One of the best videos I’ve ever watched! My therapist briefly mentioned this at the end of a session, so I decided to watch a video. You explained things so well, and every time I thought I need an example you gave an absolute banger that resonated with me. Well done, and thank you!
I'm glad I found your channel, everything is laid out with clarity. I had been thinking recently about how vilified 'negative' traits become and it doesn't make sense because they likely drove all the people we idolise and gave us things we didn't know we needed. Without them I think we'd lose nearly all of the people who contributed the most to various fields. For myself, it has been hard to acknowledge a confusing mixture of beliefs. This nagging feeling that there is something possibly exceptional about me (I shudder even saying it), flanked by the knowledge that I am average and in many ways deficient. So most of my adult life I have been suppressing this strange and unearned confidence, because narcissism is verboten. I went the opposite way in adulthood, shy, fearful, paranoid which was basically a personality transplant. It feels like the complicated relationship between rationality and mysticism / spirituality. I remember the comfort that came with believing in some form of being above us in a hierarchy, before we walked by a series of reasonable steps into a sterile space of materialism. It's a strange back and forth but like this shadow stuff, I'm getting the sense that a lot has been left on the table.
You were recommended on my home page, thoughtful and well put together video! I think you'd really connect with the work of Dr. Joe Dispenza if you haven't already! Best wishes
Super therapeutic & reassuring video, thank you. It's really helpful to think of that 'completion' moment as achieving an inner harmony regarding the artwork, I'm going to carry that thought forward. In my writing, I really have to focus on compartmentalising my 'writing' and my 'editing' modes, with most of the self-doubt coming from the latter. If the latter turns up volume while I'm writing, then it's game over. I essentially have to keep writing whatever comes to me first without thinking about it, even if what comes to me in the moment doesn't make sense at first, or doesn't sit well with the 'editor'. What comes first is almost always better than what the editor would 'write', and usually comes together in cool ways I never expected. Later on, aspects or moments of doubt can help carry a work forward through the 'editing' modality. There are always some moments where I'll doubt the entire project completely, but I see some comforting quotes from the likes of F.F. Coppola, Warhol and the one you've shared from Plath that basically all artists have those moments. It helps to reconnect then with the goodness of and intentions behind the art when that happens to get back on track.
Your video on shadow work really resonated with me. I noticed some interesting synchronicities with my own work in this area. I’d love to hear more about your perspective if you’re interested. Take care. I am INFJ
I would drop the jung stuff personally. The juice is not worth the squeeze. Look into some philosophy. Check out the Greeks and then go from there (skip the stoicism. Super gay)
@@jokeowo362 watered down and commercialized. People’s introduction to philosophy should be metaphysics- not ‘endure the cold because one day you will die’. Gives people the wrong idea of what philosophy is
Zoe, thank you for this video, I have heard several times about Jung's Shadow as I study philosophy, however I have never understood what it was or how it related to us until now, thank you for such an enlightening video, I am eager to see more of your videos and learn more about this Shadow Work, this could change my outlook on life. I just wanted to let you know that your videos could be life changing in this respect, please keep going ❤
Thank you for your perspective, and service to our World. Have you ever read "The Shadow Effect"? Deepak Chopra, Debbie Ford, and Marianne Williamson collaborated on this important book. Keep up the good work. Namaskar😇
Where the psyche is concerned, it seems that many people are caught up in a space where the blind are leading the blind, not understanding that the persona is but a means by which to cultivate self-presentation and not a substitute for a robust ego that can regulate and refine the energies offered up by the Self. I most heartily concur that fulfilling a unique potential through a process of individuation is the ultimate purpose of this life 💛
@@itszoewinter You are so welcome! I love your give on purpose. Once humankind as a whole becomes really curious about what lies beyond the ego, persona, and shadow, that is when the real fun begins! 😊
I want to dance but i feel my body is stiff and after hearing many things in childhood that your body is stiff you can't dance blah blah Can we integrate shadow work in it
I can relate to this a lot, so I’ll speak from my own experience with it- yes definitely shadow work is great for this! I’d suggest looking at your persona, the image of who you are which you identify with, and the beliefs it holds, eg: “I can’t dance because I’m so stiff”. The more you hold onto this belief, you will naturally suppress anything that goes against it and this is where your fear and shame grows! I’ve found it helpful to integrate this part of yourself by slowly “adding” this (eg dancing) into your identity, or self-concept (you can do this through affirmations!) until you gradually gain the experience to back it up. And whenever dealing with the shadow, accept that it will be awkward and not your best, you’ll likely feel very triggered and have strong waves of emotion when first confronting it, but allow this to happen- eg, you can list the smallest steps you can take to become “someone who is comfortable and happy to dance” and then when taking them, also use neutral or healthy distractions to deal with the discomfort that comes up. With time it should get easier, I promise, and you’ll have less fear and resistance in yourself💗
20:51 - 21:07 Your laziness is just underdeveloped? If you could go a lot deeper on this and explain it so that I can take action. Would be really helpful... Thank you. Seems to be one of the very few helpful videos on RU-vid. So much clickbait.. it's a jungle out here.
I hope you like this video☺ the books I mentioned are “Modern Man in Search of a Soul” C.G. Jung, and “The Courage to be Disliked” Fumitake Koga, Ichiro Kishimi✨💭 Let me know your thoughts & if you have any questions! tysm for watching🫶
I don't like to get angry because of seeing my parents. As a child this scared me. I have gotten angry and lost control it waa then i decided not to get angry. And i was only in elementary school. I also dont like how it makes me feel. So interesting the meaning of persona. This was really good. Thank you.
I'm just starting out with shadow work on myself, have watched several YT 'how to' videos but found yours the most concise and well explained. Thank you so much for this. I believe this is going to help me a great deal.
Thank you kindly for this content! ♥ I have PTSD and dealing with people became terrifying for me. It got to a point where i might loose my home due to extreme isolation and consequential financial problems. This video really motivated me to grow out of my fears, i wanna overcome this.
Not sure if you’re still looking for different writing software to use, but I recommend Scrivener. You can get it half off the normal price of about 60 dollars if you win a Camp Nano or a regular Nanowrimo. It does have a 30 day free trial, which I recommend since Scrivener can be a lot when you first try it and it takes some getting used to. A free alternative is Libre Open Office which is more like Word and Google Docs.
I’ve been very interested in psychology and self development for years. This has to be one of the best videos on self growth that’s I’ve ever seen on YT ❤
@@itszoewinter yess, it gets a lot of mixed or negative opinions but I think that’s mainly due to people not understanding it or those who come across the “insta poetry” more like quotes and statements
I hope you like this video✨ Just wanted to say, in this vid I use “level 1” examples for things to do to develop different qualities, but you’ll know your situation best- maybe you’re at “lvl 5 or 10” and you can then think of appropriate goals just the same. As long as it’s within your comfort zone but still pushing it, you can do these things until it becomes easy, that’s how you’ll know you’ve “leveled up”. If you are starting at 0, just know that that’s ok too! Just by doing these things, even if they seem small, is a win for you. Try not to compare yourself to others who may be at a different lvl in this area. Only by developing these qualities in yourself in this way, one bit at a time, will you be able to maintain it and integrate your shadow as well. And I promise it’s not as hard as fighting it- think it like a game and it can even be lots of fun😊 Let me know if this helps & if you have any questions, thank you for watching!
