I may have gotten it wrong on the video, it might actually be a 30mm. I just did another pump last week and went to grab my 33mm and I believe I ended up using a 30mm
Yeah it’s hard to trust sellers. Its best to try and do as much of the work yourself as possible. I got my engine as a short block and i assembled myself.
Hello, what is the likelihood that you drive the gear into the front cover if you don't get the pump lined up perfectly when you reinstall? We just had one done in a shop and the front cover is leaking even though they never took the front cover off.
It would be hard to do, but Ive never abused an install before to know if it’s even possible, im actually about to do another one. It’s possible that it’s just a coincidence.
Good clean work bro. I can tell you take pride in your work. Did you get a chance to do any other repairs to the truck since posting the video? What are the drag times looking like? I got the same truck.
I only have two , I have a small one car garage that’s why, mabe I should get more but those lights are pretty good and lights up a good amount of space
Yeah 😂, my tuner currently has it set a little on the rich side until i can make a test pass at the track to get WOT data. It’s currently only street tuned.
It was an option but I wanted to experiment with this manifold first and see how it fits and performs. I actually have the drivers side hooker manifold and crossover on this setup.
Thanks for the updates on this. I’ve been looking at this manifold, I wanted to go with the hooker but supposedly that thing fits like shit hits the motor mounts on a lot of cars at least gbodys and a body’s that I know of. This one looks like it fits decent. I wanna run a rear crossover so this really looks like my only option.
Thank you for taking the time to make this video! Your Car looks pretty awesome too. There is alot of room in that engine compartment for a nice 80+mm turbo and an intercooler. Your LS will love it. Keep making videos just like this one it was great.
I am in the middle of doing this job. I got lucky the engine stopped exactly on number 1 TDC. Engine is in a transit bus. I have no room for a large prybar, so I ended up ordering that tool to pull drive gear. Thanks for the info. I’m glad to see the gear does not skip time. I was a bit worried about that.
Book time, Im not to sure. For me a couple hours nothing crazy. Just take your time. Now if you’re doing it on a RV it might take longer because of the limited space.
Per VS racing they say 1150HP max at the flywheel. I’ve seen some get 900 rwhp with the right race type fuel. On pump gas somewhere around 650-750 rwhp depending on tuning and rest of combo. I’ll update and report back when I get it done with some track results 🤞🏼
Probably, but the crossover tube and my cold side are temporary until the car is dialed in. Once the tune is on point, I’ll drive it to someone who can redo some stuff. For now it’ll have to get me by.
I have yet to make a hard turn on the throttle in this car. It’s not built or setup for hugging curves. BUT I have considered plugging the wastegate locations on the turbo manifold and having the wastegate mounted to the turbo housing. Which can address any control arm issues.

I don’t think so, I will actually be posting an update soon addressing the spark plug wires and clearances soon. I’ll try to be detailed to hopefully give you a better idea.
I like your project. If you find your having too many complications with the fit up for that particular manifold, you might wanna look at one called trick. it’s always good to have options even if you have to sell the ones that you have
I did consider the Trick manifold option, specifically the one with the welded v band flange. Main reason I tired the Summit manifold first was because they are local to me and if the fit was horrible right off the top I could’ve returned it. Now ima see what kinda results I get and share them for anyone who is curious.
Yes on this design you do. Only way around it would be to block off both and get a wastegate welded on the turbo housing. But it would have to be an open turbo and not divided like my VS racing 7875.
Nah not really. They had the cam I wanted (BTR Stage 4 cam) in stock right there on the spot for me to buy (merchandise tent during RaceWeek). But after talking about my needs, goals and current engine combination, as weird as it may sound the BTR stage 2 twin turbo was the best option. It would have the best street manners for Drag & Drive events and faster spooling at the track.
just make sure every tclamp is bolt after the bead on the tubing and you are golden. wont have issues. you can make your own beads at home with a beadroller tool.
Shit that’s a lot of couplers. I have several on my turbo civic but I’m picking up tig so I can re do my setup. Shits expensive if you have a shop do it.
Hell yeah it is, only reason why I decided to not have it welded for now, was to use that money towards finishing it first. Then come back and redo it by having it TIG by someone locally. Owning a TIG is a goal/ investment for a gear head!
