Solar By Green Greg, I educate homeowners about Home solar PV panels & batteries, Solar Pool Heating, and Energy efficiency. I help homeowners lower electric bills! Save money and save the planet! The Videos include product reviews, product comparisons, basic troubleshooting, solar maintenance, and expert advice. For example, recently did a video comparing Tesla Powerwall Vs other home solar batteries, solar panels remove & replace costs and ROI, solar edge inverter reset, etc . Solar panels for pool heating.. how it works, temperature, cost, etc. Energy Efficiency: I reviewed & discussed the setup of Pentair SuperFlow Variable speed pool pumps. Will be doing more energy saving product reviews soon. Thanks for watching.

Great video! Thanks. Just had my old pump replaced. I have 11k gallons pool with solar heat. What do you suggest my setting for 1,2,3? Like to run 10 hrs in summer, in Las Vegas heat! And what about winter? Thanks in advance for your suggestions!
What lights are you seeing ? If not solid green then something wrong … if flashing green might be a wiring problem .. if no lights make sure all breakers and switches on If still no lights inverter may have had power surge and need replacement
3-4 thousand dollars to remove and reinstall the stupid panels!?!?! The company that installed my panels want 16,000$ to remove and reinstall these dumb panels!?!?
From San Jose, just got my solar panels up and running after nearly 4 years of delays. I set my battery to run during our peak hours with MySolarEdge app, but it didn’t use the battery, I’m a bit confused. Thank you for your videos.

We had a 12.5 kWh PV system installed last fall using Enphase IQ8A M-Inverters feeding a 4C Combiner box (Celluar and Wi-Fi Envoy). Our system was scaled to cover 125% of our average annual usage - the maximum our utility would allow. We now want to add ESS, I like the scalability of the 5P. We have a newer high efficient 1700 sq ft villa (built in 2019 with a 3-ton Lennox AC). Will 3 5P's provide "whole house" backup? Would a "soft-start" device improve things? And I love the app.
1) Solar panels are not nailed to roof 2) a proper installation includes a metal flashing with raised hole, stainless steal lag bolt and high quality roof cement. The flashings are simular to flashngs around roof vents .. 3) Many leaks are caused by DIY homeowners who try to save money by cutting corners ie not using roof flashings..see this video on solar inspection . ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-05FfVb6jw8E.html
Thanks a lot for the tips. Your video is way clearer than the Sunrun instructions. Interestingly enough, Sunrun did not even notified us that the system was not producing for at least 5 days. It wasn't until a power outage in the area that we were able to tell there was an issue since the backup batter didn't kick in. We were able to get the backup system restarted with your procedure.
Every pool is different size and weather ... In FL for 9-2k gallons 2200-3250 speed and 6-8 hrs run time ... smaller pools less speed and run time .. you will need to look at pool if its still dirty increase speed and/or run time
Quick update: 1) PW 3 recent Tesla update allows AC Coupling as of May 2024 2) Video was done pre-release PW 3 Specs have been updated-see tesla spec sheet.
Yes you have to press each speed number to check schedule Only start time and duration is set … When you set speed #1. You enter start time Let’s say 9am start Duration 2 hours -so speed 1 stops 11am Speed 2 and. 3 you only set duration …. So speed. #1 stops 11 am speed #2 you set say 6 hours, Pump stops at 6 hrs from 11am If you don’t set speed #3 If you set speed 3 it stares after speed 2 Thanks for watching
Sounds like big solar black financial hole unless the owner pays upfront cash for the solar panels. Corporations made getting electricity complex to force the home owner to pay through the nose for solar panels.
Yes paying cash or at least getting own financing at a credit union is best . Yes I agree the Fossile fuel and utility companies have made it difficult and expensive to go solar … The laws and regulations were designed for utility monopoly and fossil fuel industries … but we are making. Progress on changes … but of course utilities abd fossils industry trying to stop us. Thanks for watching!
We need a very big, ugly, heavy, safe, long lasting and inexpensive home batteries made of commonly available materials . A 50 kWh battery for less than $10,000 would store enough solar power to run the average home throughout the year. I’m in California where I’m paying $0.41 per kWh off peak. In the late afternoon and early evening on “smart event days”, I’m paying several times that. And, the prices we pay will only go up and up in the near future. The Chinese are selling whole cars with four times the energy storage of pitifully small and weak Powerwalls. Someone, please make us a big, ugly, heavy, safe and inexpensive battery! You will get rich and you will disrupt the entire electricity industry
Mine won't re-enable but it has a green light. When I hold enter to re-enable it just says "solartouch v2.3" then goes back to the main menu and won't re-enable. The target temp is like 80 and the pool temp is like 96, way too hot. The water coming out of the waterfall is hot but I disabled the heater.
@@solarbygreengreg by turning the heating on will it kick on the cooling as well do you think? One thing I did notice, on the actuator the switch was set to 'ON2' and the actuator was pointing to the right side. When I set it to 'ON1' the actuator went to pointing to the left side. My actuator is on the side of the house with the pipes running up to the solar panels or down toward the pool pump.
@@rickyray2794 Solar Touch can be set to heating OR Coolling so when want to cool pool will need to go in advanced menu and turn on cooling .. and run pump at night to cool pool. The actuator switch position depends on if your return is on left or right side see my other video that explains valve position ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-tbieu_yptu4.html
You can use these off grid but mainly designed for a modern home … but there maybe Better ones for off grid … off grid is usually a lot lower electric use … for example a small cabin Not using hvac would be lot lower electric use … could use a smaller battery and inverter
@@solarbygreengreg thanks a piece of land I was looking at buying electricity is kinda far and curious because this maybe a cheaper option and I would want this even if I had power from the grid
I like your video but in PA I make more in the hot months LOL July and August the best so far. I’m hoping to get the CT clamps installed for the import/export data.
Hi Greg, I am the Sales Director of Fortress Power, would you be interested in reviewing and testing our differentiated whole home energy solutions that have built in load shedding and EV charger integration?
hello greg thank you for your video! i have downloaded the latest version of mysolaredge app and on the bottom i only have the 'fuel gauge' icon and the 'map pin' icon. I dont have any other icons like you do. Why is this? Especially the one with all the panels i would like to see.
Hi from Illinois, we are talking to a rep from Powur, we were thinking of the "lease to own" option. It is 25 yrs . It with sunnova. I'm hearing mixed reviews. We are getting the battery back up. We cannot afford to buy at this time and the extra incentives for solar end this year in Illinois. That why we are thinking of yhe lease option. Yes the lease is transferable but sounds like it can be difficult if you need to sell you home. What are your thoughts? I appreciate your advise!
Are you going to be in home next 25 yrs? --or close to it? If not it can be difficult to sell a home with a lease ... buyers don't understand lease and don't want to take it over ... home seller ends up prepaying remaing term of lease.. Leases will often say you can buy out the solar at "fair market value" but how is that determined? Lease Co keeps tax credits and solar incentives.. I recommend doing a credit union loan or Heloc ... Yes interest rate will be high.. and payments maybe higher vs electric co but you can refinance later when interest rates go down... and you will save $10'000's ... by doing own financing you can save $10k-+ on front end and in long run will save most money and YOU GET TAX Credit and incentives not the lease co. Other issue is lease co will get cheapest equipment to increase profit... this lower cost equipment maybe limited features and shorter warranties .. more service calls .. here is video solar loan vs lease etc. ...ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-rjxCOy2RpBM.html. Hope this helps ..
I have a pool in Oregon with a shaded corner to retreat from the sun... I have a pool in the Philippines and the entire pool must be completely shaded in order to lower the temp even just a few degrees
Not to toot my own horn or anything, but how did you avoid talking about service for all of these manufacturers? Have you tried calling enphase/tesla service lines? Enjoy your 30-60+ minute wait to speak to someone. FranklinWH's average wait time for service is less than 2 minutes (all of 2024 so far, I can share the data with you). I also agree with EVERYTHING said by @texasie8015. There's some other inaccuracies on the FranklinWH product as well. I'll let some of my colleagues chime in here.
Just a few inaccuracies to clarify from FranklinWH side. - Franklin does have PCS controls - Franklin can be wall mounted and is the preferred method of install
I educate homeowners without click bait or sales talk. No bias towards one particular brand .... depending on the home, net metering, kWh usage, budget, etc The best option is different for different homeowners. You can't say Tesla/Enphase ... these are different independent companies that are not affiliated. My video is about comparing the specs and features ... However, I have contacted Enphase and they have been excellent ... Sometimes you can get quicker service if you use the Chat support so try that if long telephone wait .. or you can use the call back feature ... Only have had a few problems with Enphase ie a failed micro inverter and they have been quick to replace ..about 1 week ... Tesla I heard from homeowners about non-responsive service from Tesla ... so I suggest getting Powerwalls through a local solar company instead of Tesla direct. Franklin is a good company as well which is why I included then in this video comparision ... Thanks for watching.
After I did the video it seams other companies added PCS ... Noted that Franlklin can be wall mount .. however it's 400lbs this is HEAVY for a wall mount... Ok if have masonary wall .. but not something I would mount to drywall that is in most garages.. Thanks
Pleaee listen I did not say smaller is better … simply that having smaller building blocks is more scalable you can right size the system better … for example if you want 20kWH of capacity with other options you would have to buy 2x 13.5kwh = 27 kWh. Vs enphase you can. Get 4@ 5kWH = 20 kWh This is not commercial for enphase as I said several times in video there is no one size / one brand for everyone … there are certain reasons why someone may get other brands … and this is why I’m listing comparisons for each option and same in conclusion … really I think all this brands are a good option .. just depends on features , budget , and job site conditions ie kWh usage , net metering etc Thanks for watching
@solarbygreengreg don't worry I got you 1:59 Let's be honest. When someone switches to solar energy, having the ability to store that energy with a larger battery is always a good bet. Unfortunately, none of these options offer a good return on investment (ROI) in my opinion because they are way too expensive and Enphase is the worst of them.
@@passerau In my state, the ROI is better with batteries than without batteries so it's constantly changing. And the proposal I saw had enphase batteries and if you get a powerwall 3 for example, the ROI would be even better. It all depends on the incentives and net metering policies you have in your area.
String inverter no cannot ... would have to go on roof and check solar panel with meter... Micro Inverters like Enphase and optimizer w/ string inverter like Solar EDge have individual panel monitoring and you can see individual solar panel production.
Watching from Hudson Valley, NY. My SolarEdge app doesn't show the per-panel view, which I thought was interesting. Also I've noticed a difference between the production numbers I see in the mobile app vs. what I see in the website view. My installer says a firmware upgrade is coming to my inverters imminently, but I thought you'd have an opinion.
The per panel view and roof layout this needs setup in app by installer .. I would requesty access to this . Not sure why difference in production mobile vs Solar edge website maybe there is a delay pushing the data .
Thanks for this detailed review and your comments .. i think enphase has the best product .. lets face it you are going to be living with your choice for a long time .. enphase is the best to live with .. in terms of longest warranty . One app does it all , and biggest versatility …
