I got a late falcon and I heard that overheating is usually the cause of rrod. I want to keep my 360 as long as possible, should I replace the thermal paste for future-proofing? It has never been replaced and it’s 16 years old.
That is nonsense. Overheating had nothing to do with it. If your system is a late Falcon, it should have a reliable GPU which is reliable like Jasper. If it is early, then replacing paste and such won't help. If everything is still working, then leave it alone.
There were 0 overheating issues on the Xbox 360. If it overheats, it shuts off long before damage can occur. Video on my channel about it called What happens if the Xbox 360 heatsink is removed? The heatsinks were changed for unrelated reasons.
I bought a bunch of Xbox's and unfortunately one of theses had a bolt mod installed. At first, it was RROD before I took it apart. After that, I dunno what exactly I did, but it boots up now. I don't even know how long this poor thing has left in the world and I know if I took the bolt mod off, it'd probably stop working.

Idk if you still check comments here, but at 0:44 I’m having problems. Mine has a silver rim and is having difficulty popping up and out. Idk if I’m supposed wedge between the rim and plastic or something else
Look inside with a flashlight, you will see there are tabs you need to lift with the tool. Do not wedge it between the rim and plastic. Lift the clips and pull the piece away.
Here in 2024 with a report of success. I had one resistor fail at 5 ohms and the other at 81 ohms. A quick couple of jumpers and the console is working as it should. I can call this the first time that I have seen this mode of failure. Thanks so much!
It doesn't work though. Maybe you got lucky. X-clamp set up does not cause RROD. Maybe your RROD was a false one. 99.9% of bolt modded consoles fail again.
I’m having trouble with getting the tabs off without breaking them. I keep rewatching your video but I’m not sure what I’m missing when trying to pry off the big plastics
I hate consoles that use an IHS... only causes trouble and will cause a lot more trouble ten years in the future. Thank you for this guide! I'm glad my 360 slims still run fine, though who knows how long.
Only if the driver installer produces exactly that error "not supported on this OS". And even then, only if it's just a softblock and the drive really does work.
@@Josh.Davidson ok, I just have xenon on Blades Dash and like any other consoles on xenon, I started to get error 0102 (sometimes 0103). but mine has one feature, when the console freezes, it does not have any image distortions. p.s. I have already taken the console to two services, both said that there are no parts for xenon mobo
@Josh.Davidson nand are not the same 1. I also messed up on the very last part disconnecting pico and starting xbox. I tried installing original nand and failed. Tried to install donor nand failed
@@baperacks-com6801 NAND's not being the same *is* due to the soldering being bad most of the time. I say most of the time, because it can also be your Pico (tends to happen with the knockoffs mainly), but it's almost always just the soldering making a bad connection that causes this.

I inadvertently found this out myself last night: I was replacing a PLCC chip on a board and went to clean the surface with a swab while the solder was still hot enough to be molten.
Hi Josh, sorry to keep bothering you, yet here I am. I have a blades xenon running 6717 factory Y1 gpu. I was wondering how simple would it be to swap the gpu out. Would it be easiest if I got an elpis gpu from a repaired xenon and just swapped the eplis gpu onto my blades xenon? or can I just swap any gpu from a falcon or jasper without needing any extra work? Thanks as always
The problem is no one including this video explains this very well every one says to just do this and not telling you how far to go in how much pressure to push them people try it get frustrated and tend to say f it I'm braking it.
XDKs themselves are quite common. These early XeDKs less so. I feel very lucky to have it. But it only works because I repaired it. You can see my recent video.

Strange that died cpu, not gpu ... But in general, I advise you to change the GPU radiator to a version with a thermal tube from older models and put a small fan on the extension of the thermal tube, otherwise it looks like there are 90nm GPU, and they are all on the brink of death
DD1 CPUs are have dodgy AVDD screens and have issues with the Glitchless Mux. This is what caused this issue, not gradual failure. There is no reason to change the heatsink, this will not affect longevity or temperatures - only fan speed. Besides, this is a prototype, which runs the fans at 100% all the time and as such, there is absolutely 0 impact of changing the heatsink.
