Hi! Thank you so much for these informative videos! I've been watching your videos and they are so helpful in learning how to make my own incense. However, I've recently come across a problem which is that my incense cones tend to produce a burnt smell and the burning line (burnt black area) is quite big and charred. Is there anything I can do to solve it? I'm comparing them to incense cones from Shoyeido which don't have this problem at all and smell so lovely and perfumed so i really want to get closer to that aspect.
Great and informative video! I have a question I was hoping you could help with - I've made some really good joss stick formulations using about 20% joss powder as the wood binder, a pinch of guar powder (to strengthen the sicks), and then botanicals, barks, sages, etc. It burns consistently and doesn't go out - but my problem is, my sticks give off a LOT of smoke. Will sprinkling in like 10-15% charcoal (along with the joss) help reduce some of the smoke? I'm not looking for completely smokeless, just looking to decrease the smoke by like 40%. Any tips? Your channel is the best, thank you for being so helpful and thorough!!!
The charcoal would likely help reduce the smoke, but I would also look at your ingredients to make certain everything is 100% dry. Water in your ingredients, especially resins, will create more smoke. Let me know how your experiments work out. Thank you for watching!
@@IncenseDragon I tried adding activated charcoal to my mixture at around 5% ratio and it cut the smoke by about a 25%. Going to play around with adding a 10% and a 15% ratio and see what happens. Thanks for the tips!
Thank you for the update! I have purchased during this time and I appreciate you for the fast turn around time even tho you have been going through this rough time. Great things coming for you guys! Blessed be!
Thanks for the update! I was just thinking about you guys over this weekend, as I burned some incense, and * poof! * here comes a new post! So glad to hear & see that you are making progress. Looking forward to more how-to videos, when you have time. 😊
Thank for the video my brother from another mother :) look... I was searching for this variation of this specific device and I didn't find it anywhere can you tell me please from where to get the same one as you have?
Omg! I watched a whole bunch of your videos last year and I learned so much. I'm really sorry for the loss, I hope everything goes back on track. Sending you positive thoughts!(just purchased the digital booklet because I'm considering making incense myself and that's why I came back to your channel)
Hi Carl, I just placed an order with your store! (No rush!) I've been interested in incense since I bought my first box of cone incense from LA when I was in High School, over 60 years ago that had a cool red Dragon on the label! So here we are, full circle - and meeting for the first time! All the best on your unexpected journey back, and I'm very grateful that no one was hurt; you have EVERYTHING you need!
This was a surprise to learn about, my sympathies Carl! I bought your book a year ago, but only stumbled on your videos and website in the past couple of weeks ("Hey, it's the guy who wrote the book!", haha). So when I read a blog post about the fire, I immediately felt for you buddy; any of us could easily imagine the shock and loss you've just experienced. I'm about to order some tools and stuff right now from your website, though, since I'm finally poised to start making my own incense. Do your best to keep things in a grander perspective; it's a setback for sure, but you're alive and still able to rebuild and start again. The world is full of examples of scenarios that don't end that well. <3
Great way to start a fire!🔥 I made this incense. It burned so fast & was popping pieces of hot coal here & there. Glad I found the pieces before they burned holes into my table & floor
Does the amount of scent matter? Or the size of the cone? I followed your instructions to the letter, but only a little bit of the oil. I then made them into cones, but they still die after a few minutes. Plus i made my own powderd charcoal by hand.
❤ My Heart goes out to you & your wife love, I pray to the father son & Holy Spirit to give you everything that you are going to need to get your work back on top. Keep strong both of you. ❤
Certainly it can be, but it is a lot more challenging then tabu. Thousands of incense makers in India make incense using joss powder and splits, but it requires more skill and practice.
I am so sorry to hear this, I love your books and your willingness to share your knowledge and passion for incense. Usually when these things happen it’s making room for something better. All my best wishes for the rebuild.
Helluva "before" shot... wowzers. Gotta love your persistance. I look forward to more updates. Stay strong! Love that motto, "Fire doesn't stop a dragon."
Oh dear, thank you for the update. All the best rebuilding, and fingers crossed you’ll recover some of your treasures from the ashes. I’ve learned so much from your videos and books, you’re a great inspiration ✨🐉
