Ive pre-ordered the 078s as I do 90% espresso and then do filter, and aeropress sometimes... also the decent DE-1 espresso machine with the filter v3 basket, you need a grinder that can go coarse enough, 078s can...
I'm going to try this tomorrow I run a coffee shop out of my van and have been going mad trying to figure out the best pour over method to introduce. I've gone through so much coffee and filter paper so looking forward to trying this method tomorrow morning.
Great video! I feel like if you had a non goose neck kettle, you could use a pouring shower screen or a non heating goose neck pot, that you would transfer your hot water to, for easier control.
I just picked up a pre-owned Robot on eBay. It’s the barista model with pressure gauge, extra basket, and tamper. Color is a basic matte black, which is my favorite. I have really wanted one for a few years now, and am so excited to receive it! The flair 58 is beautiful no doubt, but it’s a much larger footprint. I have the Flair Classic, and although I can get decent espresso out of it, the workflow and thermal management is not the best, sorry to say… (I still do love my fully modded Gaggia Classic Pro 💕)
really appreciate your thoughtful detailed review as well as your acknowledgement of possible unconscious bias. For that, and many other reasons, I really enjoyed your video. Thank you!
HX machines are a lot of faff. E61 is also an outdated tech. Although I do prefer the looks of those (Bianca and Apartmento look tremendously good). But two boilers are way more stable and the saturated group isnway more efficient. That's it.
Thanks for the review. I bought 3 Baratza Encore many years ago for my office. It is a kind of difficult to clean thoroughly, the curve of the way for coffe to go to the collection box is a kind of S-shape, which is difficult to open and clean. The Opus seems a lot easier. And it is more pleasant to use easy to clean & maintain grinder.
I have 8 pounds of Ethiopian coffee, divided into 4 bags of 2 pounds each. Can I put all of this coffee in a vacuum sealer and freeze it? Or should I divide each 2-pound bag and freeze it separately when I open it? Then, can I keep the remaining 4 bags at room temperature?
If this was 5% larger, it could use a 58mm basket, you could use standard accessories, would have a larger shot volume, and there'd be enough space for a standard coffee scale. That would be perfect and I'd buy it in a heartbeat.
Great and simple review which I appreciate. You didn’t mention using these for French Press coffee, I assume the Breville would be the choice for that, since you would want a coarse grind for French Press. After many reviews, I purchased the Breville for French Press and espresso purposes since I’m just starting out.
This is so helpful even though I’m not in the market for a new machine yet but these points are great to know ahead of time for any future machines I might buy. Thank you for your honesty. This is a true review with pros and cons! Much appreciated.
Hi, your videos are excellent, thanks for doing this. My wife and I really want this machine. However, we are on our second one in a week. We tested the pressure on both machines using a single wall filter with the cleaning tool inserted on top of it and ran just water through the filter. From other videos, including one by Breville, the pressue gauge should move to the upper limit on the pressure gauge. But, on both machines we've purchased, the pressure barely gets to the halway point. We have tried other tests with coffee, various burr and grind settings and when extracting a shot of coffee the pressure barely makes it into the black part of the pressure gauge. Are we just unlucky and have run into two straight faulty machines or are we missing something?
Love the 4:6, but I'm having a hard time with the Kalita Wave. The flow always restricts after the third pour no matter how I adjust the grind. With the V60 however it's a great result every time.
Hi Kyle, Thank for this video. I am really doubting between these machines. And thank you for discussing the heating up time. It is indeed important for me. And how are these machines actually used? Do you turn the machine off every time, or what are the standby modes and time setting ? Thanks 🙏😊
these things have brass and I think lead in them, I'd get a marax otherwise but... NOPE surprised they're allowed to sell these. some have coatings but those can wear off very esasily with time or descaling. specially descaling can release lead.
all this talk about retention and saving 0.2g here and there, and then you run several doses through the grinder to "season it" or dialing it in. come off it, ffs
It’s an incredible masterpiece of a home espresso machine ❤ I have been a barista and a roaster so I caught on pretty quick. I’m am though very studious about my maintenance to insure my machine has a long life. WELL DONE BREVILLE, WELL DONE ❤
The first time I heard about it wasn't even someone who told me Abt it. I saw a B roll on an espresso machine ad and was instantly "WHAT IS THAT " I thought "coffee - good. Orange juice- good. Both - awesome" Firstly because I really like fruity and acid light roasted coffee, and second because it just feels refreshing to even think. I live in a hot country, drinking hot coffee latte or milk in any form isn't the most recommendable if you don't want bellyaches for 2 days, and sometimes we need something to enlarge the quantity of time spent drinking the coffee without also having to deal with a massive migraine 2 hours later. I love it, it's refreshing and cozy, it's citric and full-bodied, I like to mix the oj normally with some fruity or spicy coffee. Everyone should try it.
