Hi, I have been rewatching your videos for years. I find them very helpful. I don't know if you still monitor these videos. I have been using the plastic tubing for years. I was wondering if you have any suggestions about protecting carving gouges? I use the plastic tubing but it difficult for very large gouges. Any suggestions? Thank you Rod Forcier.
Hi, i have the Z11 pro and the Pro II and they are just great, I run mine with an 8 cell AA pack case which I velcro to the z11. 8x AA’s have lasted well over 6 months already, the great thing about the Z11’s is they use a latching mechanism so once the memory is set for that antenna / impedance match its saved and doesn’t need power to re activate. I have a slightly different question, I used in the past an FT897D and found the power consumption both on RX and TX very conservative! I am looking at the 891 as sold the 897d years ago, how do you find the pwr drain on the 891? Ive heard its quite hungry? Regards M0KTY Graham.
I have been using a 20M and 40M vertical very similar in construction to yours with great success on Field Days and also for POTA activities. I heartily recommend this antenna design. I don't use the balun, merely coils of coax to act as an RF choke.
I just landed on your channel and had a good time viewing it. Very nice job! I just subscribed to your channel. I just ordered the LDG 100A-DXE and hope it works as well as your Z11 Plus. 73, KA6VVD. I hope to work you someday my friend.
Late comers might want to save yourself some dough by making your own interface cable. I gagged when I saw Amazon offered these for US$23 and DX Engineering for US13. Not that I begrudge capitalism and I realize that some out there haven't gotten to the stage of heating up solderign irons yet and/or do not have the junk box others do, but the cable is easy to make. Simply do this: Stereo jacks have three connections. There is the "tip" or end of the jack, the "ring" or middle of the jack, and "common" or "ground" as the end of the jack closest to the threaded base. On the radio end of the cable wire the shield goes to the "ground" connection and the center conductor of the cable wire goes to the "ring" connection. On the tuner end of the cable wire the shield goes to the "ground" connection and the center conductor of the cable wire goes to the "tip" connection. guys please dont say c4fm sounds like top quality audio because it dosent, most of the time its bloody terrible, what i dont get is some times different radios sound and seem to produce c4fm differently.
As a new ham I have noticed a lot of guys will ask you a few times for your callsign then tell you they hear you 5:9. How much can you believe signal reports out there? I was told on contests everyone gives a 5:9
@@VE3BF As a new ham just getting on the Aurora net its nice to see what someone with a good setup hears. Looking forward to upgrading my antenna once the nice weather comes. I hope I can get more signal and less static : )
I also use a Hyend 8 bands (200W), mounted horizontally at 10 meters elevation. I really like it and I get great reports even at low power. I agree the quality of the material and attention to details is definitely there :)
Hello Denis, congrats on your Purchase of the TS-890S and tnx for the Video. Hope catch you on a new Band soon. 73 & happy Weekend de Your Friend Uncle Günter 💯🙋♂
Seems knife handles should be sized 11:12 as shoes and gloves as one size doesn't fit all My hands sound like a match I brought a Beaver Craft that handle was beautiful and solid but hurts my hand so I built myself a oversized handle and I'll cut away when I decide how much is necessary. Thanks, it looks nice. I'm hearing good things about the OCC Knives
Excellent tutorial. I am recently back into ham radio after quite a while of being away. I just purchased an FT-891 with this tuner. Could not be happier. I watched reviews on this tuner and the Pro ii version. Candidly, the pro version just didn't seem as efficient as the Z-100 plus. I am primarily interested in POTA right now so I wanted something with a simple interface. This met the need hands down.
Great video, I love it, it is well explained. This tuner does a great job, I tried it with an open wire line 450 ohms to an very long inverted vee,and I was able to use all bands from 160 up to 6 meters, with swr 1 to 1 , except it never worked on 30 meters. I investigate with numerous tests, and it was because my 42 feet 450 ohms line was interfering because it resonnate on 30 meters, So I added a couple of feet of line with a joint, and Bingo 30 meters was loading flawlessly. and the fact the added piece of 450 ohms did nmot interfere all the other bands. It is a real keeper, Thanks again for the nice demo. 72/73 Mike VE2TH THE QRP''ER FOR 60 YEARS now !!!
So... you spent almost half the video going over the stuff in your bag before starting to talk about what you said you were going to review. Dont get me wrong, nice gear, but maybe 2 videos here?
Thank you Dennis. This is exactly what I needed to get me going. The addition I would like to see more of, would be the about counterpoise. It's sort of a mystery to us new guys. I did find down in the comments to make it approximately 1/4 wave long of lowest frequency you are working with. Maybe you could add some text to your Recommended wire lengths and installation notes. Otherwise, it was perfect.
