Thank you for all of the videos. In this one I did not actually like the guest. You were explaining the concepts much better than her. I don’t think she prepared well, but maybe because of the family circumstances she is going through. I would love to see another guest talking about the issue of control
I am a recovering control freak. What I have learned is that we don't have to be in control all the time. That being said, sometimes I have to because others cannot do it. I need t help my husband to do things he cannot. NOW, I know when to take control and when not to do that. Just go with the flow. Take control when you have to and let go when you need to.
Sending love and sympathy to u Dr Jackson ...I see the tears in both your eyes. This is definitely from your top three podcasts. Need to have Dr Jackson around more PLEASE ❤ one word of advice, the split screen is really difficult to concentrate just because viewers keep going back looking at you and then your guest and back and forth when you take it out of split screen is much more helpful!!
A good way to start letting go of controlling tendencies is to read Melody Beattie's classic book, "Codependent No More." I had heard about the book for years, but didn't think it applied to me. When I finally purchased the book and read it, a big shift happened. Dr. Jackson mentioned the importance of self awareness, and this book really helps with that.
Many excellent suggestions made by Dr. Jackson and Dominique's story at the end was a great example of how letting go of control can be a win-win. If there is a follow-up to this discussion, I would suggest more focus on personal boundaries and the importance of respecting them. What I find particularly frustrating about "control freaks" is when they make unilateral decisions that affect me personally... plans made that involve me but without my consent. How to handle this? Thanks for the video... great topic.
One of the primary messages I get from this is the idea that you can let go of control when you can fully 100% trust that someone ELSE really IS in control, and its someone you can trust. To me that's not really getting comfortable with the true lack of control in life. The truth is that NO one is control, no person, no imaginary character, No. One. And THAT is what we can learn to get comfortable with , and that is what is truly freeing.
This was all-out click bait LOL. First of all, I LOVE Dominique and encourage her to follow her instincts and shoot for her dreams without any reservation. As a personal perspective only: For someone like me, this was a very disappointing discussion. Many of us struggle with being control freaks and bringing ourselves waves of frustration and resentment and desperation. This podcast presented as an interview with a mental health therapist on that important topic. But somehow the discussion led to saying that god is the "ONLY WAY" through this challenge. You've got to be kidding me. It might help to label or title videos in a way so those of us seeking help and advice on serious life topics don't have to be subjected to evangelizing. Most people are not going to find help in their real life by deciding to buy into an imaginary being. Please.
Oh, my heart! I love how faith in God was such a critical part of the conversation. I also love "a growth season" and taking that mindset and understanding when life doesn't go as you expect. Expectation is a huge problem for me, so this really spoke to me. Thank you both and God bless! Prayers to Jada and her family.
I can’t even watch you anymore with that awful blonde hair!! You were perfection as a brunette. This is not a good look and getting blonder all the time! IMO.
I agree, she does look better as a brunette, it suits her. This blonde is to light, she had it a honey blonde before that was nicer on her, but she still looks prettier as a brunette.
I'm so sorry Dr Jackson for your loss. You lost your brother in law. Your mother in law you are caring for lost her son . Your husband lost his brother . The ripple effect of it all just came to mind. Thank you for exemplifying real time what you're teaching. Dominique this was incredible . I love how she refers to and stands on the Word and combines it with her scientific understanding and medical knowledge . She's not science first she's God first "and this is how God made our brains . "You two are so blessed to have each other. I can't wait to see more of Jada. I'd love to have her as a counselor. I've relied on the Holy Spirit as my counselor . I trust Dr Jackson as an additional counselor because of her obvious faith and knowledge . You can see her love for helping others clearly too. The way she ties the Word in is incredible to me as a believer . Thank you Dominique for the best you tube video❣️I'd love to see more of her. I'm still stuck on thanking God you found her I can't think of what to request next . 😂
Hi, I am 68 years old, and went through menopause at age 43. I had been on HRT’s, which included Estrace and Prometrium until 2019 when I was diagnosed with BRCA1 mutation. I then had prophylactic bilateral mastectomies, and hysterectomy with BSO. Intraoperative I was found to have stage one fallopian tube cancer. The timing of all this was nothing less than miraculous. I had chemo prophylactically at that time., and have not had reoccurrence. As you would expect my HRT‘s were Ripped away from me. So essentially, I have been off HRT‘s for five years. I am wondering if stopping my HRT’s cancelled out all the years of cardiovasular, neuro protection. My main concern at this point is that my mother as well as her sister had dementia. I do have some arterial plaque, but not obstructive. My labs are all great and my lipid panel is fabulous as I am on Crestor. I really want to go back on some form of HRT, because dementia is a fate worse than death. No doctor will have a conversation with me about this. I just get the side eye and eye roll.
Jada I'm so sorry for the loss of your brother-in-law. My prayers are with your family. Dominique love this topic. I'm a work in progress with giving up control of everything. I don't remember the date but in the book Jesus Calling it said stop trying to be perfect because no one but me can be. How true is that. A topic I would love to hear you discuss is how to let go of resentment towards a sibling that has done some awful things to their parents and or siblings because they think the world revolves around them. Thank you again ladies for what you do for the over 50 community.
