Repair How To videos, 3800 and w body information, and car content of all kinds
I have spent most of my life in and around automobiles, now i am finally going to put all that experience in one place. Come see me in between videos on Instagram and twitter @Salemdoyle_YT and Facebook at: facebook.com/askNcgtp/ Enjoy!
I use to build engines for the Ford motors company and every single component is used from the junk yard that’s why all these engines timing chains break in less then 50k miles and sold for new 😂 sprockets, and chains should always be new
Hey I had a question for this project. I did the tare down and clean up last month and ready to start to put everything back together. For the new head bolts, the two size shorter/ longer lengths. I cannot remember for the life of me where the short/long bolts go. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!
Im going to attempt this in a few weeks on my 97 N/A park ave. Do tou have any tips on getting the the elbows that remain in the block out? What would you say time wise for this job for a fairly mechanically inclined home mechanic? I can handle small bocks but never really messed with newer stuff. Great video, and explanation.
My dad's got a '12 base cruze. was planning on trading or selling it when he hands it down for a 99 GTP like yours, just a sedan maybe. Pontiacs have been a constant in my family since they got here in the turn of the 20th century. Great grandad loved working for them, bought a Bonneville for the family and got my grandad a grand prix for his first car. Pontiac allowed my great grandad to have a stable job once his time in the Marine Corps was up in the mid twenties and then through to the 60's.
1997 Buick Park Avenue 3800 series 2. Love this car, love the power train. Replaced the lower intake gaskets around 120k. Replaced the MAF around 150k. Replaced the front wheel bearings around 100k, 130k, 160k, 200k.... Why the factory bearing last 100k, but no replacement Ive found last more than 30k?
oh, doyle rules! not sure if I should do this preventatively when I replace my harmonic balancer tomorrow. I already have the crank seal, it's not gm but it's a good brand. I think it's timken. my original seal doesn't seem to be leaking right now but it has over 220k miles on it so idk... should I expect it to start leaking soon?
What about the mileage and trip odometer? Mine just quit working but all the other gauges work. Is there a fix besides replacing the cluster? If so, do you have a video?
Either I'm crazy or I'm right to feel this way but my exhaust was just due to be replaced on my 2000 gt coupe, otherthan experimenting with suspension its all stock but ive installed the zzp 2.5" downpipe w cat and i feel like it could be making just a touch more torque but i swear after 80mph it takes longer to reach 100mph w this downpipe compared to old one, i may consider just putting old one back on but ill have the u bend delete welded on, i believe because this zzp downpipe is single walled besides the high flow cat that it's possibly lacking just a little backpressure it seems to need so i think it's morso the single wall of the downpipe and i dont like the way this downpipe sounds on full throttle, sounds like a lawn mower to me, it over powers the sound of dynomax mufflers, im just not as impressed by it, but it fit excellent no problems w fitment n looks good
what song? Also im gonna do mine on my gtp. I did my GT a few years ago i went through the passenger fender well/ under the car for the whole job. Inever thought to try through the top
I diagnosed a Toyota matrix 2005 model yesterday with a lean code p0171 and the upstream oxygen sensor was bad. In a case like this wat is d correct fix. I was thinking of a possible vacuum leak but I couldn't see any leak. I just want to know if replacing the O2 sensor is d right fix.
Can you help me please, i bought a used transmission for my 2000 gtp supercharged, i was told ,the transmission does not go into high gear, is the transmission bad or can it be an eazy fix
It took me longer than 17 minutes, but the video walked me through all the steps and I was able to do it all by myself. I feel pretty good about it. And the car feels good about it too. Thanks!
Time 2 scarp thoughts of Gtp, no more aftermarket support, no more property fitting parts, gonna have 2 let grandprix go 2 scrap, and youll end doin the same at some point, if u want an interesting car like this then u can only go w wthat there's support 4, hellcat, mustang, or anything foriegn, just not those alkieda cars ( kiya, yndai )
Thanks for doing this video I believe I got a crank leak on my 1999 Buick Regal 3800 V6 as well I’m getting the ACDELCO seal too :) these are very good engines easy to work and cheap to work on 😊
