This is a fantastic video! I watched a Make Noise video on the use of the Z channel and was confused enough to “put it aside for now.” This video gave me enough of an understanding to begin experimenting with it. Thank you.
I was watching your description of a clock signal as a square wave, my nerd meters pinging, sending me into "well, actually" mode. Then you finished the discussion by pointing out how the leading edge is what really matters, and systems returned to normal. ❤
RIght, Rene is experimental and Rene almost hopes your idea won't work, whatever it is. The truth is that Vector will do a million times more, but also everything Rene does. And an Oxy One can do 48 Rene style sequencers at one time.
Vector has seen several firmware improvements over the years, so if you absolutely must have an in-rack sequencer, then I think it should be on your short list. Erica's Black Sequencer has since come out, and while Vector still has more features, Black Sequencer is half the price and supports a similar feature set. If you're okay venturing outside of the rack, there have been quite a few top-shelf hardware sequencers released, such as the Squarp Hapax, and Oxi One.
Wonderful video! Just one little thing.... FAD is actually an inverted D minor chord, the ii chord in C. :) That said, you've taken a very deep and perplexing module and done a great job of making it make sense. Bravo!
Much better presentation than the two introductory videos, because pictures/sounds say more than 1000 words. Thank you. Emilie has done great things for the modular community!
Although I appreciate analytical videos about modules, I prefer them even more when they include sounds for each step explained, because music isn't just built from technological explanations.
ill probably 3d print the mounting brackets and make a small one, I have a mixer and instruments(drums), so i just want a few eurorack modules because my mixer is not a multichannel recorded with effects, so I want to insert some FX audio envelopes with euroracks to the bass and tom drums, maybe add some metal ringing and resonance to the snare, some high fidelity effects to the cymbals, maybe with some electronic flare idk yet but I want to build a little cab for my mixer to sit above it, and then below the mixer is a set of drawer slides with my Maschine MK3 and Elektron cycles.
im not even building a eurorack case(although probably will someday) im doing a different project (modding numark pt01) and this helped me on that project good stuff!
