I have a bottom jaw tooth and I'm on social security I'm 71 and it's causing my lips to go numb it's giving me headaches on the left side of my head it's affecting my left eye it's affecting my left ear I have been taking a clindamycin and even though I have Medicare Medicaid neither one will cover dental work I have nine teeth that have to come out but one of them is the one that's really infected it's like the third one back it's a jaw tooth on the bottom and the pain has been so bad I started a GoFundMe page and still haven't gotten enough money so I had to order me some stainless steel pliers dental pliers off of eBay I've ordered the syringe tips and all that to 30 gauge I'm waiting for the lidocaine to come in mixed with adrenaline once I get the whole package after watching the videos I have no choice I cannot deal with this pain much longer so now I'm going to have to bring a towel and sit it in my lap bring a mirror with me in the vehicle while my sister is watching me I'm going to have to give myself an injection in the mouth grabbed hold of that tooth and pull it myself if I start bleeding to death I will run into the dentist office who I don't even know and never met and so maybe he will feel sorry for a minute at least stop the bleeding but that's with poor people have to do that don't have thousands of dollars to take care of teeth that have broken down to the gums my front teeth are all nice top and bottom it's just the back teeth top and bottom that started going badis tooth that's infected I've been rocking it back and forth hoping that it would break loose and I can just pull it out with my fingers which has happened in times past with some of my teeth but if you cannot afford a dentist like I cannot I I suggest you go on eBay in order to three ingredients the stainless steel pliers the syringe and the lidocaine mixed with adrenaline watch the videos on RU-vid that shows you how to give yourself the injection and pull it yourself because you don't have no other choice if you don't have thousands of dollars I wanted to pay $100 a month to the dentist to do it but he wouldn't go for it.

I have an 8mm sinus exposure and I'm so annoyed because my dentist here in Australia took an x-ray before hand so he knew what he was up against. He seen my roots were curved and strong. I was in that chair getting bone drilled away ect for over 2 hours. I even felt the stitches going in because the numbing wore off and he never offered to top it up. Being such a big sinus exposure, what are the chances of that healing?

I’ve had a large one on the roof of my mouth my entire life. Over the years it has become very large and I’ve developed a large mandibular as well. It’s nearly impossible to comfortably rest my tongue anymore. Only way for me to stop fidgeting my mouth is if I suck my tongue in place and tense certain muscles but I am afraid that will cause problems. I’ve been noticing more and more recently that I’m always biting/scraping my tongue and even inside of my cheeks. I’m also having trouble breathing through my nose freely at night without nasal strips. Could these things be connected to my Tori?
@jaredwdds6884
@jaredwdds6884 27 дней назад
It appears that there may be a potential obstruction in the airway as a result of the tori growth. If you are considering seeking further advice or consultation on this matter, please feel free to reach out to me via email at info@smileaftersurgery.com.

Even after mentally preparing myself, my experience has unfortunately been worse than I expected. I'd say I have an at least average or slightly above average pain tolerance, and this has been worse for me than 2 other general anesthesia surgeries I've had in the past. My surgery was 5 days ago (now post-op day 4) and I had 2 large mandibular tori (each side under the tongue) as well as multiple large ones removed in each outer quadrant of my gums (exostosis). So in all, there were 6 areas they worked on with large amounts of bone removed at each area. I needed be under general anesthesia where they used a nasal tube to intubate me. Aside from a sore throat and a ton of pain, swelling, and tenderness at the surgery sites (my entire face is swollen up), my tongue seems to have gotten injured/scraped up in the process with swelling, teeth marks indented into the sides, and a diminished sense of taste. There's also a very sharp and hard white protrusion stabbing at the base of my tongue on one side, which I assume is a remnant of a bone fragment. It feels like a razor blade cutting into and scraping the base/side of my tongue, it's causing immense pain unrelieved by tylenol/Advil, and it's making it impossible for me to progress past a liquid diet as it's constantly stabbing me, especially when swallowing or trying to speak/eat. I'm thinking it's a piece that will probably need to be removed or smoothed down. Called the MD about this yesterday but since it's the weekend I did not receive a response. The tissue in my mouth is so tender and the tightness in my jaw makes it extremely difficult to open enough just to eat. The tightness extends past my cheeks and goes all the way up to my temples. I'm still on a liquid diet as I'm unable to advance and getting enough calories and nutrition is extremely challenging-- been feeling really lethargic and weak. I can talk with difficulty, and can't really smile or laugh yet. It's been challenging trying to keep my mouth clean. I often rinse with warm salt water, and try to gently brush areas I can reach (which isn't much as I can barely open wide), but everywhere you look there's just a ton of white gum tissue and sutures. This recovery has been extremely grueling and I'm really praying that things start to feel better soon. Hoping anyone who also had a difficult/painful recovery can share their updates to give me some inspiration on getting through this.

If I'm asking for pain meds, I desperately need them. I live with head to toe arthritis & a bad back that hurts EVERY day & I take otc meds ( the Ibuprofen/tylenol mix) which is not all that effective. If I have a painful procedure, pain meds are needed. To give nothing & suggest otc meds that are taken daily is cruel.

I had 2 very large and symmetrical mandibular tori. I thought one day they would seal through bottom of my mouth. Over the years my teeth began to buck and space out. After completing my Invisalign treatment as an adult, I had them removed right after on the Thursday before Easter this year. The surgeon wanted to do one at a time but I told them I have a high pain tolerance and would prefer to have everything done the same day. We also agreed to do local anesthetic for the surgery. Fortunately for me, it all worked out in my favor. He numbed the left side first and just gave me a little laughing gas but I was wide awake and humming the whole time. Then he went to another patient and came back and asked how I was doing and I said ready to knock out the other side. Since the left went so smoothly and I was talking and in good spirits, he agreed to do the right. The right side was a tad more difficult than the left side. I’m glad he did the left first or he may have not done both sides if he started on the right😂 I only went a day without my aligners and all my stitches fell out the Monday after Easter (tad too early but all is well!) I was given 15 Norco pills and course of antibiotics. I only took 3 pain pills over the weekend. I drank a whole bottle of ginger ale right after the procedure in the car and was eating slowly but like normal by the weekend. 😊 Of course it’s not the most comfortable procedure but each patient and experience is unique!

He did an xray and told me that the science isn't adding up and the implant looked good. It's like this man is calling me a lie when I haven't been able to eat for almost 1 week. This was a very informative video. I had a lingual tori removal last week. I had work done on both sides of my mouth towards the front & also a nip in the skin under my tongue as the doctor said I had a tongue tie. The operation took just over an hour. When the anaesthetic started to wear off, my mouth & bottom teeth were throbbing. I was given some meds to take for five days. Tomorrow is my last day. I honestly don't think I can cope without them. I have left a message at the hospital & someone should get back to me. I have seen beautiful examples of a surgeons work before & after tori removal. It makes such a difference. I know there's no gain without pain so I am looking forward to when mine has healed ,& I appreciate what a tricky operation this must be.

Upon taking X-ray it showed an impacted tooth on left lower jaw. I went to the dentist, but he denied saying these are not the symptoms of 3rd molars. I still wanted to go for removal as i feel it is and then he said that that root is touching the nerve and if we go for surgery i will not have sensations for 6 months or an year. I’ve had my 3rd molar removed… I knew right away something was wrong because there was a searing pain through my jaw bone which I called the dentist about and he assured it was normal.. had to go in on 3 seperate occasions for unimaginable pain where I couldn’t even eat sleep or drink and all I was given was some ointment new prescription of antibiotics (which did nothing) and Voltaren (also did nothing) then he said it’s dry socket and may take 2 months to heal… it’s been nearly 4 months and I am still in pain… I can’t talk, barely eat and sleep … my lips are so cracked it’s ridiculous… my life has taken a complete 180. The pain moves from the surgical site to other teeths on the same side… there was also a retained root left behind… my top molars are now also in searing pain… honestly I’m about my wits end. Dental care is also expensive here and I dont qualify for assistance in paying it 🤦🏻‍♀️ insurance wouldn’t even cover half of it… I really cant take it

Im not sure if you will see this but i hope so. Im due to have full mouth clearance of my remaining 15 teeth plus all 4 unerupted 3rd molars (we can them wisdom teeth in New Zealand), AND both sides lingual tori and palette tori all done in one surgery at public hospital under general anasthetic in hospital in preparation for traditional dentures. Implants are not an option as i am ineligable for private health insurance, our system is similar to NHS 8n UK. This will be minimal cost under public healthcare. Ive had other major abdominal surgery many times, so very familiar with preventing breath-thru pain and how combining medications can have a greater effect such as ibuprofen+tylenol. I agree codiene has had little impact on my previous dental pain, but i am unfortunately one of the very few people allergic to tylenol/paracetemol (bad skin rash myself, but appear to have inherited the allergy from a parent who was also allergic but more severely). My challenge is i am very concerned that ibuprofen alone (or naproxen btw} hasnt been effective enough to keep pain managed just leading up to this surgery. While i agree that tylenol/ibuprofen is apparently very effective for dental surgery, i dont have the option to use this combination. Other than opiods which i expect i will be prescribed very conservatively and i prefer to minimise dependency risks anyhow, is there any other strategies of types of pain relief i can discuss with my surgeon to trial in combination with ibuprofen to increse its effectiveness? Will be rinsing with salt water and/or cepecol, icing if recommended, trying distraction techniques etc as well but this is a major combined surgery and will be sent home with my family the same day to manage at home on my own which is daunting!

Stay encouraged, Distracting techniques don't matter as you will sedated and won't remember the procedure. Ask your doctor about the potential use of steroids to assist with pain management.

@@jaredwdds6884 It's not the during the procedure I'm worried about at all, they are using a full general anaesthetic rather than just IV sedation and in theatre. It's the post-op recovery that has me concerned, the first couple of days especially which unfortunately will be a weekend so I can't call the dental dept if challenging and if not coping my only option is the emergency dept at same hospital. The wisdom/3rd molars plus tori top & bottom is a lot, I'm prone to post extraction infection so have been advised to ask the surgeon to prescribe antibiotics which they dont typically do preventatively.

It’s been 4 years since 2019 that i am having this burning and tingling sensation constantly on the left side of the mouth After having RCT on 2nd molar and removal of both wisdom teeth(upper and lower of left side) . I have been visiting my doctor and other dentist over 2 ..3 years . They say nothing is wrong with me . There is no swelling , no infection so no medication was provided . So i visited neurologist and ENT doctors . They prescribed some medicine but the burning sensation never got away . Recently i went to another dentist After taking his medication , the burning sensation comes and go . I am still continuing his medication its been 7 months but I not completely cure .

If you are a candidate you will probably need surgery to repair. I know that sucks to hear but after 8-12 months the likelihood of reversal is low. Consult with a micronuerovasular surgeon. Check with your local dental school in the oral and maxillofacial surgery dept. Sorry 😞

I have a large midline tori that gets very sore from time to time. It does get in the way of dental xrays and I injure it on hard foods. How common are the upper palate large tori? I also had 2 sets of wisdom teeth and had one set removed. I'm strange. 😆 🤣 😂

It's not too common...you are good just the way you are.

I had all 4 removed about 6 weeks ago. My bottom lip and chin are still numb. My doctor has been very kind, but I'm not going to lie...I'm feeling angry. And I dont know whether to give it more time or start doing something about it. My doctor is currently "mapping" out my feeling with a sharpie.

You sound pissed... to be honest from the looks of it you have a doctor who cares and is competent. Most doctors have no clue how to navigate the complications of wisdom teeth. Sounds like you have a keeper. Stay encouraged!
