When they released their first EP, it was "They Have No Reflections" & "Traitors Never Play Hangman" that were literally the only reasons i fell in love with them in the first place back in high school. They evolved so effortlessly tho and watching them from the literal beginning of their musical endeavors is pretty rad now. They had a shit ton of bands trying to sound like them. 😂 Fun Fact: On their first US tour, I was able to get them to come to my home town on an off day and open up for Job For a Cowboy. This was back in the very early days of Myspace when it was very easy to get in touch with artists still. Those were the heydays of the internet imo.
If you dont know - as you say - what black metal is, I want to give you an advice. Mayhem themselves dont claim to be black metal. Question is how to define what black metal is. Some say it doesnt matter if it sounds like black metal if the message is not satanic then it is not black metal. Therefore, Mayhem is not black metal. If you want to dive into real black metal (in the sense of people who beliefe in the devil and bringt that message to their listeners) I want you to check out one of the very best black metal bands: MARDUK. Check out two songs:"the black tormentor of satan" and "blood of the funeral". The first one is early Marduk and the second is from their newest record. You will not find better black metal out there (even if some other bands are close to them)
Most 80's metal is like the most fun party ever. Most 90's rock gives you the vibe of what the hangiver from that party might feel like. Guns N Roses and Skid Row are two bands that are the in between of that where youre hungover but still partying or something
@@Aquarius999FJS uumm no, been longer time in the band doesn't make him the Best, I admit that Daemon album is good, opera kind sing, but for the scream or anger, he sounds like he has a intestinal obstruction
@@danielramirez1384 I am pretty sure you dont know on which Belphegor song Attila ist singing right? Its the same song Glen Benton sings a part. And know why? Head of Belphegor knows the best black and death metal voice: Attila and Glen Benton.
They have recording equipment that they use to make their singing voices sound better sure Tom DeLonge sounds like crap live but none of the audience seems to even care if he sounds bad and that is surprising u pay a lot of money for concert tickets and u get their and u realizing their singing voice is terrible
It’s ok bro all the small things is not only the worse blink song it could possibly be the most annoying pop punk song ever made. Even Tom the singer has admitted to hating that song when they play it at Padres games. To really dig into some of blinks deeper tracks I recommend checking out their greatest hits album. Songs like Man Overboard and Not Now are some of their best work.
Figured you out is a Goated Nickelback song tho. First time I heard it was in a strip club right as this stripper bent over at door. I may be biased 😂🐱
Yeah, weirdness is a part of it, that's why I find the black metal style close to me as a weirdo. Personally, I like it when songs start suddenly and end suddenly, they sound like a message from beyond, or a lightning strike on an alien planet.
Respect. Growth is pivitol especially as we mature not only as people but fans of music. As a former music major I've learned so much about Art, specifically music and how the pieces we call songs impact our lives. I relate to this, in that I was very anti pop punk. But as I grew I learned the opinions I once held in my teenage developmental years are in no relation to the human I've become in my middle adulthood years. Life is a ride, the fact is the band is talented And the opinion is whomever we choose to grow into our taste is going to change. Sushi one day fried chicken the next! Thanks. P.s. that is a sick converge shirt!
Putting the B sides in this album is nice. (Heaven Help Us, My Way is Through You, Kill Your Friends.) Would be interested in seeing your reaction to Conventional Weapons (which is rough because it was originally unreleased), and Danger Days.
Give me one good reason has to be my favorite. From the first few seconds of the song, that tone hits a nerve in my body that I never knew I had. Very strange how this song can do that.
Hey man, I like how you go into these things with open mind and ears. Clever takes...this stuff brings me back- about to turn 40.😮 And Travis Barker on the drums really sets it all off. Good otherwise, but next level with his drums
19:04 “fuck it let’s turn it up” is so accurate and the bassist is cliff burton those who know of him he was a legend and loved by all dying tragically in a accident if you haven’t listen to more
Haven't read thru the comments yet, but if it wasn't suggested you should look into the making of this album. I found it interesting. This album has a lot of the Boxcar Racer sound to it.
