They don’t get used often. I use one for a rulebook to sit on the shield apron (short end), if I played dnd they’d get used more for sure but for board games if on a budget I could get by with 2 or less depending on the games played. Im still not going to sell what I have because things could change over time with new games or other uses I haven’t had come up. Probably could go entirely without them on the wider table though reaching middle would be a new problem for shorter people.
@@ThePercOfGaming thanks for the reply. I went ahead and ordered them, I can see the problems they can create, but better to have them and not need them, then to wish I had something to write on. I have heard complaints of knocking them over when one gets excited. For a DND game I agree they are a must. I wish I would have gotten the longer table…
i have some cup holders that might wiggle a little too much when inserted into the rail, and i see yours doesnt wiggle as much. not sure if the wiggle room is intentional?
I always planned on it and never got around to it. With Wyrmwood now looking to release their own I likely won’t get around it it since I plan to replace them. The design involved a metal flat rail, piece of solid wood (I used maple and stained it), and wood glue. I cut a slot with my router that was pressure fit tight and just glued it in. I used a keyhole plunge router bit to flush mount into the wall. One design flaw is they can domino each other due to not having horizontal pressure to hold them in place. This is one thing I should have corrected long ago and didnt due to time which resulted in a few accidents with my toppers having a few extra scratches.
Hi would be nice to hear from someone who has had this table for while. Are you still happy with the size of the table? Im having a hard time of deciding if I should go up a size or of this is the perfect compromise. What Im afraid of is that a large table might feel to deep with any smaller games and with 2p games, that ppl will have to get up to reach into the middle of the vault or having to go around the table to see some game elements properly. I also prefer being closer to people on the opposite side. But Im also afraid that the medium table vault will feel to small and not practical over time. Whats your experience?
Thanks for watching! No end caps and haven’t felt the need for them. Use them largely for putting out snacks when gaming but have used them for a few games as a personal tray to hold components. Glad I got them and might one day pick up 1-2 more but as of now am content with 2 for gaming with 2-4 people regularly.

Do you know if there is any information on how much weight it takes before the hobby shelf breaks? When you have it on the outside of the table, it looks like it would be susceptible to someone leaning it by accident and snapping it.
No information is available that I’m aware of with an actual number and I agree that is a possible concern depending on your group. I would not advise letting anybody do it for the sake of consistency and ease of expectations to avoid damage because they are absolutely not made for that level of force on them. Shouldn’t be an issue for any normal item, though between food gaming components, or even a laptop/tablet/phone resting on there but absolutely no leaning would be advised.
Yes it is walnut. You will find the beauty and curse of walnut is the wide variation of color. That said, the standard brown color of walnut isn’t super light like maple or new cherry. Nor is it dark like espresso or wenge. It is that middle tone between both extremes.
Just got mine. Same problem. It sucks. Stupid design flaws that you can't see the lights, no box insert whatsoever from Wyrmwood, super touchy....surely a better pack could have been found.
@@ThePercOfGaming I just keep it plugged in and attached to the table, and use it as an overnight charger, and during the day as a place to put the phone. Certainly not something to use where you can pick up the phone and put it back down, and it will work seamlessly. It's a shame. I assume another problem is that there is a tiny gap between the leather and the charger. A better pack could have likely solved the issue. If we look @ Anker charging pads, they work very well. But then again, it is likely very difficult to source what is needed to make it work well. In that case, it's a product that should have been pulled. Great wood products.....maybe Wyrmwood should stick to what they do well...
Bro… why didn’t they make the player decks as part of the table in the first place, drinks over the game board, losing 4 inches around the whole playing area for more space for the players to have space for a computer? Not a bad setup but lots of things that would make me personally frustrated with using this setup.
I personally have the leather still unglued so that I can use it without the leather when charging. Not pretty but it works. I only use the leather when I’m using it as a ledge to put other things on (iPad with stand up, to hold a bowl of snacks, etc.). I’ve kept it largely because the wireless charger has proven useful on the road even to take out and just use when traveling.

Hi how scratch resistant / deep is the staining on your espresso maple products from wyrm wood , if you’re not sure maybe try testing on the bottom of one btw accessories ?
I only have one espresso maple product and don’t plan to scratch it for a test. That said I’ve seen a lot of pictures from other individuals who have scratches on their espresso products and the stain isn’t super deep. Lots of individuals have scratched below the drain resulting in light wood coming through.
Have you ever tried to slide the game deck on a neoprene mat? Actually, wondering if you think the new hobby vault will be to heavy for use on the neoprene mats they are offering?
I have not but those that have done it said it will indent but springs back over time. Since wyrmwood is selling a neoprene I’d hope they have considered this or are willing to warranty it to a degree.
Hello, I’m debating heavily between black walnut, and padauk. I would for sure pick padauk but I’m worried about the aging color. Do you by chance have a idea how many years before it changes? Also is it a dull brown when it’s fully aged or more of a dark red? Thanks a lot.
Lot depends how much natural light it gets. If it will be in shade you should be good for a very long time (10+ years). If you’re going to have it I’m direct light daily it will be under that. I don’t have a solid answer beyond that so would advise caution if it’s in sunlight daily. It looks more brown than red when at its greatest change. Black walnut is beautiful but less uniform so you have to be ok with the character that comes with this choice (even more so with rustic walnut). Padauk will be a statement piece for sure but pictures of all padauk tables I’ve seen are striking. Just be ready to educate everybody who sees it that it isn’t stained. I get that all the time with my padauk and purpleheart items I own. Good luck and hope this helps!
I guess “Tavern Elm” is different than the “Elm” they’re offering this time. Unfortunately that looks like a better match for my existing furniture than either the Black Walnut or the Elm. 😢
Tavern elm is elm stained. I was not impressed with it though appreciate how it could match most furniture in that golden color more than most other options. I do think cherry aged would be close though to what Tavern Elm is with less character in the grain.

I think we may consider the cherry option since a lot of our furniture has that slightly reddish tone. The aged Cherry I’ve been seeing does look decently close. It’s such a hard call to make!
Would dry erase be easier or harder to remove than the wet erase on the battle mats? I’ve never used a battle mat before, but they look so nice I would like to eventually get one to fit my table whenever it comes (around November 2023).
Since you’re binging all the videos (thanks by the way!) I’d recommend checking out the dry erase test videos which should help answer this. They go more in depth on different ways to eraser as well.
Your videos are so amazingly helpful. I just keep watching and sending links to my wife. We have a 6 month old who will be a little over a year by the time we should expect our table (assuming there aren’t insane delays) so the comment on the Capri-sun drinks is appreciated lol

We’re just not sure about getting the player desk things. We’re wondering if we can get by without or if we would potentially have people damaging the table by writing on it with a pen on paper. I might be able to put together a video for this in the near future…since they keep adding new items with each wyrmlife video and update I might have to wait to see the final list otherwise I’ll look to do two videos. I am in the first wave of accessories only so should be able to put a video together pretty quickly after receipt as well with items in hand. Won’t have all due to cost but looking to get many.
Great videos - thank you! Your magnetic accessory storage wall hanging boards shown at 2:41 and 3:07 are a brilliant and elegant solution!! HOW DID YOU ATTACH THEM TO THE WALL? I'm a bit stuck on how you made the fasteners unseen, *and* made the boards flush to the wall, *and* adequately accounted for the forces in two axes (gravity, and pulling the magnets off the board toward you). Protruding screws from the wall and keyhole slots in the boards? Screwed into the wall under the metal strips? Any advice you could give would be GREATLY appreciated, and thank you in advance!
Sorry for the slow response I somehow missed this post. To answer your question you are correct they are keyhole slotted with screws in the wall. My only change id make is having small pieces of wood added throughout the wall to pinch the accessories in place similar to how the table works. While the magnets are strong and don’t fall they have on a few occasions fallen downward due to weight (wireless charger and cup holders in particular), or when pulling outward accidentally bumping other accessories. This results in a domino effect where all of the accessories cascade and sometimes fall. While it is a clean aesthetic I hate worrying about something getting damaged so would make this change and plan to at some point hopefully this summer. Hope this helps!
Question, is the table accessible from a sitting position with the player desks installed, or are players standing up to reach over the desk and work on the table? If you had players spaced out more (IE. 1 player per side, or the hobby vault wasn't there) would the table be accessible while sitting then (assuming it wasn't before)?
Not really accessible while sitting so yes you have to stand. Moving the desk to the side of you is ideal if reaching in vault is required a lot so yes 1 player per side helps. Hobby vault isn’t the same issue since it’s elevated.
Would these games fit on a small table? Do you find that the desks help conserve space for the vault (not so many pieces or cards in the vault) I'm getting a small table. Debating player desk vs hobby shelf
The only game that might not fit is scythe with the big board but the standard shouldn’t be a problem. The desks are nice for when you need extra space but are hard to reach around. I’m not sure how practical the hobby trays will be since I haven’t seen or used them but plan to try them out and am in wave one for accessories. I’ll post a video once they arrive. Sorry I don’t have a more conclusive opinion yet
@@brentonbr13 if you’re not using all the expansions at once you should be fine because they all don’t fit in the standard width vault. (Shy of one or two inches)
That’s a really tough question…I personally love the way Padauk has such a distinct color as it makes a great conversation piece (most people think it is a stain) so I’d likely say Padauk. Only downside is the way it ages will take away some of the uniqueness of it but that depends on the light exposure. That said, wenge or maple both contrast really nicely. I’m not a fan of maple as I feel it looks cheap (like pine) so I’d say wenge as a close second because of the complimentary darker color. With ebony being available for a limited time I’d also be very curious how that wood looks although it will be super expensive.
For pint the small is best. The large allows for some wobble inside that’s not ideal. Although it works with both if you need to save money and buy just large. For what it’s worth we tend to use large more than small in our group.
Just backed mgt 2.0, my table will come with 1 large and 1 small as a promotion. I may order another small and another large. Usually just my brother and I playing games and we drink pints and an old fashioned

Kgood question! Only one time have I ever wished for a wider table and that was when I tried setting up all of everdell expansions and was one or two inches shy of space. That said I have desks and game deck that I’ve used to make games fit. If you don’t plan to buy accessories to create space the wider table might be worthwhile. I’d also worry about smaller games on a wider table (code names, slap games, poker, etc.)

@@stevenpeterson580 I have used it and when you max out your town you use the full desk space edge to edge. The leather has a little lip which can be slightly annoying if tucking cards but it works well otherwise. Playing in the vault works too but takes a decent amount of vault space which depending on player count could be a problem. I prefer the desk my wife prefers the vault because the desk is hard to reach around into the vault (she’s 5’2” I’m 5’10” for perspective)
Been researching for the new Kickstarter like crazy and this video has been super helpful! It was especially nice to get an idea of how my Padauk dice tray/GM Screen would contrast with a Walnut table.
Under the two end toppers there are little black feet stoppers to prevent them from shifting. This is why the whole topper really should be on when using the. There are two per end topper (one in each corner of the vault). This is also why the game deck can’t be under them when stored under the tiller. It only impacts a few inches though.
I’m puzzled by the horrible grain match in the game deck boards. If Wyrmwood is going to insist on not allowing stains - then they really should do a proper job at matching grain in the large surface wood areas such as this , applying a veneer larger to the boards pre glue up if that is what it takes. That grain pattern variance is not at all appealing. .
I completely understand where you’re coming from with this comment and have seen several posted in the MGT discord I would be upset with. That said I am glad it isn’t a veneer and like the solid wood construction but I do agree more time could be spent pairing boards to match on surface faces such as this. Here’s to hoping going forward they do that since I know early on it could have been due to them playing catch up since they were so far behind.
