Lucille Ball was, by all accounts (including her own) a heartbroken woman who took her success and the production of her landmark show(s) VERY seriously. The “Lucy” we all love as a character was just that-a character. That’s a testament to Lucille Ball’s ability to “bring it” as a comedic actress. Amazing gift. She struggled like hell and failed to make it at MGM and then hit huge on TV. She was a pain in the butt, but she was a producer. The buck stopped with her. She admitted to others that she was not a barrel of laughs in “real life” because “real life” was unkind to her. She was a businesswoman. In the case of Liz Taylor and Burton, they were reputedly drunk and unprofessional on Lucy’s set. Lucy didn’t put up with that crap. She had a commitment to the network and her team. I heard that she took Barbara Eden under her wing and love that story. I have a silly hunch that Lucy MIGHT have caught Barbara slapping the shit out of Desi as he tried to make a pass at her and Lucy respected her for it forever. Lucy also loved Judy Garland, MGM’s troubled superstar/genius and box office powerhouse. Perhaps she saw in Garland a fellow woman who had been mistreated and run through the industry gauntlet, yet who always brought magic to the screen. Whatever the case, Lucy was a complicated woman. She wanted to get her shows done on time, within budget, and with no nonsense … despite the nonsensical scripts. I don’t think she was a mean person. I think she took her work seriously and was bitter because Hollywood men used and abused her: Desi Arnaz being exhibit A. She was a pioneer of her medium.
Taylor doesn't say what a big financial burden both the burtons put on Lucy ,with their extravagant demands ( separate bungalows for both in top hotels ,separate limousine) and the millions of insurance for the ring plus their exorbitant fees and Burton's insistence of hiring his men for the show, when Gary generously offered to take him shopping the greedy man bought 12 sweaters in different colors Richard Burton had himself approached Lucy to be on her show ,and Lucy was never overawed by any celebrity ,when she found Burton doing his own thing she pulled him up. And did anyone like Elizabeth's performance as opposed to Lucy's? I never knew she had such a whiny voice I think they were the winners ,winning applase for the performances elicited from them from the meticulous Lucy in a record of ordinary careers And did Elizabeth remember the days when Lucy was the bigger celebrity and she was a struggling starlet I saw a pic of both Lucy and Desi on the top their car with a tiny Elizabeth looking up to them from the ground ( they didn't even bother to come down for her because the motherly Lucy always treated these child stars like kids) I dont

I loved loved loved loved watching him conduct. So passionate. So generous. I’m grateful to my parents for having his music on constantly when I was a child. I was 13 when LH was out. I loved it then and love it now. The critics never swayed me. I know it’s not perfect. I love it for what it is. And isn’t.
I find her confidence and forthright demean refreshing. She's telling it like it is, no sugar coating. The prosecution should have put her on the stand (not that it would have changed the outcome). The jury applied reverse racism, and felt justified doing so. Nothing was going to change their minds.
I don't know why they didn't make a great location hunting/fishing/hiking show for her like Margaux and The Great Outdoors. Explore the Great Pyramid of Gaza with Margaux - that would've worked I think, that's what she did and who she was not just what she looked like - that, in the end, was the problem all they cared about was making her glamorous and thought her ruggedness was a cute feature - it was who she was and what she lived for not makeup hair and designer clothes

I sat behind Lucy in a Hollywood restaurant called The Rose Tattoo. I was SHOCKED at the way she spoke to the waiter and the other staff members. I was truly embarrassed for her.
My wife can say what she was...I'm a guy so I can't but it begins with a G. I am 100% on Burton's side in this one. Lucy was mean, and by this point in time no longer funny. Also could they have picked a worse sweater for him? Powder blue grampa sweater? Who thought that up? At least later he's in a suit. Burton and Taylor seem very uncomfortable. The lines are awful, and they did the best with what they were given because they were pros. Burton does do something however very interesting at the end of that episode. He has to kiss "Lucy" on the cheek, who melts because Richard Burton just kissed her. He leans in and kisses her cheek a 2nd time, in a very tender way, as though he wanted to kiss "Lucy the American Icon" for American viewers, and put Lucille Ball the autocrat out of his mind. It's very effective. He was after all Richars Burton. Brilliant actor, underrated these days. Liz was decent in this, gorgeous of course and seemly in decent health.
Met a taxi driver who picked her up at the Stuttgart Airport. She was with a woman friend. Taylor seemed very nice so the Taxi driver started asking her about her films. He had seen all of them. He listened intently to what she had to say. It took a half hour to get to the destination. She left him with the biggest tip he had ever gotten.

In his suicide letter, OJ clearly states he had nothing to do with Nicole’s murder, but apologizes for Ron Goldman’s murder In OJ’s suicide note he starts by saying. ‘To Whom It May Concern. First, everyone understand. I have nothing to do with Nicole's murder. I loved her; always have and always will. If we had a problem, it's because I loved her so much.’ Notice how he only mentions Nicole and not Ron Goldman who was also dead and whose murder he was also accused of. Later in the letter he apologizes to the Goldman’s. ‘I'm sorry for the Goldman family. I know how much it hurts.’ Why does he have to apologize to the Goldman family? He didn’t know their son and he has no reason to say sorry. At the very least he can give them peace of mind and say he had nothing or knows nothing about Ron’s murder. Notice how he never states ‘I had nothing to do with Ron’s murder’. That is important because I believe he was present and he assisted in holding Ron Goldman back from behind as Jason stabbed him. Dr. Henry Lee who worked for the defense told Jim Clemente that Ron Goldman stab wounds on his jeans and shoes also shoe he was elevated from behind as he was being stabbed Dr. Henry Lee told Jim Clemente a former FBI profiler that the knife marks on Ron Goldman’s Shoes and jeans were indicative of someone holding him up from behind and his feet were off the ground. OJ wrapped his arm around Ron and held him up from behind while Jason was stabbing and Ron was trying to kick out. Fibre Evidence against OJ We can talk about the blood being compromised and planted which I believe really did happen, Although the black sweatsuit he wore that night was never found there were black fibers from a sweat suit found on Ron Goldman clothes, but not Nicole’s clothes. I believe these fibers were from OJ holding Ron. There is no way the police could have tampered with fiber evidence. Here is the testimony from that period: Blue-black cotton fibers found on three now-familiar exhibits: the glove found at Mr. Simpson's home, socks retrieved from the foot of his bed and the blood-soaked shirt of one of the murder victims, Ronald L. Goldman. Though the clothing worn by the assailant has never been retrieved, prior testimony has established that Mr. Simpson was wearing a dark sweat suit shortly before the killings of Mr. Goldman and Nicole Brown Simpson. Even if you say the glove was planted why did it have blue black fibers on it and why has the sweatsuit OJ wore that night ever been recovered. Ron’s timeline to Nicole’s could not have been before 10:30pm Ron Goldman could not have reached Bundy Drive before 10:30pm. He left Mezzaluna at 9:45pm to head home, take a quick shower, eat a spinach salad (which was later found in his digestive tract that it had been eaten sometime in the past 40 minutes). When Ron came to Bundy Drive, Nicole had been dead for 30 minutes. 2 knives not 1 Experts agree there were 2 knives use because there were no transfer stains of one knife. One knife was used on Nicole at 10pm and a different knife was used on Ron at 1030pm.
OJ was upset because he was exposed for who he really was: a vicious sadistic murderer. Maury is being confrontational instead of compassionate and understanding. This is a grieving friend who should be treated with kindness.

Barbara Eden, who played Jeannie in the show I Dream of Jeannie, has said in interviews that Lucille Ball was really kind to her when she appeared in I Love Lucy. Lucille thought Barbara’s costume was too plain for her, and she bedazzled it by hand herself so that it would look nicer on her. Barbara could not believe that Lucille did that for her. Unfortunately, she mentions that she allegedly had to hide on set from Lucille’s then husband and Co-Star Desi Arnaz. It is well known that Desi was allegedly a womanizer and Barbara was married to actor Michael Ansara at the time, and she wasn’t interested. Maybe Lucille appreciated and respected a beautiful lady like Barbara for not wanting anything to do with Desi. It is possible Lucille didn’t like Elizabeth talking with Desi or the flirting she did with men and affairs she had with other women’s husbands.
It's disgusting how people can take a clip & fabricate a complete and utter lie about it! Dinah Shore & Lucille Ball had been friends since practically the beginning of Lucy's career, and remained best friends to the end. This was a heartbroken friend going to sit with people she thought of as her second family. But, they were out making arrangements during a difficult time. She was not turned away by the family, and Dinah returned a couple hours later and was welcomed inside.
