Self taught, and fueled by a dedicated father. The greatest boy band of my generation and the pride of Gary, Indiana The Jackson Five, featuring Johnny on Drums and Ronny on keys.
Many people have felt that the worst thing to happen in Mets history was when the Mets traded Seaver to the Reds or trading Nolan Ryan to the Angels. My Uncle who took me to Mets games and made me a Met fan in 1967 thought differently. He said the worst thing that ever happened to the Mets was the passing of Gil Hodges and I agree. Tom Seaver and David Wright are my favorite Mets. Willie Mays and Hank Aaron are in my opinion the greatest players in the game so far. For me Gil Hodges was my favorite person in the game and still the greatest manager the Mets have ever had. Rest in peace Mr. Hodges!
Hmmmmmmmmm, the organ music being played as the casket is being carried into the church sounds like the opening bars of that old Navy hymn "Eternal Father Strong To Save" which was played at the Arlington National Cemetery gravesite ceremonies of John F. Kennedy in November 1963 and his wife Jackie in May 1994.
The entertainment staff should be honored for their work to get all those people out! They saved all those people while the Crew did NOTHING. Seeing those people sliding and the chairs being piled up is sad.
The loss of the _Andrea Doria_ in 1956 is the worst example of crew cowardice. When she started sinking the crew all jumped into the lifeboats, and had it not been for the prompt action of the SS _Stockholm_ and the US Coastguard her 1600 passengers may well have been left to their own devices
It’s wild how much faster the ship starts to dive as soon as the funnel goes underwater. The book The Perfect Storm goes into detail about how downflooding is usually the death blow for a ship, and this seems like a perfect example.
The running mate to the Oceanos, M.V Jupiter also sank in 1988. They look basically the same ship. It’s a pity the Jupiter isn’t very well known. My mum was actually a survivor of the Jupiter.
The fact it stayed relatively stable long enough for everybody to evacuate safely is crazy! Not a single person died and that’s more impressive considering the crew abandoned the passengers
There is something I don't follow here. It does look as if the ship hits bottom at 6.00. But it then sinks more or less perpendicular to the surface, in other words, "straight down". If it had hit bottom wouldn't it "flop" down to the water and pivot down around the point at which it was in contact with the seabed?
This ship sinking is absolutely scary….slow but fast at the same time I am so happy no one perished! Quick question. As she was taking her final plunge what was that smoke? Was it just air pockets exploding? Or a fire that happened as the ship was going down?
I saw this concert in Chicago (when I was 4) and I still remember being annoyed that my father kept letting the teenage girl in the row behind us borrow his binoculars. We only had the one for a family of four, so it was already hard enough to share lol.
