I loved the 2023 videos and binged all three twice. I'm going back in 2025 because of them and doing a west coast trip. NL owes you big time for promoting them.
That’s a great web site you have there. Very informative and easy to use. I am planning a trip for late September early October . Base out of stephenville head to deer lake for a few days then back to stephenville and onto port au basque. I only get back home once or twice a year but enjoy every minute on the trails .
By far the best atv content out there ( my opinion) and the most informational and useful guide you can use, thanks for all the hard work you put into these videos and your website just to make it easier for everyone else
@Joseph-s3k it will probably start with the front diff leaking. If you notice the leaking early and change the seals in time, you will probably save the diff. When it's totally shot, it won't work in 4x4 mode. If you are stopped and stuck in mud and try to get out in 4x4 mode and hear grinding, then stop trying to get out. Get pulled out or use a winch. If you keep grinding the diff, you can damage it.
I just bought one this week. Traded in the RZR just for a change with heat and AC and fully sealed cab. I'll send you some honest feedback in a couple weeks!!! Great video.
Congratulations on your purchase. I hope it's a great machine for you. I look forward to hearing back from you with feedback on the Ridge. Save travels!
i have a 2013 500ho 9600 miles and counting just changed rear shocks!! All wheel brgs throughout the years have been replaced!! never had a problem im on 4th battery and 3rd set of tires!! Love it will definately buy another polaris!! Im sold amazing durabilitly changed belt at 7500miles as preventive maintenance and a belt wasnt even required!!! i thought for sure it would be time for a new belt!! Cant recommend polaris sportsmans enough!!
Dude that's awesome that you've had such good luck with that machine. I think those old 500 HO ATVs were pretty much bulletproof. I still miss mine to this day and wish I never sold it. Not all Polaris ATVs are equal. The old 800 model based on the platform of the 500 was known for having a ton of problems. I had a 2015 850 and I sold it in a year because I had so many issues with it. Keep your 500 running as long as you can.
I'm from Deer Lake. Goose arm, Lomond and the main dam area were my stomping grounds. Nice to see them again featured in your video. My father had a bus camper in Bottomless Pond, its since been flooded over... Cheers!! Loving the series!
Awesome video. One thing I’ve learned is have a way to patch your tires when traveling on the old railway bed. Some places have rail spikes laying around. If you make a trip to central, the snowmobile and atv club are trimming trees and grading the old railway bed. From glennwood to Gander is a good ride.
Thank you for putting together this amazing series. I always tell my riding buddies that the camraderie is equally as enoyable as the actual driving. Kudos to you and to the boys. how much did the dealership end up charging you for the fuel pump replacement and did they do any other work on the machine?
Thanks, Jil, for the nice comments. You are right about the camaraderie. It truly makes a big difference. I think the total was about 900 for the part and labor, if memory serves correct. The can-am fuel pump was the majority of the cost. No other work was required.
@@EastCoastATV $900 is very steep to be honest but you had no option so it's understandable . FYI, the Quantum brand fuel pump is much cheaper and it comes with a lifetime warranty and everyone on the forums swears by it.
Yeah, it's definitely steep. Thanks for the tip. Hopefully that can help others if they come across your post. Hopefully the new one lasts the life of the vehicle.
@@EastCoastATV I know I ask you this almost every year 😅 but what are your current plans with the machine? Keep it since it's still running well and since interest rates are crazy high now?
Yup, totally keeping it. The prices of new machines are out of control not to mention high interest rates. Other than NL, I don't really use it all that much so I'm gonna just keep it as long as it's running well.

I got a 2012 xt I’ve had for over 7 years and I’ve have about every problem you’ve had but same opinion things just great the gearbox grind in high had my dying laughing I feel that 😂
Seems like they all go through similar issues. I'm glad to hear you still like yours, too. My fuel pump crapped out last summer. Keep an eye on your engine. If it starts to feel like its losing power or not getting fuel sometimes I'd bet yours is on it's way out too. Thanks for watching and leaving a message.
Finished watching this Series and I can agree, if you have to watch views of Newfoundland better to do it on a Big TV. Random question if it's alright: Is there trails for ATVs/SidebySides to go around Gros Morne to get up to St. Anthony?
There are trails that will go as far as Hawke's Bay. I'm unsure about St. Anthony. The trails to Hawke's Bay are on my website if you want to check them out. www.crossingnewfoundlandbyatv.com
No, sorry. Vehicles registered for the road like Jeeps are not allowed on the T'railway. You could drive to a few spots legally with a Jeep, like the sinkhole, TableTop and some of the roads around around Old Man's Pond, and Goose Arm.
Was this trip late July? I feel like I may have passed you guys on the trail on my street and trail bike while doing the cross province trip. I recall seeing a similar 6x6 in a group!
@@EastCoastATV Hey Patrick…I thought you were on a slightly different beach…Murrays Beach is a popular swimming and picnic area is St. Andrews. I will get you the right name. Sorry for the confusion.
i love these videos as i was born in port aux basque and raised in codroy valley but sadly have not even visited any family since 94 so keep up the great videos
We were there for the first time in August. You were a few days ahead of us, but we kept track of your group during our trip by checking out your updates on FB. Totally enjoyed our trip and we will be making plans very shortly to explore the West Coast in 2025! Was totally the trip of a lifetime for us! Glad we got to see NL from East to West, but now we plan to have a great time exploring the things we didn't get the chance to see. on the western side. Thanks again for all of your helpful hints and the info you provided for first-timers! :)
I'm from the West Coast and i still use your maps for all our adventures. We would be lost without them. So thanks for that lol. and great series as always. Do you sell your EastCoastATV stickers?
I'm glad to know you find those maps useful. Thanks for letting me know. I'll sell you one for sure. Send me a private message on my Facebook page with your address so I can send you one.
Great video Patrick (I tell a great story with great photography and editing). As for the ride - We both have the same machine with similar mileage - and my experience with some mechanical challenges (and I see yours too) suggests that we're both going to have to invest in a newer one soon... You go first!
My group stayed at the same Air B&B in Deer lake in 2022 after one member swamped his quad at the flooded T intersection. It was a great place to stay and do laundry!
I was recently back home to stephenville. I bought a used pioneer 700 and put 500 km on it in a week. Went out to serpentine , corner brook and a night in gallants at a friends cabin. Enjoyed every minute . I could see in your video a small glimpse of the house I grew up in behind the dream catcher . It was called whites hotel back then. Great memories growing up in that neighborhood. I always enjoy watching your travel adventures . 👍.
Looks like another Amazing trip again this year thanks again for bringing us along with you one more time. Can’t wait until I get the opportunity to do it myself one day
I love your videos, and my wife and I are planning a trip for next year. Is it necessary to have hotel reservations planned in advance, or are there plenty of rooms available on a walk-in basis?
Awesome just watched all 3. If you were to go up river a short ways from your hidden lunch spot my family has a camp up there . We are always there the first week of July Thank you for the video
Absolutely fabulous videos. I'm excited to do another trip to Nfld. We did the east to west back in 2021, with all your website information and we had a great time. We would do the the West coast only next trip. Thanks for sharing your adventures!
Just an amazing series. Just finished watching all 3 videos for the second time. I feel like your cinematography and editing get better every year. I know it’s a lot of work but thanks for posting your adventure again ❤😊
