Patrząc na trafienia można wywnioskować, że w prawdziwym pojedynku szablista już by nie żył. Kilka razy zostałby przeszyty rapierem. Rany cięte od szabli nie są aż tak groźne.
And I was obliged to fight five times in this way. And five times, for my honor, I had to fight in unfamiliar places without relatives and without friends to support me, not trusting anyone but God, my art, myself, and my sword.
nope. Just proper modern footwork are suppresingly superior than outdated and wannabe "as yu walk" pseudo-italian. Same true for training methodics. In outcome olympyc fencing give us much more potent fighters, and they even are more adaptive. HEMA still need 15-20 years to catch up.
There was a fellow some years ago showing off his katana skill by slicing airsoft bbs out of the air... Deflecting arrows is definitely in the realm of things humans are capable of. But you probably need to be one of the people with eyes fast enough to see the stitches on a fastball and then practice your sword skills like crazy if you want to rely on it at all.
a lot of folks talking about rapier losing the cut making a big difference, but I think a bigger loss in points suffered by rapier was that Mr. Kalus demonstrated a propensity to leave his guard to the outside of his frame and angled in which gave Ms. Sokol a lot of great points of leverage to get strong parries and also surrendered a lot of his reach. Mr Kalus seemed to respond poorly when she beat him offline and closed. not panic, just an unfamiliar movement where he seems used to voiding instead of parrying or closing the line.
Her Rapier work was TERRIBLE.. She never used it at all correct.. It's RAPIER AND DAGGER... NOT .. DAGGER AND RAPIER.. she didnt use length advantage by putting rapier in front.. Maybe her arm gets tired so she hangs rapier low and stabs a bit..This was not good comparison at All..
The saber has some nice defensive features besides the absolutely massive skill of the user. Pretty neat to see how a less rigid weapon can be a disadvantage.
It would be great that the best original warriors from the past from the related eras would confront each other with these same weapons. Then we would really find out which weapon is the best.
Very interesting comparison, but of course you have to remember that the use of edged weapons in a two-person fight like in a championship is completely different than on the battlefield. I believe that on the battlefield in close combat, the edged weapons that produce the most force are superior. I would choose a slightly curved cutlass, agile, robust and with enough energy in the blow.
What this has taught me about winning in Rapier: You need four things to win a rapier exchange; distance, timing, arm strength, and experience in theft
I'm drinking mead and watching your video... And I'm trying to figure out a combination of Fiore de'i Liberi's two-handed techniques with shieldless one-handed techniques 12st. and I find it possible. :-) You have amazing and very interesting videos, for example, about the combination of different weapons against each other. It's a pity that we haven't preserved techniques with a one-handed weapon and shield. I think Fiore has a special grace in movement, unlike the German masters. Greetings from the Czech Republic. :-)
Being honest I thought one of them would stomp the other, but they are very close, Long Sword gains with Lenght while Sabe with Speed, in the end they are very paired but Long Sword is a little strong, but it can be because of the user. It's also interesting to test if the Saber with a dagger or a buckler would do better
Me parece que están más preocupados en no ser tocados que en causar un daño real en el oponente. Si sus vidas corrieran un peligro real, el combate sería más corto y sin tantas idas y venidas. No me gusta.
