I went to a local dentist and they said a had a cavity under the gums on top of a nerve. He gave me about 5 shots, drilled my bone because it was impacted. One of the shots felt like I had walked into an electric fence and shot electricity out my chin. He talked about stitching it up( a tremendously large hole) but decided to pack it with gel. I wan in excruciating pain and went back to him 5 times in 2 weeks( as well as one visit to another local dentist) all they would do is repack. Never called me or checked on me. I asked about referring me to someone else but was told they they would only send me back to them. And that it would eventually heal. My daughter got me in at an oral surgeon and he found that I had a price of bone or tooth still in there, so he did surgery to remove it and stitched me up. I healed from that but it’s been over 7 weeks and 1/2 of my tongue is still numb and burning. I have bitten it many times and the surgeon sent me for 2 MRIs and is contemplating surgery to try to find and repair the nerve. What should I do? I’m 65 Yrs old and nervous but don’t want to live with this going on. Please advise. Thank you

I've suffered nerve damage from wisdom tooth extraction, 4 months ago. I have been in non stop burning pain since. The constant pain has completely destroyed my life. I can't sleep, work, focus, or exercise like before. The surgeon denied the complication, offloaded me to other dentists and left me to suffer in pain, begging him for relief the whole time, and even threatened to sue me for a bad review on Google, but this week I was formally diagnosed by a public hospital specialist with nerve damage, so I will be suing the surgeon. The public hospital doctor prescribed me capsaicin cream inside my mouth, for 12 weeks which is not going to be fun.

New subbie 5/24/24 I went to visit my dentist became of extreme hot and cold sensitivty. I got a couple of fillings #19 was so painful that i waa recommended to a surgeon for possible root canal. Prior to the appointment I began oil pulling with castor oil for a couple of days. No longer have hot sensitivity but the cold sensitivity is still there. Could the nerve be healed if I continued the oil pulling?

My doctor has never contacted me or checked on me after surgery. I’ve contacted him twice due to Symptoms but I think it should be the other way around. I’m having half of my tongue numb for over a week. Hi sir, i do not know if you would see this. But anyway… i had this pressure against my left ear radiating to left side of neck for which i went to the ENT. He said it might be due to wisdom tooth. Upon taking X-ray it showed an impacted tooth on left lower jaw. I went to the dentist, but he denied saying these are not the symptoms of 3rd molars. I still wanted to go for removal as i feel it is and then he said that that root is touching the nerve and if we go for surgery i will not have sensations for 6 months or an year. What should be done here?

1.5 weeks after I got my dental implant I started getting this random electric shock in my mouth when I talk and eat. I immediately contacted the Paradontist that did the surgery. He did an xray and told me that the science isn't adding up and the implant looked good. It's like this man is calling me a lie when I haven't been able to eat for almost 1 week. Im still little numb on one side of my face(lips, tongue and jaw) 10 days after and its effecting my speech. And still have some swelling. The wisdomtooth extraction was on the upper jaw though. I am 2 weeks after the removal of my (only) two wisdom teeth. Only had in the right side. The upper one made a perforation into my sinus cavity - the lower was basically lying horizontally with a slight downward slope, huge hooked root and very deep down. They had to remove quite an amount of bone. My chin, tongue, lower lip and the front lower teeth and a few of the ones right of the middle, are sort of numb but it also feels like I’m freezing in that area 24/7. (Strange how everyone describes it as burning lol - for me it feels so cooolllddd) But I guess 2 weeks is not long enough to know if my nerve damage is permanent. I’ve had two different antibiotic treatments to prevent sinus infection and I also have both of them as dry sockets. So I’ve had morphine to handle to pains. Now it’s mostly just the nerve damage that’s bothering me. Just hope it’ll get better soon cause it’s quite disturbing. I’m from Denmark. 🇩🇰

Damaged my mental nerve from a tooth infection on tooth number 20. Been about a month now and it SUCKS.... At times it is like someone is holding a match to my chin and just burning me. While at the same time its numb. Just had my root canal this past friday with crown lengthening. Holy crap am I swollen and in pain. I've suffered for two months from a wisdom tooth removal the numbing still hasn't went away! I’ve had my 3rd molar removed… I knew right away something was wrong because there was a searing pain through my jaw bone which I called the dentist about and he assured it was normal.. had to go in on 3 seperate occasions for unimaginable pain where I couldn’t even eat sleep or drink and all I was given was some ointment new prescription of antibiotics (which did nothing) and Voltaren (also did nothing) then he said it’s dry socket and may take 2 months to heal… it’s been nearly 4 months and I am still in pain… I can’t talk, barely eat and sleep … my lips are so cracked it’s ridiculous… my life has taken a complete 180. The pain moves from the surgical site to other teeths on the same side… there was also a retained root left behind… my top molars are now also in searing pain… honestly I’m about my wits end. Dental care is also expensive here and I dont qualify for assistance in paying it 🤦🏻‍♀️ insurance wouldn’t even cover half of it… I really cant take it

My daughter is a mess after her extractions 2 weeks ago. 16th was 2 weeks. She just ate noodles for the 1st time in 2 weeks yesterday. Poor girl got a bad infection, they said they'd give nitrous when she went for her consultation and they put the mask on her face but they never turned it on. She is 18 and a rape victim age 12, so her anxiety under the hands of a stranger is intense and I am just sad for her. They pushed on her cheek and green spewed out of the surgical site. He keeps blaming her saying smoking must have caused it (she HAS NOT SMOKED) then he blamed birth control. Then why didnt he give her an antibiotic prior, he knew she was on it! Said she was cramming food in the site. She hadnt even eaten! She lived on naked drinks for 2 weeks!

Hello doctor, I am very confused with what is going on with me. My premolars and molars have minimal sensation. The left corner of my mouth and area below it have some sensation but not to sharp pain and it tingles all the time. It bothers me, and it’s been going since the removal of4 major impacted wisdom teeth . I’m on Day 5 of recovery, but I’m so unsure what to do because I’m only 15 and got rushed into the surgery without little to no warning of any risks or what to expect. I am on day 7 after an extraction of my two bottom wisdom , the pain and static sensations shooting into my canine tooth has me afraid even after watching this even though you gave me some comfort ! I just don’t like the jargon usage and pretending that the medical field uses . Very sadly paralleled to the justice system . I know my surgeon is not perfect and I actually thoroughly enjoyed the day of surgery , he was very helpful and made me feel comfortable but now it just seems like things have changed ever since I uttered the word “numb”. but to suggest that this is normal after a surgery ?… What are the probabilities of this being permanent ?

Find reputable DMD Orsl Maxillary surgeon, one that treats u like human, not just a number with cash.
