I have both and the 30-30 is my favorite. I have a Winchester Model 1894 Trapper and an H&R Model 158 . I have taken dozens of whitetail during my 59 years with that H&R . I have a Tasco 3x9 scope on it that I mounted in 1984. I sighted it in to hit 2 inches high at 100 yards. That was 40 years ago, I have never adjusted that scope and it still hits 2 inches high at 100 yards.
My Model 64 & 94 are Made in America, no doubt it is completely made in the USA every piece of it. My friend would say if you asked him if he knew if the rifle was made in the USA, he would shout out "All of it! All of it!! The man says that if it's made in America it will be made right and lasts for a lifetime dependent on what you buy and spend. My Winchesters is are very well made and I would, I could, count on them everywhere.
My grandpa was a super gun collector, reloader, and gunsmith. I asked him when i was 8yo what his favorite caliber was, he said 3006 because it can do anything and he went on to tell me why on the long trip we had ahead. Awesome information.
Headspace on a belted Magnum is relative. It took me ruining a bunch of cases to figure out that you need to headspace off of the shoulder instead of the belt for case life and accuracy.
I bought pne of the last one s made by Winchester ordered it the last year they were in the Winchester catalog it didn't much like factory ammo found Remington barly acceptable fed premium not bad Winchester not even close but handloads then things start working 180 partions or Sierra game kings gave great groups well under 1inch 3150 fps. Large😢 rifle primer imr 4831 maximum load from earl y 60s loading manual (before the lawyers ruined things)
I bought a brand new Remington model 700 Classic in .300 H&H in 1984. It had been on the self for a year. I brought it home and began my love affair with the H&H that lasts till this very day.
That fabulous cartridge has been a life-long hunting companion on hunting adventures ranging from coyotes to black bears, elk, deer and kudu. Paul Mauser definitely got it right with the 7x57.
The problem with 6mm arc, 6.5 G, 6.8 spc, and 224 Val, is that the case is too big for the lugs on the bolt-face of the AR 15 size bolt. They shear the lugs and break the bolt face all the time. Fine in a bolt-gun, but I’d stay away from the AR guns
Great article guys. But no replacement for displacement as in the auto world. Give me my S&W 500 in .50 caliber. I have no problem with recoil and the compensator helps.I know it's one of the "newer" calibers but is coming around as one of the top bear guns out there. The only issue ammo is expensive and not available everywhere. But as stated it is a back-up gun not a target pistol. I have a 10mm I also have in the pack but comparing the holes and damage inflicted to the target and how heavy a lead load going downhill is you know what I want.
Let’s get rid of something we know is a solid idea and are already geared up to produce. For something we just designed to sell more ammo that is essentially the same thing. Please explain to me how that’s a good thing. I’m never going get rid of my 35 Remington 336 Marlin. If your in the same boat as me it is possible to convert 308 Winchester into 35 Remington. Yea it’s a bit of a pain in the butt but it can be done.
I don't think this round will do anything for hunting. It wasn't designed with that in mind. As for the Military side, they are looking to maximize performance out of short barrels( under 14"). I just don't understand why they needed this round. You could have put a steel head on a .308 and upped the pressure to do the same thing. Plus you have way more options on bullets in .308 than .277 fury.
Your problem is your action most actions are capable of being I don't have that problem because all my rifles have longer magazines I do not like the standard length actions and will always choose a true long action and long cartridges the prc are not for me
