Great video. My 6l80e just did something recently after being rebuilt. When it's in park I can hear noise and when it's in gear it goes away. Then when backing up it kind of goes clunk like it's popping out would you have any idea where I should start looking?
I have a 2015 suburban with a 6l80. When I bought it there was some TQ converter shudder. I found out that the factory tune allowed 200+ rpm slip in the converter. I went in and turned all the sub-tables to not allow it to slip. I hope this buys me some time to save up to have the transmission rebuilt. Have you ever done this or seen it done?
Hello 👋🏽 @ performance transmissions. I have a question: I'd like to swap an engine from a 2001 Mustang V6 3.8L that has a 4-speed automatic transmission. And replace it for a 03-04 Cobra engine and pair it with a 5 speed automatic transmission. Is this modification possible?
Thanks, Great video, I am dealing with 6L90 and It does not go forward and no reverse, we open it up and 456 clutch are toasted , I have 2 question , do we need to replace new torque convertor, also why there is no movement situation on this type of transmissions? , I could not find any video on youtube regarding to test torque convertor when it is not installed on the car.
Hello I have a question 2014 6L90 transmission does good until it heats up then it doesn’t want to pull in reverse, I have it torn apart but I don’t see anything worn. Can I please get your opinion? Thanks Herman
For the center support seal inserts, you said the ones on the transmission were only needed in the early versions, but the Sonnax zip kit instructions don’t seem to reflect that. Also, you put the two large springs in the outer seal holes, but what I read said that the smaller ones go in the outer holes on the 6L80. I did a very similar build to my 6l80 recently. Shifts good and fluid looks good. I have noticed that in 4th gear, the transmission will get hot. I have manually shifted it into 4th, not towing just driving normal it slowly builds heat. The minute I allow it to shift 5th 6th temperature goes right back down to normal. Have you ran into this before?
@performancetransmissionsll1573 Do you have any experience with the Sonnax Heavy Duty hub/shaft (10468036)? I'm planning on adding a Truck Norris Cam and headers with tune and want to make sure my 6l80 build can handle at least 650 HP. Thanks for this video BTW! It is very informative!
id rather let you rebuild mine even if i wanted to, your work is immaculate and ive finally had converter failure at 185k.......do i call you guys and get a price on a whole rebuild or??
Just curious why you don’t reuse the TECUM. I’m still a Junior builder but have rebuilt 20 to 30 of these (50,60, and 90 versions) and have only replaced 1 TECUM. Reason for replacing was one of the electrical pins pulled out of the TECUM (that was fun to diag). No disrespect, I like seeing what other do and why.
