Let HABITS be Thy MEDICINE. Hi, I am Dr Chan Tat Hon, a medical doctor from Singapore, I hope my videos would inspire you to take action to unlock the power of Habits for Health.
‘The Habits Doctor’ is my social media handle and nickname because of my work in activating people to unlock the power of habits to combat diabetes, cardiovascular disease & other lifestyle habits related chronic conditions. My medical practice is focused on coaching people jumpstart necessary habits changes for health, I also frequently conduct training programmes on the power of habits for health.
Many also know me as ‘What's Cooking Doc?’ because of my blog of the same name and my 5-year stint up till 2019 as a full-time chef in a restaurant that I started as a living classroom for people to explore new foods to improve their eating habits.
These videos are not and are not intended to be medical advice. I do not give individualized medical advice over the internet, see your physician for that.
Thank you Dr. Chan. I'm in Philippines for 1 month and all I see is white rice. When I move back to Thailand, I've been studying which is the healthiest rice I should buy. Every article I read kept putting brown rice #1. It was confusing, because looking at the nutrients of each, black rice looked like a better choice (antioxidants and lower fat). Maybe when I go to Makro in Thailand, it won't be a choice, but it's good to know what I should choose if I do have a choice. With that said, I'm curious about red rice and wild rice in comparison to black rice. I know wild rice isn't rice, but in some ways it looks healthier because it is lower in fats. (FYI, lowering fats has been my goal this year. Never cared about fats before, but realizing what a difference it makes.)
my mom has eaten brown rice her whole life and she doesn't have any problems in fact she is really healthy going for 10 mile bike rides every day at 87 years old and she always told me from the age of 6 that brown rice is a super power but prep it right for starch resistance.
So true I use to work at a rice factory, begin with the padi when that shell off that's call cargo (that's how it export to other countries) the cargo polish that's brown rice then it polish again that's the light brown rice then it polish again that's white rice. whole grain white rice, semi whole grain and broken white rice and that's has 2 types broken 1 and broken 2
It's common sense that you need to eat 'healthy' overall, along with having chia seeds for all the health benefits you receive from consuming them. Folks that are eating chia seeds as 'magic dust' are in denial.
as Tunisian couscous were there for thousands of years and we wil never changed with quinoa or any asian products who we do not know ND EVENTUALLY will not trust imported inlocal products plus being healthy means have balanced food and food are not healthy or not healthy the meditranean regime is the best do u have olive oil NO you have strange oils and food are a mix of alot of ingredients and the result must be healthy and also sports and activity saying healthy food is a fake marketing modern way of fooling people thansk we will never use ur products we may need ur technology but food holly no the best is the MEDITERANEAN REGIME BY FAR THE BEST
After a heart attack, I have been looking at foods that bring satiety without too many calories and that don't have other bad properties such as causing inflamation or sugar spikes. Brown rice has been my go to food. Black rice was a candidate but failed the taste test and was too gummy in texture. I have started boiling the rice in large amounts of water and pouring off the excess to reduce arsenic as Dr. Chan suggested
as a Tunisia aka Carthage the land of semolina and ex Rome basket food and from comes couscous the guy is selling you asian products who are not organic and we will never eat them becasue they fool people as per couscous search about the midetranean cuisine andcomparewho is healthy motor car grade oils used in asian cuisine or the king of all oils OLİVE OIL ...it ıs a whole cuisine and couscous is a part of it . asian rices made people diabetes they are played wit genetically all what asia produce of food is played with just to feed their billion of people in the meditranean sea we do not do that and keep it trraditional as were before thats why the best food is around the med sea
Thankful for this information it is the best wisdom and honest advice and understanding that I can put into my understanding on how to swim through the medical media
"..my exercise is different." Yes of course. Physical fitness starts with what you feed your body. Imagine as far back as you can in the evolution of the bodies of all flora and fauna. Imagine what they fed their bodies. Realize your body needs you as much as you need it. Symbiosis. The caveat is that your body relies on you to feed it what it needs. The body in and of itself soley has one primary and that is to keep itself alive and healthy and by proxy you. But you have to feed it what it needs. Fail in that and you fail the body and your body by proxy will fail you. Expectancy. Imagine that. It is said in the sciences that the lifespan of the human body exceeds 120 years. Yet the life expectancy is if far less. (Questions I'm sure.) And it is said in the sciences that the human is the only body of all the fauna in the kingdom that has a hard lifespan limit. But no other fauna has a hard limit? (More questions I'm sure.) Remember if it is survival of the fittest the physical fitness aspect of the fitness triune begins with what you feed the body. Survive. Imagine that. I am glad to see you causing such beautiful effect Dr Chan. Cause and effect. Imagine that. i.SuchChaoticButterflies. Causality. Imagine us.
