other Bret Easton adaptation to stand along side American Psycho, not only as capturing his writing, but being better than the book. Also missed opportunity with the acknowledgement of Casper Van Dien actually playing Patrick Bateman (AWFULLY) in the deleted scenes of this film (you can find it on youtube tho) awesome material, once again.

I actually did have a section on the (rightfully deleted) Casper Van Dien scene, but it didn't fit within the context or theme of the video so I cut it - but it is a fascinating curio

This is one of those movies that desperately wanted to be shocking, and not in a subversive way like Requiem For a Dream. And given that it depicts men so terribly, it's a wonder why more men don't demand more positive depictions of young men in movies especially as it relates to sex and relationships. I hate how misandry was so acceptable then and now, and that no one points it out.

A lot of homeless people are inconvenient obstacles because they constantly deny help and most choose to be in that situation.. they are finally making it a law in a lot of states where if you deny help multiple times it's a crime..

This is the best example of coincidence. I picked up Rules of Attraction the book at my local library, read it in two days (finished it yesterday) and this video pops up. It's like you read my mind 😄. Also the book was so much better. It takes place in 1985 and I wish the movie did too

My first girlfriend broke up with me for James Van Der Beek's cousin, Dave Van Der Beek. So, I've always had an aversion to him. Plus, I'm from Cape Cod, where Dawson's Creek is set, and that shows portrayal of the Cape always annoyed me. But that's probably more of a Kevin Williamson problem.

One of my favourite books. And I was amazed at the time to find an adaptation that whilst not like for like had definitely embraced the themes and ‘feel’ of the book and used some fresh film methods and narrative styles to elevate it. Whilst probably a cult film now , it definitely feels a little under appreciated and probably marred by Avary’s career ending. Apparently for victors European trip they filmed enough for a full length that they were going to use ahead of adapting Glamorama.
@inframeout
@inframeout 4 дня назад
They did indeed have a feature length film's worth of the European footage - but due to their failure to secure waivers from all the folks they filmed and the extremely questionable legality of much of what was captured on film, the odds are it'll never be released

Thank you for covering this. I had a copy of it and also Slackers (might have been vhs yikes) and loved them both dearly. Although haven't seen either in 20 years. Did Slackers age poorly ? That is disappointing
@inframeout
@inframeout 4 дня назад
"Slackers" is - weirdly - yet another film with the 'filming a naked woman without her consent and showing it to people for laughs' trope, as well as the entire premise being 'a bunch of guys trying to coerce and trick a girl into having sex with them. It's got its moments, and the performances are committed as hell, but it has aged like milk
