My father purchased one of the first consumer home video cameras in December of 1978. This page contains various family home videos from 1979 through the 1980's.
Hard to believe there was a time when commercial flight was fun and exciting, something we looked forward to, even the time waiting in the airport. Plenty for everyone to do to pass the time. Now it's excruciating, especially the time waiting in the airports. Great video my friend, good stuff indeed! 👍 👍
Great stroll down memory lane. This was the first upside down ride I was ever on in 1981. It was also the first for my son who rode it some 34 years later in 2015! Thanks for posting!
This whole trip (plus the trip down from Chicago) is great... I lived in MCO around this time and this all looks familiar. This took some effort to produce. Thank you.
Before Sunday Night Football was on NBC and must see TV, Monday Night Football on ABC was a pop culture phenomenon for the better part of 3 and 1/2 decades.
Outstanding video. So great. Smoking announcement 😀 Announcement of drinks and a meal on 2 hour flight. I know that runway well from 14 years in Chicago. Big turn on take off. Great aircraft in the video. Memories.
Ive been visiting since 79 when I was a toddler. My husband and I and daughter were here last week. Ive seen this show hundreds of times and I still laugh when Big Al.comes out.
Thank you for posting. I needed that. I miss the old Marriott era. That footage was filmed on what now is the area where Roaring Rapids is today. I miss those days. The food there was better back then also.👍
Wow, those deep braked landings look scary. Guess that's the only way in to that tight landing area. One dude was jumping a 5 cell (Strato-flyer?), super scary.
Just like the old day when I was there and much more younger in those days and time back than I was 18 or 19 years old thanks for the upload video this brings back old days
What is the engine featured in this train? I’ve never heard of the steam locomotive or what railroad is on the tender is that a possibly a new Haven locomotive?
I remember Dad taking us boys right where these cars are parked out on Irving Park Rd. we'd sit outside and watch as the planes took off. Back then they utilized those 2 runways for take-offs of every type of aircraft both Commercial and Cargo all except the 747 and 747-200 which were the only variants at that time. My Aunt and Uncle had a house in Wood Dale IL. and you could look out the kitchen window at night and it looked just like a highway of cars coming towards you with their bright lights on. Twice a day they had a TWA 747-200 come in 1 from LAX and the second from STL of course the one from STL would be used that evening for TWA's ORD - LHR ( London Heathrow Airport flight ) one part of my family would only fly TWA and the other part ( from Chicago ) would only fly on AA in fact my other Aunt and Uncle flew AA FLT 191 ORD - LAX regularly to see my cousins. They were originally booked to fly on the ill-fated fly 191 but my Uncle needed the employees to finish a bid before he could leave, so my Aunt Ruth called AA and rescheduled for the following day. I'm told many had last minute changes that took them off or put them on the Ill-fated flight. In fact one celebrity to have a last minute fear in her gut was the 'Bionic Woman ' Lindsey Wagner was traveling to LAX with her Mother and told her Mom, "Mom, we cannot board this flight, I have a terrible feeling, Mom lets cancel this flight for another tomorrow." Lindsey's Mom knew she was a no-nonsense type of person immediately agreed with her and they cancelled. It saved their lives. Seeing this footage brings back memories of days when we could walk pretty close to the door and if Dad were traveling for work we could sometimes get on with him and sit in the CAs or FOs seats while they did walk-arounds. First Class was so classy back then, but heck I'dve sat on the floor as long as I got a window. I want to thank you for posting these memories which lead to other memories, these were great times. Thanks again!
My dad is Craig walko! The 3rd skydiver to land, he did that show every night for a decade! I just showed this to him and it put the biggest smile on his face.
My all time favorite ride! Is this the only existing footage of the whole thing start to finish? Thanks so much for posting this and allowing me to relive this magical experience.
I met Mr. Dreamfinder and Figment in 1983. I think the old version is by far the best. I now live on the side of a volcano in South America and I have my stuffed orchid Figment with me. Thanks somuch for this video.
Took my first solo flight at 5 in the fall of 82. Eastern Airlines, BOS-ATL-MOB to stay with my cousins for four months. Got my wings and some popcorn from the FE on the BOS-ATL leg. If he only knew that would set that kid off into career in aviation years later at the age 46 ✈
Hello, I'm currently working on a video about the August 10, 2020 Derecho and was wondering if I could use your footage with proper attribution and credit given?
Lived in Niles 1970 in high school My friend and I use to ride our bikes to Ohare on Higgins rd. The fence line to watch planes land on 22R. Took pics with my instamatic Kodachrome slide film Those were the days so long ago 😢
I wish this coaster was still around looks super fun but then whizzer would be gone but i would rather that happend but i wish they just canceled super man and kept both because i think both rides would have been better than superman because supermans layout is pretty boring except for the pretzel knot or loop
The Gforce you got going thru the second and 3rd "twin loops" were brutal, and hitting that first break stop was really bad if you were at the front of the train. The best seat was the last seat, you got negative G's at the top of the hill as the front of the train pulls you over the top of the lift. you also suffered less head banging going into the first block breaks because it was already going slow by the time the end of the train hit that nearly 90 degree turn.
