Who is Loki? Understanding the Trickster of the Norse Pantheon

Loki is a complex and complicated figure. And, while this can be said for many Gods, Loki is special due to the controversy that tends to surround him.
Having been first introduced to Norse paganism via Loki, and viewing him as my patron deity, I have a lot to say about him. I tried to make this as comprehensive as possible, but there's a lot to cover when it comes to Loki, and a lot of it ties into many different stories and interpretations.
While this video is a bit longer than I would have liked, I wanted to make sure to try and touch on the most important pieces, while elaborating just enough to try and make my point. That said, it's impossible to cover everything, and I will definitely be making additional videos about Loki in the future as there is a lot I still want to talk about and address.
Anyway, I hope this video is useful, and I hope you enjoy it!

I’ve been working with Loki since 27th December and in this short time he has given me so much personal insight. Like you, I can see Loki’s side of the coin. Imagine how you would feel if your children had been banished or, in the case of Fenrir, tortured by these people who thought they were infallible. You’d be pissed off. And these same people only ever blame you for the bad when you’ve given them good too (Sleipnir, Mjolnir) People only ever see him as an antagonist. He’s chaos. When Baldr was killed he was balancing out what the gods were unbalancing by keeping him alive. He was fulfilling the prophecy that Odin had set in motion by binding Fenrir in the first place. Loki isn’t a bad guy at all - he’s upfront and honest and will call you out on your shit if you think you’re perfect.

Literally I thought I was being contacted by one specific Deity, but then realized one day it was actually LOKI and once I figured it out and made contact with him, he was just laughing at me 🤣 I'm looking forward to seeing what I can learn from him. He's been giving me very much a Prankster, big brother type.

I have just recently started to feel connected to Loki. Within the last few weeks. I never saw him as evil simply misunderstood. I only ever saw him as someone who was helpful to me and those like me. I more or less gravitated towards him. Throughout my life I've have always been an outcast, whether it was family or school. I was bullied alot. I isolated. I still isolate to this day. I'm also currently homeless due to rising rent prices. I gained a lot of weight over the years due to my own lack of self confidence. And I have never really been much into any kind of faith, because it was constantly shoved in my face. For the first time in my life, I have started asking for help. Specifically from Loki. I have also found that through him, I can lie to others, but I absolutely can NOT lie to myself. I physically can't. And when I try I clam up and can't continue. I believe that's loki's way of saying. "You really don't want to finish that sentence." With a look of seriousness and knowing on his face. So while I am new to being a lokean. He is absolutely not as bad as some misconceptions make him out to be. As for Thor and Odin. Odin or the allfather not sure how to feel about him right now and I don't gravitate to Thor at all. But the whole ragnarok event I believe will happen. When is another matter entirely. And while jormungandr (apologize if I spelt it wrong) and Fenrir were prophesied to kill both Thor and Odin. I believe a prophecy is an event that will occur if certain criterias are met. And for me this is a theory and I could be a 💯 wrong here. Tying up Fenrir and tossing jormungandr to Midgard were the precursors and ragnarok is already been set in motion. So by Thor and Odin doing what they did they set the motions of ragnarok in motions themselves. Thereby sealing their own fate. Congrats by trying to stop something before it occurred you may have actually caused it. 🤷‍♀️🤦‍♀️

this is the BEST presentation of Loki. it was refreshing to hear someone else say the exact things I've been thinking while doing my research. I want to call him a misunderstood god but that would imply no one knew how great he was, which just isn't true. odin knew. odin kept him around for a reason. yes, it would end in his undoing but it HAD to be done and odin knew that. I hate to use this reference but better the devil you know than the devil you don't. thank you so much for this glorious look into this beautiful being😍

Hey Nash! just want to say thank you for your videos. I have very recently been introduced to Norse Paganism and I am very interested. I, like many others specially in the Hispanic culture, was raised Christian. and now in my early 30s I have come to terms that Christ is just an Idol. I was born in Puerto Rico, have been raised in south Florida since 8 yrs old, but my last name goes back to Spain, as well as many other last names in my family. I also have blue eyes, which are also European. So i guess what im trying to say is, Im trying to connect with my roots, and I feel the only way is through Norse Paganism. You are very intelligent and give much insight into these topics I long to hear more of. You are just a beautiful person overall, thank you for all that you do, you have earned a new subscriber!

I love your videos. You give good insight on the stories. I think if you are reading the stories it might be cool to give some insight. Old english is sometimes really hard to understand, so it might be nice to get someones perspective.

I love listening to you talk about Loki and their children-as someone who’s dabbled in witchcraft on and off for years and has only recently decided to fully dive into the craft and my beliefs, it’s helpful and fun to hear someone not only give their perspective on the well-known stories, but also reference the sources for many of the more obscure stories as well as voicing multiple points of view on the subject without being afraid to state your own mind in the process. Loki is a god I’ve wanted to work with from the beginning, though I happen to be more closely connected to his children, particularly Hel and Fenrir-both of whom have helped me with difficult times and decisions, as well as given me some perspective on grief and trust respectively. I really think I could also use some more of Loki’s influence in my life though, particularly when it comes to my shadow-work-I think a part of me has held back because of the fear that people will assume I’m only worshiping him because of the Marvel series or something, but I need to stop letting that hold me back-*I* know the character is separate from the god; whether others acknowledge that is on them. Anyway, sorry for the ramble; I guess I just needed a place to dump my thoughts after watching this where they have a chance of being read by someone outside myself. Again, I love your content-thanks for sharing with us!

Just stumbled upon this video and I'd love to add to "everybody forgets what the other gods have done" Look at Thor, he's at Baldrs funeral like: "am tense, I need to kill someone to take the edge off" and then throws a dwarf into the [ ] fire for his own amusement. "I want so smash someone with my hammer!" - should start counting next time when I read the lore again. Thanks for that video.

I can always count on Loki to be there to test my intelligence, creativity and will some times to my chagrin and I always thank him when he does. Some people confuse Loki with his evil cousin Murphy and his law. ANY THAT CAN GO WRONG WILL GO WRONG AT THE MIST INAPPROPRIATE OR WORST TIME. Once again when either one shows up and disrupts ones plans it’s a wake up call in the form of an Oh Shit moment with a lesson gee maybe I should have consulted Loki in my planning

I have a question, when do you actually start to hear Him/His responses. Iam talking to Him through Pemdulum / candles and meditation. So. Do you actually and when do u start hearing Him and seeing Him?

If I had a fair guess. He will let you see and hear him when he feels you are ready and not before. Being in the presence of any God can be overwhelming. And the last thing Loki wants is to push you away. He wants to help. Just be patient.
