I'm just a guy that wants to do more projects. Unfortunately I do not have a dedicated shop and my garage must be able to park cars in it every night.

So I am going to be organizing the shop the best I can, building jigs to help with all my other projects that I need to do.

Not sure how often I'll be able to add to this channel, but I'll do my best to record all the work I do. Being a somewhat of a beginner, especially in woodworking I hope to show all of you that if I can to it, so can you. That's what BronkBuilt is all about.

You can also take a look at my website at www.bronkbuilt.com
I did not expect that!

Exactly! I try my best to not be a tool snob, or a vehicle snob. Actually, mini vans get a very bad rap. Compared to SUV's, they are less expensive in pretty much every way and I know people that have bought a minivan over a truck for the exact reason you bring up. I would bet that loading into the minivan is easier as well since it will be lower to the ground.

Just bought this to spray a new front door and WOW is all that I can say, worked fantastic. I own several HVLP (ones to spray automobiles) and an airless. Wife chose a very dark blue color and we decided to use SW Emerald Urethane trim that is thick! I originally was going to use my primer HVLP but would have thin past 10% to give the atomization that I wanted and lightened the blue so been wanting something like this to bridge the gap of my sprayers (airless creates way too much overspray). Sprayed the first coat straight out of the can, worked great but just made me nervous because I wasn't getting the spray conditions that make me happy even though it leveled off really nice. Additional coats I added less 5% water and wow just wow did this thing spray fantastic and leave an amazing finish! Best $79 I ever spent and going to spray my shutters next with it. Cleanup wasn’t that bad and if you are new to spraying buy extra paint and get ready to play with settings to get you your ideal condition, I Highly recommend this sprayer!

This is a great video, but I noticed several differences. I suspect both the helical head and the planer have been tweaked since you upgraded you machine. I'm writing this in 2024, and I bought my planer back in 2022. The first problem was that I could not remove the 2nd/larger pulley with the cutter head still mounted. I could not use the gear puller because there wasn't enough space behind the pulley to grip it. Without removing the larger pulley, I was still able to remove the lock mechanism and the plate from behind it. I ran into another problem removing the cutter head (more on that in a sec), but once it was out, then I could use the gear puller and I found freaking loctite around the pin! I recommend scraping it out before reinstalling. The second problem was one I saw mentioned in the comments here, which is that the locating pins are too long and the old cutter head won't fit through the housing. The steel the pin is made off was too hard for my hacksaw or files to cut. The only tool I found that worked was a dremel with an aluminum oxide grinder, but it worked very well. The last point I'd like to make is that the hollow dowel is a golden tool for this project. I cut holes in hardwood scraps and stacked them, but most of the split after a few whacks and they'd get caught up on different obstacles as the new cutter head gradually advanced. It got home eventually, but a good hollow dowel would've been a very elegant solution.

This is amazing. We are going to do this for next year. Where did you find the decorative pieces.? You mentioned that you cut them out with the razor blade but what template did you use? Also we can use electricity how would we make the candle with an electric light? This video is 5 years old so I hope that you are doing well and in good spirits and I hope that you still have Roxy.
@BronkBuilt
@BronkBuilt 7 месяцев назад
Thanks for watching and yes, we are all good and Roxy now has a step brother Roscoe. I recall I got the template from Michael's but not 100% sure. For electric lights I would do very much the same. I would look for 5 separate light cords, each with 1 bulb. If you can't find that, then look on my channel for the Christmas tree yard decoration video. In that one I show you how to make a light cord as long as you want and with as many bulbs as you want. I'd mount the bulbs the same and have the cord run down the inside of the pipe and out through a side of the stand. This is still used at the outside church each year.

So, you've put a diamond on a turd. 😂 it's a decent little planer. By the time you add this $500 upgrade, you're invested enough to buy a much better tool.
@BronkBuilt
@BronkBuilt 8 месяцев назад
That is not true at all. Before I made this investment I did A LOT of searching for a better planer with a helical cutter head and at that time there simply was not one that was even close to the same price of my planer + helical head. Closest I found was still about $550 more. Would it have been a better planer? Probably. We all have budgets we need to stick in and at the time this was in my budget. I even searched FB market plance and CL. This was several years ago so now it may not be the same situation as there may be a lot more planers that come with the helical head standard. I don't remember what I paid for the helical head, I may have mentioned it in the video, but honestly don't remember. I don't remember it was $500 but possibly was. I'm still using this diamond on a turd and for my use it works extremely well, even on curly maple.

@BronkBuilt No worries. I used a small bit on a Dremel, then bored it out to a snug fit and glued it on. It's drying now. This was actually better fit than a circular hole. I'll let you know tomorrow how it worked. Thanks again!
@blown22
@blown22 8 месяцев назад
@@BronkBuilt I placed the piece in there snug, and then the circuit board (but not the white pastic cover), then tested it. It seemed like it may have barely pushed the button on the circuit board (weak click) on the first push, but then it didn't make contact from the second push onward. So I popped the circuit board back off and the piece I had fashioned was pushed out of from the two gray plastic prongs instead of being flush/level like it had originally been. So now I need to ask you a few more questions: (1) Should I retry this, but also attach the white cover and 3 screws first - would that make any difference? (2) Do I need to actually glue the button to the inside of the cover? (3) Maybe a dumb question, but how thick was the paint stirring stick you used?. My wood piece looks to be 2 or maybe 3mm thick; a little thicker than 1/8", but thinner than 3/16". It looks pretty close to yours. Thanks for your continued help on this. I really do appreciate it.

@BronkBuilt
@BronkBuilt 5 месяцев назад
I've been out of RU-vid land for almost a year now as we have been building our new house. Well, we designed it and hired a builder to build it. We had them leave all built-in areas empty. Pantry, closets, etc. Even had them NOT install a mantel on the fireplace and a few other things. That and my day job took all my time. We moved in about a week ago and now I'm starting all my projects and bookcases/shelving units are on the list as well as many others. I did film a lot so hopefully I'll get time to edit things as I probably have enough for about 6-8 videos as well as all my new projects on my list. I did finish our powder room vanity and mirror. Did those in walnut. Not perfect but still love them. We are in GA and as of about 3 months ago our builder and I are no longer talking. Just turned out, in my opinion, to not be very customer focused and would not take responsibility for anything. Happy he is out of the picture now.

No worries regarding those "get a real truck" commenters. My Canyon is most certainly a real truck, but one that is easy to park in a normal-sized spot and doesn't require a step stool to enter.
