BlacktopBuckets is a channel dedicated to having a discussion about NBA basketball. The main portion of the channel is commentary discussing trending topics, news, signings, trades, and NBA rumors. I also post highlights, mainly the ending of exciting games that I find interesting to upload. Occasionally, I do trade simulations and tutorials on NBA 2K. The main goal is to provide content for NBA basketball fans such as myself.
Here's a take - basketball is the first USA sport to go truly global. Pro leagues can be found all over the world and with their growth elite talent is showing up too. For the first time is USA history, an American sports league is in the early days of facing global success and the influx of international talent. The commentators are almost all, exclusively, American with little international experience. They don't know what to do with it. The NBA is an American institution, foreign players were an cool, fringe, anomaly. Internationals were coming to their country and their league. They haven't realised that as with soccer, basketball is growing beyond its home and will eventually be a world sport not an American one. The NBA may well have to face something like the English Premier League and its counter part the English Football Association. Do they remain the world's premier basketball league and embrace the international elite, seeing more and more foreign stars and players on all teams? Or do they seek to keep the NBA a primarily American league and limit the international participation. Many people have suggested that the English national soccer team has been weak on the world stage partly because they sacrificed the development of English talent by bringing in international talent in order to maintain the preeminence of the league over all others. Other nations do better in European and World Cup tournaments despite having less recognised national leagues, because they continue to develop home grown talent. If that's true, will the NBA face a similar question in generations to come? Maybe. For now, the American sports media is struggling with a reality that it has yet to acknowledge - the days of the all-American NBA are over. International players are here to stay and we'll only see more and more international greats in the years to come. Sports media hasn't adjusted yet. And that's why we've got these dumb takes. The international players don't fit into the old school mindset. Maybe NBA media gets outsourced for international markets. Maybe American media broadens its mindset to adjust for a global league. Right now, we're just seeing uncomfortable talking heads with bad takes.
I think the funniest thing of this all, is Jokic could give two fks if he’s MVP or not. He is more excited to go home, with the fam, and enjoy his horses lmao
Please stop it, Jimmy Bumler is overrated trash. Remember the 12 and 13 point games he had against the 2020 Lakers and 2023 Nuggets. The guy needs handouts from the refs to get his points just like James Harden and CP3. ANT gets his earning them the right way.
Shaq is acting like an insecure diva because deep in his brain he knows that if Joker manage to get a couple more titles, he will probably lose a spot in the "greatest centers of all time" discussion.
Dennis Rodman complained that Larry Bird won 3 MVPs in a row because of race. The years Bird won them, the Celtics won 2 NBA Titles out of 3 appearances, with him winning 2 Championship MVPs. Quit crying about race. Jokic is the best player in the world.
Moses and Joker both have three MVP’s. They are similar players who will have similar careers. Joker will likely be considered A BETTER PLAYER. Were people complaining about Malone’s MVP awards? Racism is alive and well in the NBA. More important is that the top 4 vote getters were all born outside the USA. How incredible is that? American basketball is effectively dead and most of the analyst are pretty fuc*ing racist it appears. Can’t believe Shaq, after what he’s watching now, believes SGA is better than Joker. As good debatable BUT BETTER? A superior player this year? No not this year and 2025 doesn’t look good as the big man doesn’t look like he’s slowing down. The big surprises are coming when they announce the first team all-nba squads. 2nd and 3rd team selections will be tense as well. Here comes the WHINING!
I'm a die hard Nugget fan and I have ZERO issue with what Shaq said - it's his opinion. I have EVERY reason to hate what Perkins said because it's flat out racist.
Cmon Shaq… I’m not even a Nuggets fan but Joker did his thing all year. He made the team better. Without him the nuggets will just be a play in team rather top 3
Reddick proves just how useless he is as a player an analyst. Now that he is going to coach the Lakers, you can forget the Lakers ever getting to the Finals again.
